Chapter 521 Press Conference

Chapter 521 Press Conference

Every word is sonorous and powerful.

The reporters looked at each other in bewilderment. From Ji Wan's determined expression and forceful words, they sensed something unusual. This woman, with her husband, Chi Wenyan, bedridden, had unleashed such astonishing energy.

The press conference lasted for an hour, and Ji Wan answered all questions in an orderly manner without any mistakes.

Not only did she clarify the rumors, she also took the opportunity to demonstrate the strength of the Chi family and her own courage, sounding a wake-up call to all those who coveted it.

Night falls and the lights come on.

The lights were on in Chi Wenyan's CEO office.

Ji Wan rubbed his swollen temples, but the mountain of documents in front of him did not decrease at all.

She has been working for more than fifteen hours straight, from the early morning press conference to late at night, with almost no break.

A wave of nausea surged in her stomach, but she suppressed it and took a sip of the coffee beside her.

The bitter liquid slid down his throat, slightly dispelling the sleepiness, but making the stomach discomfort more obvious.

"Chi Wenyan, you'd better wake up soon." She whispered to herself, her voice carrying a barely perceptible hint of fatigue and hoarseness. "Otherwise, when you wake up, I'll settle the score with you, even with interest!"

She took a deep breath and was about to pick up another document when her vision suddenly went dark and the whole world spun.

“Hmm…”

Ji Wan groaned, his body swaying uncontrollably. He subconsciously reached out to hold onto the edge of the desk, barely able to steady himself. Cold sweat dripped down his forehead.

"Mr. Ji!" An anxious voice sounded at the door.

It’s Chi Wenyan’s special assistant, Xiao Chen.

He had just come back from handling some external affairs and was about to report to Ji Wan. As soon as he entered the room, he saw her face pale and shaky.

Assistant Chen rushed to the desk and held Ji Wan's arm, his tone full of worry: "Mr. Ji, what's wrong with you? You look so bad! Are you too tired?"

Ji Wan closed her eyes and forced herself to calm down. The dizziness subsided slightly. She pushed Assistant Chen's hand away, still trying to maintain a steady voice: "It's okay."

"How can you be okay!" Assistant Chen said anxiously, "You haven't had much rest since this morning, and you haven't eaten properly! I'll take you to the hospital!"

"No need." Ji Wan waved his hand and sat down in the chair again, but his movements were much slower than usual. "It's just an old problem, low blood sugar. It will be fine after a while."

She didn't want to show weakness at this time, especially in front of Chi Wenyan's people.

Assistant Chen looked at her pale cheeks and stubborn eyes, frowning, "Boss Ji, your health is more important. Boss Chi is in this state right now, and the company depends entirely on you. If you collapse again..."

"I won't fall." Ji Wan interrupted him, her voice was not loud, but it revealed an unquestionable firmness, "Chi family, I'm here." She paused and added, "You go and do your thing, I'll be back after I finish this."

Assistant Chen opened his mouth, wanting to persuade him again, but Ji Wan had already lowered his head again, his gaze once again fixed on the densely packed documents. He could only sigh helplessly, "Then I'll pour you a glass of warm water and prepare something to eat."

"Yeah." Ji Wan responded lightly without looking up again.

However, the fingertips of the hand holding the pen were trembling slightly.

This little thing was not enough to break her down.

Chi Wenyan, just lie down and wait for you to wake up. I want you to see a Chi family that is intact and even more powerful!

The silence of the night was broken by a rapid ring of the phone.

Ji Wan suddenly raised his head from the documents, his heart skipping a beat uncontrollably.

Who would it be at this time?

She glanced at the caller ID and saw it was an unfamiliar local number.

I pressed the answer button, and the voice was a little hoarse because it hadn't spoken for a long time: "Hello?"

"Excuse me, is this Ms. Ji Wan? Mr. Chi Wenyan's family member?" A slightly anxious female voice came from the other end of the phone.

Ji Wan's heart instantly rose to his throat, and his fingertips holding the phone turned white. "I am! What happened to Wen Yan?"

Could it be that her condition had worsened? The thought chilled her to the bone.

"Ms. Ji, don't worry. Mr. Chi... he's awake!" The nurse's voice was filled with excitement and relief.

woke up? !

These two words exploded in Ji Wan's mind like a thunderbolt.

My thoughts, which were confused by fatigue and dizziness a moment ago, were instantly made clear by this news.

She almost jumped up, and the chair slid backward with her, making a harsh friction sound.

"What did you say? He woke up?!" Ji Wan's voice rose uncontrollably, trembling with disbelief.

"Yes, he just woke up. The doctor is doing a preliminary examination. Do you... do you want to come over?"

"I'll be right there!"

Ji Wan hung up the phone without even saying hello to his assistant. He grabbed his coat and car keys from the back of the chair and rushed out of the president's office like a gust of wind.

The fatigue from fifteen hours of continuous work and the nausea in my stomach were all forgotten at this moment.

She had only one thought - go to the hospital!

Chi Wenyan, you finally woke up.!

You owe me, we should settle it.

We sped along at lightning speed, and the city's neon lights stretched out long strips of light outside the car window.

Ji Wan gripped the steering wheel tightly, beads of sweat oozing from his palms.

She had imagined the scene when he woke up countless times, imagined how she would question him, how she would throw the divorce agreement in his face.

But when this moment really came, her feelings were so complicated that they were hard to describe.

The smell of disinfectant in the hospital is still pungent.

Ji Wan almost ran towards Chi Wenyan's ward, her high heels making quick and crisp "tapping" sounds on the smooth floor.

At the door of the ward, the attending physician and his assistant were talking in low voices. When they saw her coming, they stopped.

"Mr. Ji!" The assistant came forward with a strange look of joy and worry on his face.

The doctor also nodded: "Miss Ji, Mr. Chi is indeed awake, his vital signs are stable, but..."

"But what happened to him?" Ji Wan's heart tightened again, and his eyes passed over them and looked into the ward.

Through the glass window on the door, she saw Chi Wenyan half leaning on the hospital bed, his face still pale, but his eyes, which once were deep and sharp, were now open, looking around with a hint of confusion.

Ji Wan's hands trembled slightly as he pushed open the ward door.

She walked in step by step, each step heavy.

"Chi Wenyan." She spoke, her voice a little dry.

The man on the hospital bed turned his head when he heard the voice and his eyes fell on her face.

Those were a pair of clear yet unfamiliar eyes, without the former deep affection or calculation, only pure... confusion.

Ji Wan's heart sank little by little.

"You..." Chi Wenyan looked at her, frowning slightly, as if trying hard to recall something, but to no avail.
