Chapter 359 Trying to Stop
He Wanqing's voice, pretending to be surprised and with a hint of grievance, came from the other end of the phone.
"Wen Yan? Have you seen the news online? How could those people write like that? It's too much. Are you okay? This must have affected you too..."
Her words were like poison wrapped in honey, trying to show her kindness and concern.
The coldness in Chi Wenyan's eyes became even stronger.
He could even imagine the hypocritical expression on He Wanqing's face on the other end of the phone, "You called just to say this?"
The man's voice was cold and interrupted her performance.
He Wanqing seemed to choke for a moment, and then her tone became more cautious and tentative.
"I'm just worried about you and Sister Ji Wan. She must be very sad right now. However, Wen Yan, I think it's best for you not to show up right now. The more you defend her at a time like this, the more outsiders will think there's something going on between you two."
Every word he said was precisely aimed at stopping him from helping Ji Wan.
Chi Wenyan's lips curled up into an icy arc.
He asked back calmly, no emotion in his tone.
"Really? Don't worry about my business."
After saying that, he hung up the phone directly, completely isolating himself from the pretentious voice.
The cell phone was thrown casually on the sofa.
He stood up, grabbed the coat draped over the chair, and strode towards the door. He couldn't let Ji Wan face the schemes of that old fox Chi Lin alone.
He has to go.
The elevator door slid open silently.
Chi Wenyan stepped out, and the hard soles of his leather shoes tapped against the floor of the empty underground garage, making a slight but clear echo.
His jawline was tense, and there was a lingering stern look between his brows.
He hardly dared to think deeply about what Ji Wan might be facing.
He knew too well the methods of that old fox Chi Lin.
So, he had to rush over.
A slender figure leaned against his car, looking a little out of place in the dim light.
This person is none other than He Wanqing.
The woman raised her head with just the right amount of surprise in her eyes, and stroked her forehead weakly with one hand.
Her voice was deliberately lowered, with a barely perceptible tremor.
"Wen Yan, I suddenly feel very uncomfortable and dizzy."
Her body swayed slightly, as if she would collapse at any second, and her hand subconsciously reached towards him.
Chi Wenyan stopped a few steps away from her, his eyes fixed calmly on her face, without any ripples.
What a coincidence.
Too deliberate.
He pulled out his cell phone expressionlessly and quickly dialed a number, his eyes not fixed on her.
The man's voice was flat, without a trace of concern in it.
"Assistant Li, Miss He is feeling unwell. Please take her to the hospital for a checkup."
He Wanqing's hand supporting her forehead stiffened slightly, and a hint of surprise flashed across her eyes. She obviously didn't expect this kind of reaction.
Before she could say anything else, he hung up the phone.
"The car will be here soon."
He walked around her and opened the driver's door with a swift movement.
The meaning of rejection is obvious.
The sports car's engine let out a low roar, and the tires made a brief and harsh sound as they rubbed against the ground, and then it quickly drove out of the garage.
The neon lights outside the window stretched and twisted into blurry bands of light.
Chi Wenyan's fingers gripped the steering wheel so hard that their knuckles turned white.
Every pause at a traffic light added to his anxiety.
Finally, the car braked to a stop in front of a restaurant with a low-key and luxurious appearance.
He didn't even bother with the parking attendant, he just pushed open the car door and strode in.
He pushed the heavy door of the box open.
The noisy sounds of clinking glasses inside came to an abrupt end.
Several eyes were cast at the uninvited guest at the door.
Chi Wenyan's gaze was like a sharp blade, instantly piercing through the crowd and accurately locking onto Ji Wan in the corner.
She leaned back in her chair, and beside her sat a middle-aged man with a smile on his face and a slightly plump figure. He should be the Mr. Zhang that Chi Lin mentioned.
Ji Wan's cheeks were flushed abnormally, as if they were stained with cheap rouge.
Her usually clear and calm eyes were now covered with a layer of mist, appearing confused and empty.
At this moment, the woman was still unconsciously holding a wine glass in her hand, and seemed to be completely unaware of his arrival.
A stream of air mixed with rage and coldness instantly rushed to Chi Wenyan's head, almost making him lose his mind.
He saw Chi Lin sitting in the main seat. The hypocritical smile on his face, which showed that he had succeeded in his plan, was extremely glaring.
"Wen Yan? Why are you here?" Chi Lin pretended to be surprised, but there was a hint of pride in his eyes as if he was enjoying a good show.
Chi Wenyan completely ignored him and walked straight towards Ji Wan. The low pressure emanating from his body made the air in the entire box seem to solidify.
He stopped beside her, his tall figure casting a shadow.
Even without touching her, he could feel the unusual heat radiating from her.
His voice was low and dangerous, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth.
"What happened to her?"
A trace of panic flashed across Mr. Zhang's face next to him.
"Miss Ji just drank a little too much. Young people should be able to drink a lot, haha..."
Chi Lin also stood up and tried to smooth things over.
"Wen Yan, don't be here..."
Before he could finish his words, Chi Wenyan swung his fist without warning and hit Chi Lin hard in the face.
"Bang!"
A muffled sound, accompanied by the subtle sound of bones dislocating, was particularly clear in the silent box.
Chi Lin cried out in pain and staggered back a few steps in embarrassment, covering the rapidly swelling half of his face, his eyes filled with shock and unbelievable rage.
The whole room was in uproar.
Chi Wenyan seemed not to hear the exclamations and commotion around him.
He bent down, his movements were filled with irresistible force and a hint of subtle caution, and he lifted Ji Wan up from the chair.
Ji Wan moaned and leaned softly in his arms, as if she had found a slightly comfortable support and rubbed against him unconsciously.
He hugged her, turned around and walked out.
"Chi Wenyan, if you dare to take her away, you'll just have to wait for me." Chi Lin's roar, mixed with severe pain and rage, came from behind.
The venom and threat in that voice almost became tangible.
Chi Wenyan didn't stop for a moment. He held the person in his arms and disappeared at the door of the box without looking back.
The carriage is isolated from the noise of the outside world.
Ji Wan twisted restlessly in his arms, moaning in unbearable pain.
She was conscious and felt as if there was a fire burning inside her body. She instinctively wanted to seek some coolness.
"It's hot, so uncomfortable..."
At this moment, the woman's hands began to unconsciously pull Chi Wenyan's shirt, and her fingertips clumsily stroked his skin.
Her breathing became rapid, with a burning temperature, spraying on the side of his neck.
