Chapter 337: Falling out
This scene deeply hurt Ji Wan's heart. Just last night, Chi Lin had vowed to completely sever ties with Ning Weiwei and visit her mother.
And now, these two promises were ruthlessly shattered before her eyes.
Ji Wan took a deep breath and tried to control his emotions.
She took out her cell phone and called Chi Lin's number again, wanting to verify his lies personally.
The phone rang a few times, and Chi Lin's voice came from the other end. The background sound was obviously much quieter, and it was obvious that he had entered the temple.
"Hello, Wanwan? What's wrong?" Chi Lin's voice sounded a little nervous.
Ji Wan forced himself to remain calm, "Where are you now? Are you going to the sanatorium soon?"
"Uh, I just finished a meeting with a client and am on my way." Chi Lin paused, "It may take about half an hour to get here."
Ji Wan poked his head out from behind the pillar and saw Chi Lin standing in a corner of the hall, holding a cell phone in one hand and gesturing to Ning Weiwei to wait with the other.
"Really?" Ji Wan's voice was icy. "Then where are you now? I think I heard the sound of a wooden fish being struck."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, and then Chi Lin laughed dryly twice, "Maybe he passed by the temple, and the traffic here is a bit congested."
"Oh, I see." Ji Wan's tone was calm, but his heart was in pain. "Then be careful on the road. I'll be waiting for your good news."
"Okay, I'll get there as soon as possible." Chi Lin breathed a sigh of relief, apparently unaware that Ji Wan had discovered the truth.
After hanging up the phone, Ji Wan leaned against the pillar, feeling dizzy.
She originally thought that she had become numb to Chi Lin's betrayal, but she didn't expect that seeing it with her own eyes would still be so heartbreaking.
It's simply unforgivable!
The Buddha statues in the temple were solemn and majestic, and amidst the smoke of incense, Ji Wan looked at the figures of Chi Lin and Ning Weiwei not far away, and an unprecedented determination rose in his heart.
She couldn't go on like this. She had to change, both for herself and for her mother.
Just as Ji Wan was about to leave, Xia Guoguo ran over anxiously, "Sister Wan, President Fu is here and is waiting for us at the club."
Ji Wan took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down, "Okay, we'll be there right away."
Before leaving, she took a last look at Chi Lin and Ning Weiwei.
The two are worshipping devoutly in front of the Buddha statue. The picture is harmonious and beautiful, as if they are a real couple.
Ji Wan turned and left with a firm step. She knew that she had to end this farce as soon as possible and regain control of her life.
After returning to Fengming Villa, Ji Wan quickly adjusted his state and prepared for the meeting with Fu Qichuan.
In the club, Fu Qichuan, dressed casually, was sipping tea and waiting.
Seeing Ji Wan and his colleagues coming in, he stood up and walked towards them with a smile.
"Ms. Ji, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting." Fu Qichuan's gaze lingered on Ji Wan's face for a moment, as if he had noticed something, but he didn't ask any more questions.
Ji Wan forced a smile and said, "It's okay. We just happened to visit Fengming Temple. It was very interesting."
"That's good." Fu Qichuan gestured for everyone to take a seat. "Today I want to discuss the specific details of the Hengxin project with you in detail."
Ji Wan nodded, forcing herself to focus on her work and temporarily forget about her previous discovery.
However, no matter how hard she tried, she could not get rid of the figures of Chi Lin and Ning Weiwei, as well as the carefully woven lies, in her mind.
My phone vibrated in my pocket. It was a message from Jing Nanxing: "I've arrived at the nursing home. Aunt Hua is very happy to see me and her mood is much more stable. When can you come over?"
Ji Wan read the message, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart. At least in this difficult time, there were still people who truly cared about her and her mother.
She quickly replied, "I'll be there right after the meeting. Thank you, Nanxing."
Putting down the phone, Ji Wan looked up at Fu Qichuan, who was looking at her with an inquiring look.
"Miss Ji, is there anything troubling you?" Fu Qichuan asked with concern.
Ji Wan shook his head, "It's okay, let's continue."
Fu Qichuan seemed to want to say something, but in the end he just nodded and continued to discuss the project details.
Ji Wan forced himself to focus, but he had already made a decision in his heart: it was time to end this ridiculous marriage, no matter what the cost.
Ji Wan clutched the phone tightly, his voice frighteningly calm, "Chi Lin, where are you?"
"I said, I'm on the way to the sanatorium. I just finished a meeting with a client." Chi Lin's voice came from the other end of the phone, sounding a little impatient.
"Really? Then please turn around." Ji Wan's tone was as calm as water.
There was silence on the other end of the phone for a few seconds. "What do you mean?"
"It means exactly what it says, turn around." Ji Wan said word by word.
Chi Lin stood there, hesitated for a moment, then slowly turned around and scanned every corner of the temple. When his gaze fell on a pillar not far away, he froze.
Ji Wan stood there, holding the phone, looking at him expressionlessly.
The two looked at each other from a distance, and time seemed to freeze at this moment.
"Wanwan..." Chi Lin opened his mouth, and the voice came from both the phone and not far away, creating a strange echo effect.
Ji Wan hung up the phone and turned away.
"Wait." Chi Lin came back to his senses and chased after her. "Wanwan, I can explain."
Ji Wan stopped and turned around. The coldness in his eyes made Chi Lin's heart tremble.
"What do you want to explain? Explain why you're here with Ning Weiwei, praying to the Buddha, instead of going to see my mother? Or explain why you solemnly promised last night that you would break up with her, but today you're with her again?"
Ji Wan's voice was so calm that it was frightening, and the man's heart continued to fall.
Chi Lin hurriedly took a few steps forward, "It's not what you think, I just..."
"Brother Lin." A sweet female voice interrupted him. Ning Weiwei trotted over from the temple with a bright smile on her face. "Now that we're done with our worship, where are we going next?"
She seemed not to notice Ji Wan's presence and naturally took Chi Lin's arm.
Seeing this scene, Ji Wan's mouth curled up into a cold smile, "It seems that this is what you call an important customer."
Ning Weiwei only then noticed Ji Wan. The smile on her face froze for a moment, and then a look of surprise appeared on her face. "Ji Wan? Why are you here?"
"Ning Weiwei, let me go." Chi Lin said sternly and shook off her hand.
Ning Weiwei was shocked by the sudden indifference and looked at Chi Lin in confusion, "Brother Lin, what's wrong?"
"From now on, you are fired from Chaosheng Company." Chi Lin's voice was as cold as ice. "All work will be handed over to Secretary Li. Pack up your things by tomorrow."
Ning Weiwei's face turned pale, her eyes full of disbelief, "Why? What did I do wrong?"
