Chapter 313 Sweet Talk

Chapter 313 Sweet Talk

Ji Wan wanted to avoid it, but because his grandmother was there, he could only stiffly accept this intimate behavior.

Grandma looked at the two of them, a relieved smile on her face. "You two have such a good relationship. Seeing you like this, I feel relieved."

Chi Lin immediately responded, "Grandma, don't worry, I will treat Wanwan well for the rest of my life."

Ji Wan sneered in his heart, but remained expressionless.

She could see that Chi Lin was taking advantage of her grandmother's affection for him to forcibly maintain their relationship.

On the third day, Ji Wan met Chi Wenyan in the corridor outside the ward.

"How is grandma?" Chi Wenyan asked with sincere concern in his eyes.

Ji Wan smiled slightly, "Much better, the doctor said it's recovering well. Thank you for your help that night. If it weren't for you, the consequences would be disastrous."

Chi Wenyan nodded, "You're welcome."

He paused, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he just handed her a business card and said, "If you need anything, feel free to contact me."

Ji Wan took the business card and was about to speak when the door of the ward suddenly opened and Chi Lin walked out. Seeing the two of them standing together, his expression instantly darkened.

"Wen Yan, you're here." Chi Lin's voice was calm, but a hint of vigilance flashed in his eyes.

Chi Wenyan nodded and said, "I heard that the old man was in the hospital, so I came to see him."

"Thank you for your concern. She's recovering well." Chi Lin walked to Ji Wan and naturally put his arm around her waist. "Wan Wan, grandma is looking for you."

Ji Wan effortlessly broke free from his hand and walked into the ward. Chi Lin and Chi Wenyan exchanged glances in the corridor, neither of them speaking.

A week later, my grandmother's condition stabilized and the doctor agreed to discharge her from the hospital.

Chi Lin had already arranged everything. A spacious car was parked in front of the hospital, and two experienced nannies were waiting beside the car.

"Grandma, these two are Aunt Zhou and Aunt Lin, professional caregivers who will take care of your daily life." Chi Lin introduced them to grandma.

Grandma held the hands of the two aunts and said with a kind smile, "Thank you for your help."

"It's no trouble. Thank you, old lady." The two nannies answered in unison.

Chi Lin helped his grandmother get into the car, then turned back to look at Ji Wan, "I've already tidied up the old house. The environment is more suitable for Grandma to recuperate. Your room is also ready."

Ji Wan took a deep breath and said, "Chi Lin, I've made it very clear. I won't go back with you."

Grandma leaned out of the car window and asked doubtfully, "Wanwan, aren't you going home with us?"

Ji Wan was a little embarrassed and didn't want to expose Chi Lin's lies in front of his grandmother.

Chi Lin took the opportunity to whisper, "Go back first. We'll talk about it when we get back. Don't let grandma worry."

Ji Wan had no choice but to get on the car.

The old house has indeed been renovated and all the facilities have been carefully renovated to make it more suitable for the elderly to live in.

Handrails have been added to the stairs, anti-slip mats have been installed in the bathrooms, and there is even a dedicated recovery room equipped with simple physical therapy equipment.

The two nannies immediately got busy, one helped grandma make the bed, and the other went to the kitchen to prepare a nutritious meal.

Grandma looked very satisfied and always had a smile on her face.

"Lin'er, you are so thoughtful." Grandma patted Chi Lin's hand with an intimate tone.

Chi Lin responded with a smile, "It's my duty, grandma."

After grandma rested, Ji Wan finally found an opportunity to talk to Chi Lin alone.

In the study, she made her position clear and direct.

"Now that Grandma is settled, I'm leaving."

Chi Lin stood in front of the window with his back to her, "Where are you going?"

"I will find a place to live and come to visit grandma every day." Ji Wan said calmly.

Chi Lin turned around, his eyes sharp, "How will you live if you leave me?"

"I have my own savings." Ji Wan answered without hesitation.

Chi Lin sneered, "Really?"

Then, he took out his phone and pulled up a bank account page for Ji Wan to see. "Are you sure?"

Ji Wan took the phone and her pupils suddenly contracted. It was a joint account between her and Chi Lin, and the balance showed less than 10,000 yuan.

"This is impossible." Ji Wan stared at the screen in disbelief. "We should have millions in our account..."

"Oh, you mean that money?" Chi Lin sat down slowly. "I invested all of it in the Qihai project."

Ji Wan glared at him, "You have no right to use my money."

"Of course I have the right to open a joint account." Chi Lin smiled slightly, "Besides, this investment is for our future."

Ji Wan took a deep breath and tried to control his emotions. "Okay, then I'll use the money from my personal account."

Chi Lin shook his head, "I'm afraid that won't work."

"What's the meaning?"

"The Qihai project requires a large amount of funds. I have invested all the assets I can, including the personal assets you authorized me to use." Chi Lin said calmly.

Ji Wan instantly understood his intention.

Chi Lin simply foresaw that she might leave, so he cut off her financial support in advance.

"You've planned this a long time ago, haven't you?" Ji Wan asked coldly.

Chi Lin remained noncommittal. "It's just a business decision. The Qihai project has great prospects, but I signed a bet."

"A betting agreement?" Ji Wan frowned.

"Yes, if the project fails to achieve its expected goals, we will lose all our investment and even have to pay a huge penalty." Chi Lin looked directly into Ji Wan's eyes. "So, whether you like it or not, we are now in this together."

Ji Wan felt dizzy. She had never thought Chi Lin would take this step. The gambling agreement was undoubtedly a trap, not only trapping her, but also tying her and Chi Lin together.

"Why do you want to sign this kind of agreement?" Ji Wan asked.

Chi Lin stood up, walked in front of her, and said in a low voice, "Because I believe we can succeed. As long as you stay with me, we can overcome any difficulties."

Ji Wan took a step back, avoiding his approach, "Are you so afraid that I will leave?"

"I'm not afraid." Chi Lin's eyes became deep. "I'm just protecting our relationship."

Ji Wan sneered, "This is not protection, this is control."

Chi Lin was unmoved. "Think what you will. But the fact is, the Qihai Project is our only asset now, and it must succeed."

He paused, "Otherwise, we will all be left with nothing."

Ji Wan turned and walked towards the door, but Chi Lin stopped her and asked, "Where are you going?"

"I need to calm down." Ji Wan said without turning his head.

"Don't forget, grandma still needs you." Chi Lin's voice came from behind, like an invisible chain, tightly wrapped around her.

Ji Wan paused, but finally opened the door and walked out.

Ji Wan left the study, feeling so suffocated that she could hardly breathe. She walked straight to the garden, took a deep breath of fresh air, and tried to calm herself down.
