Chapter 428: Don’t Be Soft-hearted

Chapter 428: Don’t Be Soft-hearted

"Pity? She almost killed your child, and you still feel pity for her?"

Zhao Xiyue couldn't believe her ears. She stood up suddenly, her chest heaving violently.

"Wanwan, you're just too kind. You can't be soft-hearted towards people like this. Just because she's mentally ill, does that mean she can just snatch someone else's child? Who's going to pay for her pity and your fear?"

She became more and more excited as she spoke, her voice getting louder and louder, and her face turned red with anger.

"Chi Wenyan." Zhao Xiyue turned to him suddenly and asked harshly, "Tell me, how did you deal with it? Don't tell me you let her go because she felt sorry for you."

Chi Wenyan looked at her excited emotions, frowned slightly, and said in a deep voice: "Send her to a mental hospital and imprison her for life."

After hearing this result, Zhao Xiyue's anger subsided a little, but the anger in her heart was still hard to calm down.

"You're so cruel."

She gritted her teeth, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen. She hissed and subconsciously bent down to cover her stomach.

"Xiyue, what's wrong with you?" Ji Wan exclaimed and struggled to get up.

"It's okay... just... my stomach hurts a little..."

Cold sweat instantly broke out on Zhao Xiyue's forehead and her face turned pale. The pain came so suddenly and fiercely that she could hardly stand.

Chi Wenyan's face changed, and he immediately pressed the emergency call bell at the bedside, and shouted to the bodyguard at the door: "Call a doctor quickly."

Zhao Xiyue held her stomach, unable to speak due to the pain, and her body was shaking.

Ji Wan's eyes turned red with anxiety: "Xiyue, don't scare me, doctor, doctor, come quickly."

She didn't expect that just as she was out of danger, Zhao Xiyue got a miscarriage because she was angry for her.

The entire ward instantly fell into a new chaos.

The doctor and nurse rushed in as quickly as possible. Seeing Zhao Xiyue with a pale face covering her stomach, almost curled up in pain, they immediately went forward to check.

"What happened? How is the patient?" the doctor asked quickly while signaling the nurse to prepare to push the bed.

"She was too emotional just now and suddenly had a stomachache..." Ji Wan's voice was filled with tears, and he was so heartbroken that he clutched the bed sheet tightly with both hands, wishing he could get out of bed and rush over.

Chi Wenyan supported her shaky body and said to the doctor in a deep voice, "She is pregnant, and the due date is still some time away."

The doctor's face froze and he immediately conducted a preliminary examination. When he touched Zhao Xiyue's abdomen, she gasped in pain and tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

"Contractions! Very fast! Hurry! Prepare to send her to the delivery room!" The doctor made a prompt decision in a hurried tone.

"Send to the delivery room?!" Ji Wan and Zhao Xiyue exclaimed at the same time.

Zhao Xiyue's eyes widened in disbelief. The severe pain made it almost impossible for her to utter a complete sentence: "I'm about to give birth? How can it be... now?"

She never thought that the overwhelming anger just now would actually make her child angry!

This is simply... ridiculous and terrifying!

The nurses deftly lifted Zhao Xiyue onto the trolley and prepared to transfer her immediately.

"Xiyue!" Ji Wan struggled to get out of bed, "I'll go with you!"

"Don't move!" Chi Wenyan immediately held her down, his tone unyielding and unyielding, "You just gave birth, your body hasn't recovered yet!"

"But Xiyue..." Ji Wan's tears fell down. Looking at Zhao Xiyue's painful appearance, her heart was broken. "She is alone, she is afraid..."

Zhao Xiyue lay on the stretcher, veins popping out on her forehead from the pain, but she managed to squeeze out a few words: "Wanwan... don't come over... take care of yourself and the baby..."

This was also her first time giving birth. Without her husband or family around her, she was only experiencing endless pain and sudden fear, but she couldn't let Ji Wan, who had just escaped danger, worry about her again.

The stretcher was quickly pushed out, and Zhao Xiyue's painful groan gradually faded away.

Ji Wan stared blankly at the door, tears streaming down her face as a thick layer of guilt and worry welled up in her heart. It was all because of her that Xiyue had lost her baby, and now she had to face the pain and risks of childbirth alone.

"I want to go and accompany her." Ji Wan suddenly raised his head and looked at Chi Wenyan with an unprecedented determination in his eyes, "I can't leave her alone in there."

Chi Wenyan frowned: "Wanwan, you can't enter the delivery room, and you need to rest now."

"I won't go in. I'll wait outside!" Ji Wan shook his head stubbornly, his voice choked with sobs. "She did this for me. I must stay with her! Wen Yan, please..."

Looking at her pale but extremely determined little face, Chi Wenyan felt soft in his heart, but finally compromised.

He sighed, carefully helped her up, and took a thick coat to put on her.

"Okay, I'll go with you." He whispered, his tone soothing, "But you have to promise me that you must tell me immediately if you feel uncomfortable."

He called the nurse, pushed a wheelchair over, personally carried Ji Wan to sit in the wheelchair, and carefully covered her with a blanket.

Outside the delivery room, the cold corridor was dimly lit.

Ji Wan sat in a wheelchair, her hands tightly clasped, her eyes fixed on the tightly closed door. Her heart seemed to be gripped by an invisible hand, and every suppressed cry of pain faintly coming from inside made her heart tremble.

Chi Wenyan stood quietly behind her, one hand on the armrest of the wheelchair, and the other hand occasionally tightening her coat. His tall figure silently conveyed support and protection.

Time passed by minute by minute, and each second seemed extremely long.

Ji Wan's face turned paler and paler, not only because of her physical weakness, but also because of the torment in her heart. She thought of the dangers of her own childbirth, and then thought of Zhao Xiyue fighting alone in there, and her eyes reddened again.

"Wen Yan..." She called softly, her voice trembling barely perceptibly, "Is Xiyue...will she be okay?"

Chi Wenyan bent down, held her cold hand, and used his body temperature to warm her: "Don't think too much, the doctors here are the best, she and the child will be safe."

His voice was low and steady, with a convincing power that slightly eased Ji Wan's panic.

But the tightly closed door still weighed on her heart like a huge rock. Her good sister, who had stood up for her, was experiencing the same pain inside, and all she could do was wait helplessly.

Waiting is a gut-wrenching wait, a gut-wrenching torment. Every minute and every second seems to be stretched infinitely, and the only sounds in the corridor are Ji Wan's suppressed breathing and Chi Wenyan's gentle comfort.

Suddenly, a scream of pain even louder than before came from the delivery room. Ji Wan clenched Chi Wenyan's hand tightly, her nails almost digging into his palm. Chi Wenyan held her hand in return, transmitting his strength with even greater force.
