Chapter 418 Hiding from Her

Chapter 418 Hiding from Her

"Keeping it from her, letting her believe that Mr. Ji has truly betrayed her, would be the most cruel thing." Lin Sen's voice was filled with determination. "We all underestimated Miss Ji. You prepare, and I'll make some arrangements. We must make her understand the true situation we're in."

After hanging up the phone, Uncle Zhong looked at Ji Wan, who was still crying silently, with a heavy heart, and his heart was in turmoil.

An hour later, Lin Sen hurried to the villa. Dark shadows covered his eyes, clearly indicating he hadn't slept all night.

"Miss Ji." Lin Sen walked to the sofa and bowed slightly.

Ji Wan raised his red and swollen eyes, his voice hoarse: "Where's Chi Wenyan? Why didn't he answer the phone? Is he with Zhao Xiyue?"

Looking at her tear-stained face, Lin Sen took a deep breath, looked at Uncle Zhong, and made up his mind.

"Miss Ji, Mr. is not with Zhao Xiyue." Lin Sen said with difficulty, "Mr. was framed and involved in a big trouble. His movements are temporarily restricted and he can't contact the outside world. Zhao Xiyue's appearance and pregnancy may also be part of this conspiracy."

Ji Wan stopped crying and looked at Lin Sen in a daze, her eyes full of disbelief.

Lin Sen and Uncle Zhong looked at each other, and selectively and as tactfully as possible told Ji Wan about the situation they currently knew and the difficulties Chi Wenyan might face.

They concealed the darkest and dirtiest parts, but it was enough for Ji Wan to understand that Chi Wenyan did not lose contact on his own initiative, nor did he rekindle his old relationship with Zhao Xiyue.

The amount of information is huge, and the impact is no less than the previous "betrayal".

Lin Sen and Uncle Zhong both held their breath and looked at Ji Wan nervously, fearing that she would have an emotional breakdown.

However, to their surprise, after the initial shock, the tears on Ji Wan's face had not yet dried, but his eyes gradually became clearer and sharper.

She didn't cry or get hysterical, she just sat quietly, her slender fingers unconsciously stroking her belly.

Time passed minute by minute, and the living room became eerily quiet.

Uncle Zhong and Lin Sen's hearts were in their throats.

After an unknown amount of time, Ji Wan slowly raised his head. The fragility in his red and swollen eyes was gone, replaced by an astonishing calmness and tenacity.

"So," she began, her voice still hoarse but remarkably clear, "Chi Wenyan is trapped now. It doesn't matter whether the child in Zhao Xiyue's belly is his or not. What matters is that Zhao Xiyue is now one of the key figures in this situation who can prove his innocence or help him escape, right?"

Lin Sen and Uncle Zhong were both stunned by her precise analysis.

"You could say that." Lin Sen nodded awkwardly. "Zhao Xiyue's attitude is crucial."

Ji Wan nodded, her eyes fixed on something in the void, as if she was thinking quickly. Just one day later, the woman who had been pale and shaky in the hospital now seemed to have been reborn.

She stood up, her movements were still a little shaky, but her eyes were extremely firm.

"Assistant Lin," she turned to Lin Sen, "Send me everything you know about Zhao Xiyue, including her recent movements, relationships, weaknesses, and preferences."

Lin Sen was stunned for a moment, and subconsciously asked: "Miss Ji, what do you want these for?"

Ji Wan walked to the window, looked at the gray sky outside, and a very faint, yet cold and resolute arc appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"Since she is the key," her voice was calm and without a trace of emotion, "then I will go and meet her in person."

She turned around and glanced at Lin Sen and Uncle Zhong: "Uncle Zhong, please prepare a generous gift for me. It must show your sincerity."

Lin Sen looked at Ji Wan at this moment and felt a chill rising from his back.

After experiencing such a huge shock and change, this woman was not defeated. Instead, she calmed down at an unimaginable speed and quickly found the key point to break the deadlock.

Her strength and calmness far exceeded everyone's expectations.

"Yes, Miss Ji." Uncle Zhong responded immediately, but his heart was in turmoil.

Ji Wan took a deep breath and gently stroked his lower abdomen. A hint of tenderness flashed in his eyes, but was quickly replaced by sharpness.

For the sake of her child, for Chi Wenyan, and for herself, she cannot fall down.

Zhao Xiyue, she wanted to see what tricks this woman was trying to play.

The next day.

When Zhao Xiyue opened the door and saw Ji Wanshi standing outside, a trace of clear surprise flashed across her eyes.

She had anticipated many possibilities, even imagined that Ji Wanhui would collapse and come to her house hysterically to question her, but she had never expected the scene before her.

Ji Wan was wearing a well-fitting beige suit with a light brown cashmere coat over it. Her long hair was neatly tied up, revealing her smooth forehead and pretty face.

Except for the faint blue shadows under her eyes and the slightly pale lips, she looked a little too calm. Her eyes, which were filled with tears not long ago, were now as calm as a deep pool, with a sharp insight into people's hearts.

"Miss Ji?" Zhao Xiyue quickly suppressed her surprise, and the corner of her mouth curled up into her usual lazy and provocative smile, "What a rare guest. Please come in."

Ji Wan ignored the subtlety of her tone and walked straight into the luxuriously decorated yet deserted apartment.

The generous gift prepared by Uncle Zhong was carried by the accompanying bodyguard and placed silently beside the entrance.

"No need to bother," Ji Wan stopped in front of a set of expensive-looking sofas, with no intention of sitting down. His eyes were fixed directly on Zhao Xiyue. "Miss Zhao should know why I came here today."

Zhao Xiyue poured herself a glass of water and drank it slowly and leisurely with an elegant posture, but her eyes were looking at Ji Wan calmly.

This woman was completely different from the gentle and quiet Ji Wan she remembered, who always clung to Chi Wenyan. The calmness and aloofness that came from her bones made her feel a sense of inexplicable pressure.

"Oh?" Zhao Xiyue put down her water cup and chuckled. "What did Miss Ji mean? Did President Chi suddenly lose contact, or is it something else?"

She paused deliberately, her eyes vaguely sweeping over Ji Wan's flat belly, and then stroked her slightly bulging belly.

Ji Wan's eyes remained calm, as if he hadn't received the silent challenge. "The casino manager who framed Chi Wenyan has disappeared."

She stated the facts in a steady voice, "Chi Wenyan needs evidence to clear his suspicion. Assistant Lin told me that you might have a way to find this person."

The smile on Zhao Xiyue's face faded a little, and there was more inquiry in her eyes, "Lin Sen trusts me quite a bit."

She walked over to the sofa opposite Ji Wan and sat down, crossing her legs. "Miss Ji, what makes you think I will help you?"
