Chapter 476 Emotional Counselor
"Go contact me right now. The best marriage counselor in the city, no, the best marriage counselor in the country, or relationship expert. I want to see them as soon as possible. Ask them what it takes to win a woman's heart back."
He almost uttered the last few words through gritted teeth, his unwillingness and urgency clearly evident.
"Marriage... counselor?" The assistant was shocked again, but this time he learned his lesson. Without hesitation, he immediately replied, "Yes, Mr. Chi. I'll do it right away and make sure to get you the best one."
Looking at his assistant's hurriedly leaving back, Chi Wenyan closed his eyes tiredly and sank deeply into the soft leather chair.
Ji Wan, are you really so cruel?
Is it really necessary for us to go that far? He doesn't want to, absolutely not.
Chi Wenyan had never failed to obtain what he wanted, and this time would definitely not be an exception.
As the lights come on, the night gradually erodes the sky.
Chi Wenyan was rubbing his swollen and painful Taiyangxue and was about to end this chaotic day when there was a gentle knock on the office door.
"Come in." His voice was hoarse and full of fatigue.
The assistant ushered in a suited man, looking about fifty years old. He wore gold-rimmed glasses and had a gentle yet shrewd expression. "Mr. Chi, this is Mr. Li Mingxuan. I've arranged for you to meet the country's top marriage and relationship expert."
Li Mingxuan wore a professional smile on his face and extended his hand: "Hello, Mr. Chi."
Chi Wenyan glanced at him, without standing up or reaching out, but just snorted coldly.
"Top?" he said sarcastically. "I hope it's not an undeserved reputation."
Li Mingxuan wasn't embarrassed either. He naturally withdrew his hand and sat down on the guest sofa. "Please rest assured, Mr. Chi. I will do my best. So, can you tell me what the main problem is between you and your wife? For example, what kind of misunderstanding has brought you to this point?"
"Misunderstanding?" Chi Wenyan sneered, as if he had heard a huge joke. He stood up suddenly, walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling window, and looked down at the glittering city below. "No misunderstanding."
Li Mingxuan's eyes flashed with a sharpness behind his glasses. "Mr. Chi, communication is the first step in any relationship breakdown. If you are unwilling to be honest, it will be difficult for me to help you."
"Help?" Chi Wenyan turned around, his eyes as cold as the cold night outside the window. "I don't need you to help me analyze some bullshit problem. I just want to know how to get her back. What method can I use to make her come back to me immediately."
His voice suddenly rose, carrying an unquestionable command.
Li Mingxuan frowned slightly: "Boss Chi, emotional restoration is not something that can be achieved overnight, nor can it be forced by some means. We need to find the crux of the matter..."
"That's enough." Chi Wenyan interrupted him impatiently, his tone extremely bad, "I don't have time to listen to your nonsense. If these are all the clichés you have, you can get out now."
The assistant was so anxious that he was sweating profusely. He kept winking at Li Mingxuan, indicating that he should follow Mr. Chi's wishes.
Li Mingxuan took a deep breath and maintained a professional attitude. "Mr. Chi, even if you want her to come back, you need to understand her thoughts and the reasons why she left. Did you do something that she can't forgive?"
Chi Wenyan's face instantly darkened to the point of dripping water. Su Jiujiu's hypocritical face flashed through his mind, and Ji Wan's resolute gaze stabbed him like a knife in the heart. But how could he possibly say such a thing out loud?
"It's none of your business to interfere in my affairs." He picked up the suit jacket draped over the back of the chair and said, "Assistant, please show him out."
After saying that, he strode out of the office without looking back, leaving Li Mingxuan and his assistant looking at each other in bewilderment.
"Mr. Chi, Mr. Chi." The assistant chased out, but only saw Chi Wenyan's resolute back disappear at the elevator entrance.
The night deepened, and the hustle and bustle of the city failed to dispel Chi Wenyan's restlessness. Instead of going home, he drove to a private club he often visited.
Under the dim light, he drank one glass of liquor after another. The spicy liquid burned his throat, but it could not numb his confused nerves at all.
divorce?
The word "failure" had never appeared in Chi Wenyan's life dictionary. Ji Wan, that woman, why did she leave just like that?
Under the influence of alcohol, he grabbed his cell phone and dialed the number he knew by heart from memory.
The phone rang for a long time before it was picked up. Ji Wan's cold voice came: "Who is this?"
"Ji Wan..." Chi Wenyan's voice was heavily nasal and drunken, "It's me."
There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds, followed by a soft laugh, with undisguised sarcasm: "Oh, Mr. Chi, it's so late, what can I do for you? Is it because your Miss Su didn't serve you well and made you lonely?"
"Stop talking nonsense." Chi Wenyan growled, the alcohol making him even more outspoken. "Ji Wan, listen to me, I don't agree to a divorce, don't even think about leaving me."
"Disagree?" Ji Wan's voice suddenly rose, filled with disgust.
"Chi Wenyan, who do you think you are? The emperor? Do you think the world revolves around you? I'm telling you, I'm going to divorce you. Even if you tie me up, you can't tie my heart."
"You dare."
"What am I afraid of? Chi Wenyan, you make me sick." Ji Wan's voice was as cold as ice. "Don't call me again. I find your voice dirty."
"Beep, beep..." The phone was hung up mercilessly.
Chi Wenyan slammed his phone onto the bar with a loud bang. He grabbed the bottle and guzzled it.
He didn't know how long he had been drinking until a sharp pain in his stomach came over him, his vision went black, and he lost consciousness.
After an unknown amount of time, Ji Wan was once again awakened by the urgent ringing of the phone.
She picked up the phone impatiently and saw that it was an unfamiliar number. She wanted to hang up directly, but a sense of unease inexplicably arose in her heart.
"Hello?"
An anxious voice came from the other end of the line: "Excuse me, Ms. Ji Wan? Your husband, Mr. Chi Wenyan, has alcohol poisoning and is currently receiving emergency treatment at the City Center Hospital. Please come as soon as possible."
There was a "boom" in Ji Wan's head, and all the sleepiness disappeared in an instant.
Alcohol poisoning?
That man, how much did he drink? Her hand unconsciously clenched the phone, her fingertips cold.
Despite the countless complicated emotions churning in her heart, resentment, anger, and a hint of worry that she was unwilling to admit, Ji Wan finally grabbed her coat and rushed out of the house.
The night wind was chilly as she drove very fast. The lights and shadows of the city quickly receded before her eyes, just like her chaotic past with Chi Wenyan.
