Chapter 414 Fell

Chapter 414 Fell

Ji Wan's crying and panicked voice came from the other end of the phone: "Wen Yan... I... I slipped in the bathroom... My stomach... My stomach hurts a little..."

"What?!" Chi Wenyan stood up suddenly, his face turned pale instantly, and the parenting book in his hand fell to the ground with a "bang".

He grabbed his coat, his voice trembling with panic: "Don't move! Wanwan, don't move! I'll be back soon."

He rushed out of the office like a gust of wind, without even looking at Zhou Sui again, nor at the contract on the table that only needed a signature.

Zhou Sui froze in place, watching Chi Wenyan's disappearing back, then looked at the unsigned contract on the table. His heart was beating violently, and he couldn't tell whether it was fear or anger for not succeeding.

He slowly exhaled a breath of foul air, his eyes filled with resentment.

Ji Wan, it’s Ji Wan again. This woman is really his nemesis.

But then, a sinister smile crept onto his lips. It didn't matter, there were plenty of opportunities. As long as Chi Wenyan's heart was still with that woman and child, he would always have a chance to take advantage of it!

Zhou Sui walked forward and picked up the unsigned contract on the table. His fingertips pinched the paper fiercely, almost tearing it into pieces. The blank signature space seemed to mock his failure.

Just a little bit, just a little bit!

"Damn it!" He cursed softly, the hatred in his eyes almost bursting out. Ji Wan, do you think you saved Chi Wenyan once? Do you think you stopped me? This is only temporary.

He put the contract down, turned to look at Chi Wenyan's empty seat, and a twisted arc appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Chi Wenyan, you focus all your energy on your family, which is just right. As long as you let your guard down, all that money will fall into my hands sooner or later. Do you think this money is yours? No, it will soon be mine, and your so-called "business empire" is just a stepping stone for my ambition.

He took out his cell phone and called Mr. Wang.

"Boss Wang, the plan has changed." Zhou Sui's voice regained its composure, but a hint of cruelty was suppressed. "Chi Wenyan has gone back, and the contract has not been signed."

Mr. Wang's gloomy voice came from the other end of the phone: "Not signed? What's going on?"

"His wife fell, and he's in a hurry to get home," Zhou Sui explained, his tone tinged with reluctance. "But don't worry, this won't affect the overall situation. He's feeling uneasy right now, and this is the perfect time. The more he focuses on his family, the more opportunities I have to make moves at the company."

"Hmph, don't let me down." Mr. Wang snorted coldly, "You'd better hurry up, my patience is limited. Don't forget the money you owe me, and those photos."

"I understand." Zhou Sui responded with gritted teeth, "Just wait for my good news! Next time, I promise to make him sign obediently."

After hanging up the phone, Zhou Sui sat back in his chair, his eyes sweeping over everything in the office that belonged to Chi Wenyan. Everything here would soon be his. He leaned back in his chair, his mind racing as he began to formulate his next plan. If hard tactics didn't work, then soft tactics would be the way to go. Or perhaps, a two-pronged approach?

Ji Wan, Chi Wenyan, your good days are really coming to an end.

He wanted them to watch helplessly as everything they had built with their own hands was eaten away by him bit by bit, until it was completely destroyed! And he would step on their corpses to ascend to the pinnacle of power.

Assistant Chen's inquiring voice came from outside the door: "Vice President Zhou, President Chi..."

"Boss Chi has an emergency at home, so I'll be leaving first." Zhou Sui immediately suppressed his facial expression, replacing it with his usual gentle and polite smile. "Put these documents in order, and let Boss Chi handle them when he returns. I'll take care of the company's affairs first."

Although Assistant Chen was confused, he still agreed.

Zhou Sui watched Assistant Chen leave, the gloom in his eyes growing even darker. Control information, control personnel, control finances.

Now, he's going to speed up.

Ji Wan's fall only delayed him for a quarter of an hour, but gave him a stronger sense of urgency and crazy determination.

He wanted to take advantage of Chi Wenyan's distraction to get the money he wanted.

He picked up the intercom on the table and dialed the number for the Finance Department. His voice was cold and authoritative: "Notice, all large-scale fund transfers must be approved by me and executed immediately."

The wheels rolled up a rushing sound of wind, and Chi Wenyan's fingers gripping the steering wheel turned white from the force, with veins bulging on the back of his hand.

His mind was blank, and the only thought in his mind was Ji Wan. He couldn't help but wonder, how was she?

Was the fall serious? Is the baby in your belly okay?

He didn't dare to think any further, and stepped on the accelerator almost to the bottom. The engine let out a low roar, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city far behind.

The moment he opened the door, he even forgot to change his shoes and rushed in with a cold body.

In the living room, Ji Wan was half lying on the sofa, his belly slightly bulging, with a look of shock on his face, but he seemed to be fine.

Aunt Zhang had been waiting carefully by his side. Seeing him return, she quickly stood up. "Sir, you're back! My wife just slipped, but luckily it's nothing serious. The doctor just came in and said the baby is stable, but my wife is a little frightened."

Chi Wenyan rushed to the sofa, squatted down, and carefully held Ji Wan's hand. His voice trembled slightly, "Wanwan, how are you? Are you feeling unwell?"

His eyes roamed over her anxiously, afraid to miss any sign of something unusual.

Ji Wan looked at the bloodshot eyes and anxious face, and felt a warm feeling in her heart. She shook her head and said weakly, "I'm fine. I just got startled. The floor was a little slippery. It's all my fault for not being careful."

"I don't blame you." Chi Wenyan interrupted her, his tone firm, "It's my fault. I didn't take good care of you."

He placed her hand against his cheek, feeling her warmth, and his heart finally settled down. At that moment, he forgot all about the company, the contract, and Lu Liang's ambitions. Nothing was more important than her and the child!

From that day on, Chi Wenyan almost became Ji Wan's shadow.

I pushed off all the company matters that could be pushed off, and tried to take those that could not be pushed off home to deal with, or hand them over to trusted subordinates.

He personally oversaw every corner of the house, laying out non-slip mats and removing any obstacles that might cause bumps. For three meals a day, he watched the nutritionist put together the menus and even cooked for her himself, creating a variety of dishes.

Ji Wan recovered very well under his meticulous care, her cheeks became rounder and her complexion became rosy.

However, after being cooped up at home for so long, no amount of care could overcome the boredom she felt. She was never one to be completely idle, and now she felt that every day was like a year.
