Chapter 319 Horse Racing
After getting ready, Ji Wan was taken to the stable to choose a horse.
Fu Qichuan personally selected a docile but fast brown horse for her.
"Although this horse 'Xingchen' is not the fastest, it is very stable and suitable for people like you who haven't ridden a horse for a long time." Fu Qichuan introduced.
Ji Wan stroked the horse's mane, feeling its gentleness, and said softly, "Thank you, we will try our best."
She approached the horse cautiously, patted its neck, whispered a few words, and then skillfully climbed onto the horse.
The horse seemed to sense her proficiency and confidence, and neighed softly to express its acceptance.
"It seems that you are a good rider." Fu Qichuan nodded with satisfaction.
Ji Wan rode "Xingchen" for a few laps on the field and quickly regained the feeling of riding.
Her posture is standard, her movements are smooth, and her every gesture reveals the result of years of hard training.
In the audience seats, Chi Wenyan and several friends were watching her warm-up.
"That lady is quite a rider," a friend commented.
Chi Wenyan nodded, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes, "She was the champion of the youth equestrian competition when she was a child."
"Do you know her?" the friend asked curiously.
"A friend." Chi Wenyan answered briefly, but his eyes followed Ji Wan's figure.
The competition is about to begin, and more than a dozen female riders enter the track one after another.
Ji Wan noticed that Ning Weiwei and He Wanqing were among the contestants. They were riding horses that looked extremely fast and were obviously regulars.
Ji Wan took a deep breath and had only one thought in his mind: he must win the competition. This was the only chance to get close to Fu Qichuan and learn the truth about the Qihai project.
Just then, she noticed He Wanqing dismounting and talking to a girl. The girl looked furtive and seemed to be holding something in her hand.
Ji Wan's intuition told her that something was wrong, so she quietly approached and pretended to adjust the horse's harness.
"...Her horse must be injected with this, or it will become extremely excited and out of control during the competition." The girl whispered, holding a small syringe in her hand.
Ji Wan immediately understood that this was the medicine prepared by He Wanqing's friend, and the target was most likely her "Star".
Ji Wan quickly walked away and found the security personnel at the horse farm to explain the situation.
Security immediately went to investigate and caught the girl just as she was about to approach "Xingchen".
"What are you doing?" the security guard asked sternly.
The girl panicked and dropped the syringe in her hand.
He Wanqing rushed over when she heard the noise, and her face changed drastically when she saw this scene.
"What's going on?" He Wanqing asked in pretended surprise.
The security guard picked up the syringe and said, "This lady tried to inject an unknown drug into a horse."
The girl looked at He Wanqing in panic, "I...I..."
A flash of anger crossed He Wanqing's face, and then she looked extremely shocked. "Yangyang, how could you do such a thing?" She raised her hand and slapped the girl hard. "I really misjudged you."
The girl covered her face with her hands, her eyes full of disbelief, "Wanqing, you..."
"Don't call me by my name. I don't know such a despicable person as you." He Wanqing interrupted her harshly and turned to the security guard. "I'm sorry, I didn't know she would do such a thing. Please take her away. She has tarnished the reputation of the horse farm."
The security guard took the girl away. When He Wanqing turned around, her eyes met Ji Wan's.
The fake smile on her face froze for a moment, then returned to normal. She raised her chin proudly and turned away.
Ji Wan sneered. He Wanqing's acting skills were really good, but it was a pity that she messed up.
At the same time, Chi Wenyan was talking in a low voice with his friends in the audience.
"Do you know He Wanqing?" asked the friend.
A hint of coldness flashed in Chi Wenyan's eyes. "I have some impression of her. She once claimed to be the woman I met at a wedding."
"Wedding?" the friend asked curiously.
"A few months ago, I did meet a woman who had been drugged at a wedding, but it wasn't her." Chi Wenyan's voice was low. "Someone tried to use this incident to blackmail me."
"Who is the real woman?" the friend continued to ask.
Chi Wenyan did not answer, but looked at Ji Wan on the field with a complicated expression.
The race is about to begin and all riders return to their respective positions.
Ji Wan gently patted Xingchen's neck to soothe it. He Wanqing and Ning Weiwei flanked her, their gazes meeting, sparks flying.
The starting gun sounded, and the horses shot out of the starting line like arrows from a bow. Ji Wan steadily controlled the rhythm of "Xingchen" and did not rush to the front at the beginning, but stayed in the middle and observed the situation on the field.
He Wanqing rode her black horse quickly to the front, followed closely by Ning Weiwei.
The two seemed to be very familiar with the track and controlled it with ease.
Ji Wan calmly assessed the situation and gradually increased his speed.
By the end of the first lap, she had already overtaken several riders and was in fifth place. Entering the second lap, she began to show her true skills. Under her guidance, "Xingchen"'s movements became more and more smooth, and her speed continued to increase.
In the audience, a hint of admiration flashed in Chi Wenyan's eyes.
Fu Qichuan watched the game with great interest, nodding his approval from time to time.
Entering the last lap, Ji Wan had caught up with Ning Weiwei, and the two were running side by side.
There was only He Wanqing in front. She looked back, a trace of panic flashed in her eyes, and then she swung the whip hard, trying to keep some distance.
Ji Wan took a deep breath, leaned close to the horse's back, and encouraged Xingchen softly: "Come on, man, it's time to sprint."
As if it understood her words, "Xingchen" suddenly burst out at an astonishing speed, quickly narrowing the distance between itself and He Wanqing.
Just when she was about to catch up, He Wanqing suddenly turned around and whipped Ji Wan in his direction.
Although it missed, the action startled the "Star" and it deviated slightly from its orbit.
Ji Wan immediately adjusted his posture, patted the horse to calm it, and then quickly found the correct route.
He Wanqing's little action was seen clearly by the people in the audience, causing a round of boos.
Fu Qichuan's face darkened, and he was obviously very dissatisfied with this unfair behavior.
Ji Wan was not discouraged, but instead became more focused. In the final 100 meters, she and "Xingchen" worked together seamlessly, overtaking He Wanqing at an astonishing speed and crossing the finish line first.
The audience erupted in applause and cheers.
Ji Wan gently patted "Xingchen" on the neck to thank it for its efforts.
He Wanqing and Ning Weiwei won the second and third place respectively, but He Wanqing's face looked extremely ugly and she obviously could not accept the result.
Fu Qichuan walked to the sidelines and personally presented Ji Wan with a ribbon symbolizing victory. He loudly announced, "Today's champion, Miss Ji Wan."
