Chapter 424: Violence

Chapter 424: Violence

Chi Wenyan rarely showed any coldness. He just sat quietly beside the bed, his eyes fixed on Ji Wan, the tenderness in his eyes almost overflowing.

In the past few months, he was very angry with Zhao Xiyue, but he could only watch Ji Wan's belly grow bigger day by day. All his edges and impatience were smoothed out, leaving only infinite concern for her and the unborn child.

"Hmm..." Ji Wan suddenly let out a soft hum, frowned slightly, and subconsciously touched his lower abdomen with his hand.

Chi Wenyan's heart instantly rose to his throat. He immediately leaned forward and said in a tense voice, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Ji Wan closed her eyes and felt it for a few seconds. After a few seconds, the sudden pain came back, more distinct than before. She opened her eyes and looked at Chi Wenyan with a hint of certainty in her eyes: "It seems... I'm about to give birth."

"What?" Chi Wenyan stood up suddenly, his handsome face instantly losing color, his usual calm and composed appearance gone. He turned around twice, like a headless fly, "Giving birth? Now? There's still a week..."

"It's normal to start early." Ji Wan was relatively calm, but beads of sweat oozed from his forehead and his breathing was a little rapid.

"Yes, yes, it's normal, normal," Chi Wenyan echoed repeatedly, pacing around the room in a panic, "Hospital, let's go to the hospital right away. Where are the things? The delivery bag, I remember putting it in..."

He rushed to the cloakroom, dug out the delivery bag he had prepared long ago, and rushed back, "What else? What else do I need to bring? Your ID, my ID."

Seeing his panic-stricken look, Ji Wan couldn't help but curl the corners of her mouth, but was interrupted by a wave of contractions. She took a deep breath.

Seeing this, Chi Wenyan became even more anxious. He rushed over and carefully supported her: "Don't be afraid, Wanwan, don't be afraid. I'll call a taxi right away. No, my car is downstairs. I'll carry you down."

"I can walk by myself." Ji Wan held his arm and used the force to stand up.

"No, you can't move." Chi Wenyan picked her up sideways in a domineering manner, but his movements were extremely gentle, for fear of shaking her even a little.

His heart was beating like a drum, and his arms holding Ji Wan were trembling slightly.

All the way from the bedroom to the elevator, and then to the parking lot downstairs, Chi Wenyan never stopped talking. Sometimes he whispered to comfort Ji Wan, and sometimes he confirmed the process as if talking to himself in the air. He was so nervous that the veins on his forehead were popping.

After getting into the car, he started the car quickly and picked up his mobile phone. His fingers were a little out of control due to nervousness, and he dialed Zhao Xiyue's number.

The call was answered almost instantly, and Zhao Xiyue's sleepy voice came: "Hello? Mr. Chi? What's going on so late at night... Is there something wrong with Wanwan?"

She woke up instantly.

"Wanwan is about to give birth. Let's go to the hospital now." Chi Wenyan's voice was fast and urgent, with uncontrollable panic.

"What? So soon." Zhao Xiyue exclaimed, and there was a rustling sound in the background. She was also pregnant and had difficulty moving. "Oh. I... I'm almost due now. My stomach feels so heavy. The doctor told me to try not to get excited... I..."

Zhao Xiyue was extremely anxious. On the one hand, she was worried about Ji Wan and wanted to fly over immediately. On the other hand, she was well aware of her current situation. If she got emotionally excited and started to act up, it would really cause chaos.

"Don't come over here," Ji Wan answered the phone. Although his voice was a little weak, it was still steady. "Stay home and don't worry about me."

"Wanwan..." Zhao Xiyue's voice was filled with tears. "You must be fine, Chi Wenyan, listen to me, if anything happens to Wanwan, I will never forgive you."

"Shut up, I know." Chi Wenyan yelled into the phone. His tone was anxious, but also revealed an unquestionable determination.

He hung up the phone, threw it aside, gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands, stared fixedly at the front, and drove towards the brightly lit hospital like an arrow.

Nothing must happen to his Wanwan, his child.

They rushed all the way at lightning speed, and when they arrived at the hospital, Chi Wenyan almost rushed into the emergency hall carrying Ji Wan. His nervous and anxious look made the medical staff who were used to all kinds of scenes couldn't help but look sideways.

"Doctor, hurry, my wife is about to give birth." He shouted loudly, his voice a little hoarse due to excessive tension, but full of power that could not be ignored.

Soon, Ji Wan was sent to the delivery room. Chi Wenyan was stopped outside. He looked at the closed door and felt such a strong palpitation and powerlessness for the first time.

He paced back and forth in the corridor anxiously, his usually stern face now filled with unprecedented fear and anxiety.

Time has never been so difficult.

The door to the delivery room seemed to separate two worlds. Outside, Chi Wenyan waited anxiously in purgatory, while inside, Ji Wan battled the excruciating pain for a long time.

Time crawled by minute by minute, and every second was like a needle tip, piercing Chi Wenyan's heart.

Sometimes he stuck to the door, trying to catch the slightest movement inside, and sometimes he suddenly stepped back, raking his messy hair in annoyance, with red bloodshot eyes.

Occasionally, a nurse would come in and out, and he would immediately rush over to her: "What's going on? How's my wife?"

"Mr. Chi, please calm down. Delivery takes time." The nurse tried to comfort him, but was frightened by the bloodshot in his eyes and took a step back.

"How long will it take? She's in so much pain, can't you hear me?" He growled, his voice hoarse and on the verge of collapse.

One hour, two hours... five hours...

The sky turned from black to white, then from white to golden, and then gradually sank into dusk. The lights in the corridor came on, illuminating Chi Wenyan's exhausted but still upright figure.

He had been standing, pacing, and leaning here for a whole day and night.

During this time, he tried to rush in several times, but was stopped every time. "Sir, you will disturb the mother and the doctor."

"I don't care, I want to stay with her." He was like a trapped beast, his fists clenched tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force.

Ji Wan's cries of pain came intermittently, and each time was like a heavy hammer hitting Chi Wenyan's heart.

He closed his eyes and rested his forehead against the cold wall. All he could think of was Ji Wan's pale face and cold sweat.

It was his fault. He made her suffer all this. If he could, he would rather bear this heart-wrenching pain for her.

"Ah——!" A high-pitched cry of pain accompanied by suppressed sobs gripped Chi Wenyan's nerves.

He rushed to the door and slammed it hard: "Wanwan, Wanwan, I'm here, don't be afraid."

Inside the door, Ji Wan's sweaty hair stuck to his cheeks, his lips were bitten bloodless, and his consciousness was almost blurred in the severe pain.
