Chapter 515 Meeting

Chapter 515 Meeting

"What do I take you for?" Ji Wan shook off his hand, his eyes cold and full of sarcasm. "Boss Chi, what are you doing? Who I eat with or what I do with is none of your business. Aren't you also very happy to be with your Miss Lin?"

"Lin Chuxia is my sister." Chi Wenyan growled, his voice filled with suppressed anger and a hint of imperceptible powerlessness. "She just came back from abroad, and my family asked me to take care of her, it's that simple."

"Cousin?" Ji Wan sneered, not believing it at all. "Boss Chi has so many sisters. One Su Jiujiu isn't enough, and now there's Lin Chuxia. Do you think I, Ji Wan, am a fool?"

"I didn't lie to you." Chi Wenyan's tone was a little anxious. "The matter with Su Jiujiu was a misunderstanding. Nothing happened between her and me. Lin Chuxia is just my sister. Wanwan, why don't you believe me?"

"Believe you?" Ji Wan seemed to have heard a huge joke. "Chi Wenyan, your credit with me has long been overdrawn. All I saw was you accompanying the young and beautiful Miss Lin in the hospital, and ignoring me, your 'ex-wife'. All I saw was you deceiving and hurting me time and time again."

Her voice also rose, with a crying tone, full of grievance and despair.

"I didn't." Chi Wenyan took a step forward and wanted to hug her, but was pushed away by Ji Wan.

"Don't touch me." Ji Wan took a step back, his eyes filled with disgust. "Chi Wenyan, there's nothing more to say between us. I'll have my lawyer give you the divorce agreement as soon as possible. I hope you'll sign it so we can part ways amicably."

"I won't get a divorce." Chi Wenyan said firmly, with a paranoid madness in his eyes, "Ji Wan, don't even think about leaving me."

"You..." Ji Wan was so angry that he trembled all over. "You are shameless."

The atmosphere between the two was tense and the air was so heavy that it was almost suffocating.

Chi Wenyan looked at Ji Wan's face, filled with resistance and disappointment, and felt a pang of heartache. He knew that this misunderstanding was even deeper than the one with Su Jiujiu. He tried to explain, but she wouldn't listen.

A deep feeling of powerlessness surrounded him again.

Ji Wan turned her head away and stopped looking at him. Her voice was cold and tired: "Go away. I don't want to see you again."

Chi Wenyan stood there, his chest heaving violently. Finally, as if all his strength had been drained from him, he turned around dejectedly and left the apartment step by step with heavy weight.

The door was closed, isolating the two worlds.

Ji Wan leaned against the door panel, slowly slid down to sit on the ground, and tears finally burst out.

At the same time, Chi Wenyan's assistant received a call.

"Mr. Chi."

"Su Jiujiu can arrange for another amniocentesis DNA test." Chi Wenyan's voice was hoarse and cold, without a trace of emotion. "You go and do it yourself, and make sure to get the most accurate results. I don't want any more mistakes."

"Yes, Mr. Chi." The assistant responded respectfully.

After hanging up the phone, Chi Wenyan sat in the car, looking at the lighted window of the apartment building where Ji Wan lived, his eyes bloodshot.

Wanwan, I will definitely prove my innocence. Whether it's Su Jiujiu or Lin Chuxia, I will give you an explanation.

But, are you still willing to believe me?

Three days later.

The top-floor office of the Chi Group was still brightly lit late at night.

Chi Wenyan leaned back against the cold leather chair, a lingering trace of fatigue between his handsome features. The ashtray was already overflowing with cigarette butts, each one a reminder of his anxious anticipation. For the past three days, he'd barely slept, tackling a mountain of work and waiting for the outcome that would change everything.

Ji Wan's determination was like a blunt knife, slicing at his heart day and night.

He didn't dare to bother her again, fearing she would dislike him even more. The only thing that supported him was the truth that was about to be revealed.

The cell phone on the table suddenly rang, and the ringtone was particularly harsh in the silent night.

Chi Wenyan's heart suddenly tightened, and he almost immediately grabbed the phone. When he saw that the caller ID showed his assistant's name, his fingertips trembled.

"Mr. Chi." The assistant's voice was as respectful as ever, but with a barely perceptible hint of ease.

"What's the result?" Chi Wenyan's voice was very hoarse, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from the depths of his throat.

There was a pause on the other end of the phone, and then the assistant's clear and affirmative answer came: "Mr. Chi, the DNA test results of the fetus in Su Jiujiu's belly are out. After another expedited comparison, it is confirmed that the child is not yours."

Not his.

These four words exploded in Chi Wenyan's mind like thunder.

A huge ecstasy instantly swept over him, dispelling the gloom and fatigue of the past few days. His tense nerves suddenly relaxed, and his whole body felt like a heavy burden had been lifted off, and even his breathing became lighter.

"Okay, okay, okay." He said "Okay" three times in a row, his voice filled with uncontrollable excitement and trembling. "I know, you did a great job."

He almost jumped up.

Wanwan, I'm going to tell Wanwan.

This thought burned like wildfire in his heart. He wanted to tell her in person that he had not betrayed her, that Su Jiujiu's child had nothing to do with him, and that it was all a misunderstanding.

After hanging up the phone, Chi Wenyan grabbed his suit jacket from the back of the chair and rushed out of the office without waiting for a moment. He didn't even call a driver and headed straight for the underground parking lot.

He wanted to get to her as quickly as possible.

The night was thick, and the black Bentley was speeding along the empty streets. Chi Wenyan's hands on the steering wheel were shaking, not because of nervousness, but because of extreme excitement and anticipation.

He wondered if Ji Wan would forgive him a little after knowing the truth? At least, she wouldn't look at him with that cold and disgusted look anymore, right?

As long as she gave him a chance to explain, as long as she was willing to listen, he was willing to do anything.

Just as his heart was pounding and his mind was full of thoughts, a glaring high beam suddenly came towards him from the side without warning.

Chi Wenyan's pupils suddenly shrank and he slammed the steering wheel to the right.

"Bang--!"

The harsh sound of brakes and a violent collision sounded at the same time, and an out-of-control truck slammed into the side of his car like a wild beast.

The world was spinning.

Severe pain radiated from all over his body, and the windshield shattered like a spider web in an instant. Chi Wenyan felt a warm liquid sliding down his forehead, blurring his vision.

The truck that caused the accident did not stop for a moment. After the collision, it accelerated away from the scene and disappeared into the night in an instant.

My consciousness was gradually withdrawing, and my body felt like it was being crushed.

"Wanwan..." He murmured with his last bit of strength, "I haven't told you yet"

The darkness completely swallowed him.
