Chapter 534 Pain
He seemed to notice the movement behind him, ended the call and turned around.
Seeing Ji Wan, the cold and hard lines on his face softened a little: "Did I disturb you?"
"Are you dealing with Su Jiujiu's matter?" Ji Wan asked tentatively.
Chi Wenyan did not deny: "Yeah."
"How do you want to deal with it?" Ji Wan couldn't help but ask.
Su Jiujiu was seriously injured, so the law would naturally punish her, but Chi Wenyan's attitude made her feel that the matter might be more than that.
Chi Wenyan walked up to her and gently smoothed her slightly wet hair.
"She's so badly injured. Even if she recovers, her life will be ruined." His voice was soft, yet filled with a chilling coldness that made one's heart palpitate. "But I don't want her to recover so easily."
Ji Wan looked at him, waiting for his next words.
"I have informed all private and public hospitals in City A that have state-of-the-art burn units,"
Chi Wenyan spoke slowly, each word clear and distinct, "I don't want anyone to dare to do their best to treat Su Jiujiu. Ordinary treatment can be given, and maintaining vital signs is fine, but forget about the best medicine, the best medical plan, or the best reconstructive surgery."
He paused, a cold arc forming at the corner of his mouth. "I want her to live, but I want her to know clearly, in every minute and every second of pain and despair, that there are some people she can't afford to offend. There are certain bottom lines she can't cross."
Ji Wan felt a chill rising from the depths of her heart. She knew Chi Wenyan was always ruthless in the business world, but to see him so directly interfere with someone's life and treatment, and to retaliate in such a cruel way, still left her with a strong shock.
Su Jiujiu deserved it, but the cruelty displayed by Chi Wenyan at this moment also made her feel unfamiliar.
"Wouldn't this be too..."
Ji Wan hesitated a little, but when he met Chi Wenyan's deep black eyes, he swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
He was venting his anger on her behalf.
This desperate protection was heavy and made her feel unprecedented security, but it also overturned her perception of this man.
"To be kind to her is to be cruel to you."
Chi Wenyan held her hand, his palm still warm, "Ji Wan, I will never give anyone the chance to hurt you again. Not even once."
His eyes were focused and determined, as if to draw her in.
Ji Wan's heart was in turmoil at this moment. Her determination to divorce seemed to waver even slightly.
This night seemed particularly long and complicated because of the shock of the day, Chi Wenyan's unexpected return and his strong protection.
She didn't ask any more questions, but let him take her hand and walk towards the bedroom.
Maybe, there are some things that she needs time to digest.
Chi Wenyan seemed to have noticed her tiredness and confusion, and didn't say anything more, just stayed by her side quietly.
The night outside the window was dark, but inside the house, there was an unusual sense of peace because of the return of a person.
Outside the intensive care unit of the burn department of the Municipal Hospital.
"Ah! It hurts! Give me painkillers! Give me an injection!"
Su Jiujiu's shrill and discordant screams could be heard intermittently even through the heavy ward door, like a blunt knife cutting the listener's eardrum.
Several young nurses were standing near the door, holding medicine trays. They all looked embarrassed, but no one dared to push the door open easily.
"Sister Liu, what should we do? She is screaming so miserably. Didn't the director say during the morning rounds that we would only give her basic treatment?" A round-faced nurse whispered to the senior nurse next to her.
The nurse known as Sister Liu frowned. "The director's message is not to let her die, but also not to let her get so comfortable. We've already told the higher-ups that this patient's condition is special."
She lowered her voice and said, "Who would dare not listen to what the Chi family said personally?"
The young nurse wanted to say something, but was stopped by Sister Liu's look.
"Do your job well, don't ask questions that you shouldn't ask, and don't interfere in things that you shouldn't interfere in." After saying this, Sister Liu pushed open the door of the ward with an infusion bag filled with only saline solution and the most common antibiotics.
A strong smell of medicine mixed with the smell of burnt flesh hit my face.
Su Jiujiu was lying on the hospital bed, with her head and neck wrapped in thick gauze, revealing only her swollen and deformed eyes and mouth.
The exposed parts of her arms and calves were also covered with redness, swelling, blisters and ulcers, and some areas were even a horrific charred black.
"Painkillers! I need painkillers! You bunch of losers! Don't you understand what I'm saying?"
As soon as Su Jiujiu saw the nurse come in, she immediately screamed in a hoarse voice. Because of excitement, her body twisted violently, which pulled on the wound and made her moan even more painfully.
"Ms. Su, this is today's infusion. Please cooperate." Sister Liu tried her best to keep her voice steady and quickly changed the infusion bag.
"What is this? What are these broken waters for?"
Su Jiujiu frantically waved her arms, which were still able to move. "Don't you want to do this anymore? My dad is the chairman of the Su Group! I'm going to file a complaint against you! I want all of you to get out!"
Sister Liu dealt with her problem expressionlessly, then turned and left, as if she hadn't heard her threat.
"Come back, come back to me, it hurts so much." Su Jiujiu's cries and curses sounded behind her, but Sister Liu quickened her pace and left the ward as if escaping.
This scene had lasted for over ten hours, from the time Su Jiujiu was brought in. The attending doctor showed up once in the morning, briefly examined her, and hurried away, never to be seen again.
There was no trace of the so-called expert group.
The medications prescribed to her were always the lowest dose of antibiotics and some drugs that were better than nothing and had minimal pain relief effect.
Any requests she made for the use of imported special medicines or consultation on skin grafting surgery were evaded on the grounds that her current condition was unstable and required further observation.
Su Jiujiu was suffering in endless pain and fear. She could clearly feel her skin rotting bit by bit and her vitality fading away bit by bit.
She thought of Ji Wan and Chi Wenyan, and the strong hatred and unwillingness almost swallowed her up.
Just as Su Jiujiu screamed again because of the severe pain, the door of the ward was suddenly pushed open from the outside.
"Jiujiu! My Jiujiu!" A well-maintained but haggard middle-aged woman with red eyes rushed in. It was Su Jiujiu's mother, Mrs. Su.
She had obviously just received the news and ran here crying. Her expensive suit was a little messy.
When Mrs. Su saw the person wrapped in gauze like a mummy on the hospital bed, who could only be vaguely identified as her daughter by her figure and voice, her eyes went dark and she almost fainted. Fortunately, she was supported by the secretary who followed behind her.
