Chapter 305: Unexplained Unhappiness
Ji Wan paused slightly.
"You can make any request, as long as it is within my ability." Chi Wenyan continued.
Ji Wan turned around and saw a smug smile flash across He Wanqing's face.
Their eyes met, and He Wanqing's smile deepened, as if she was silently showing off.
Ji Wan felt inexplicably unhappy and quickly left the villa with Zhou Yan.
Zhou Yan led the way on the small path in Tanyuan, while Ji Wan followed behind, feeling uneasy. Chi Wenyan's words lingered in her mind, "give you an explanation," "make any request," which sounded like the sign of an intimate relationship.
"Mr. Zhou, what is the relationship between He Wanqing and Mr. Chi Erye?" Ji Wan couldn't help but ask.
Zhou Yan had a blank expression on his face. "Sorry, Miss Ji, this is not a question I can answer."
Ji Wan nodded and didn't ask any more questions.
When he reached the gate of Tan Garden, four black dogs appeared from nowhere and followed him from a distance. Ji Wan quickened his pace nervously.
Zhou Yan stopped a taxi and opened the door for Ji Wan. "Please get in."
Ji Wan was about to get in the car when he suddenly thought of something and turned around to ask, "Mr. Zhou, why did Aunt Shang Yunmin tell me that Master Chi was injured?"
Zhou Yan's expression remained unchanged. "Maybe it's a misunderstanding."
Ji Wan frowned. This was exactly the same as what Chi Wenyan said. It was too deliberate.
After getting in the car, Ji Wan looked out the window towards Tanyuan, but his doubts grew even deeper.
In the villa, He Wanqing sat elegantly on the sofa, her legs crossed, her fingers tapping lightly on the coffee table.
"Ji Wan came to see you, what's the matter?" she asked, her brows slightly raised.
Chi Wenyan poured a cup of tea and said calmly, "She came to thank me."
"Thank you?" A hint of confusion flashed in He Wanqing's eyes.
"It was about the Nanjing incident. I happened to pass by and helped her." Chi Wenyan explained briefly.
He Wanqing chuckled, "What a coincidence." There was obvious distrust in her tone.
She stood up and walked to Chi Wenyan, her voice soft, "Second Master just said that he would give me an explanation and let me make a request?"
Chi Wenyan raised his eyes to look at her, "Tell me, what do you want?"
He Wanqing licked her lips, her eyes burning, "Second Master, do you still remember what we did at the Skyline Club last month?"
"What's the matter?" Chi Wenyan frowned slightly.
He Wanqing giggled, "You drank too much that day, the night we spent together." She deliberately slowed down her speech, "You haven't forgotten, have you?"
Chi Wenyan's eyes suddenly turned cold, "He Wanqing, do you know what you are saying?"
He Wanqing was not afraid at all, but moved closer. "Second Master, we are all adults, there is no need to play dumb. I know you were drunk at the time, but since it happened, you should take responsibility, right?"
Chi Wenyan sneered, "What do you want?"
"I want to join the Chi Group and learn some business management." He Wanqing directly stated her purpose. "Also, I want to give the He family two projects. I believe this is not too much for Second Master, right?"
Chi Wenyan was silent for a moment, and finally nodded, "Okay, report to Chi's tomorrow. As for the project, I will ask someone to arrange it."
He Wanqing showed a triumphant smile on her face, "Thank you, Second Master."
She stood up with satisfaction and continued, "Then I'll take my leave."
Chi Wenyan did not try to persuade him to stay, but simply said, "Zhou Yan will see you off."
He Wanqing walked out of the villa, feeling extremely proud.
What she said just now about the Skyline Club was pure fabrication. She had nothing to do with Chi Wenyan at all.
But she knew that she could gain benefits from the Chi family by taking advantage of this ambiguous relationship.
Besides, Ji Wan's expression just now made her very satisfied. Many years ago, the Ji family caused the He family to suffer heavy losses. Now seeing Ji Wan's downfall, why not offend her?
Zhou Yan had already returned and was waiting. When he saw He Wanqing coming out, he respectfully took her to the parking lot.
He Wanqing got into the car, crossed her arms, and was in a good mood.
As the car drove out of the gate of Tanyuan, a figure suddenly rushed to the middle of the road and waved to signal the car to stop.
Zhou Yan braked suddenly and the car stopped just in front of the man.
"Who is it?" He Wanqing frowned and looked forward.
The person standing in front of the car was Ji Wan.
He Wanqing sneered and motioned Zhou Yan to roll down the window.
"Miss Ji, what can I do for you?" He Wanqing asked sarcastically.
Ji Wan walked to the car window, his eyes sharp, "He Wanqing, what on earth do you want to do?"
"I don't understand what you are talking about." He Wanqing pretended to be innocent.
"What did you say to Chi Wenyan just now?" Ji Wan asked directly.
He Wanqing smiled proudly, "I just made a small request to him, but I didn't expect him to agree."
She paused and added deliberately, "After all, I took good care of him last month at the Skyline Club."
Ji Wan's pupils shrank slightly, "You are lying."
"Oh?" He Wanqing raised an eyebrow. "How can you be so sure?"
"Because it was me at the Skyline Club last month, not you." Ji Wan said coldly, "Chi Wenyan was with me that day. You were an imposter."
He Wanqing's expression changed slightly, but then she regained her composure. "Ji Wan, don't talk nonsense. Who knows if you're lying?"
"I can provide evidence." Ji Wan looked at her directly, "You'd better explain it clearly, otherwise I will tell Chi Wenyan the truth."
He Wanqing's smile froze on her face, and a hint of panic flashed in her eyes.
"Ji Wan, stop talking nonsense here." She gritted her teeth, her voice sharp.
Ji Wan smiled coldly, "On the night of the 15th of last month, Chi Wenyan was indeed at the Skyline Club, but the person who accompanied him that night was me, not you."
He Wanqing's face turned pale. She didn't expect Ji Wan to be able to tell her the specific date.
She waved to Zhou Yan to drive, "Mr. Zhou, drive."
Zhou Yan hesitated for a moment and did not start the car immediately.
Ji Wan walked around to the other side of the car, opened the door and got in.
"What are you doing?" He Wanqing screamed.
Ji Wan ignored her screams and just stared at her coldly, "Long time no see, let's chat."
He Wanqing shrank towards the car door and said, "I have nothing to talk to you about."
"Nothing to talk about?" Ji Wan sneered, "He Wanqing, we were best friends back then, have you forgotten?"
Zhou Yan glanced at the two of them through the rearview mirror and started the car silently.
The car fell into a suffocating silence. He Wanqing pursed her lips tightly, her fingers twisted nervously together.
"Remember our sophomore year?" Ji Wan suddenly spoke, his voice eerily calm. "My mother suddenly had a mental breakdown and was admitted to a mental hospital."
He Wanqing's body stiffened and her face turned even paler.
"At that time, you came to the hospital to visit my mother and brought her favorite roses. Do you still remember?" Ji Wan continued, his eyes as sharp as a knife.
