Chapter 558 Disappointment

Chapter 558 Disappointment

After hanging up the phone, she watched the two robbers succeed, smiling arrogantly, and ran towards another alley.

A few minutes later, sirens sounded.

Two local policemen walked over slowly.

Ji Wan immediately stepped forward, pointed in the direction of the alley, and said anxiously: "Mr. Police, they ran over there, go chase them."

However, one of the policemen just glanced at her lazily, then looked her up and down with undisguised contempt in his eyes.

"Ma'am, are you sure you saw it?"

His tone was full of doubt.

Ji Wan was stunned. "Of course I'm sure. I called the police right here."

Another policeman took out a notebook and asked perfunctorily, "Did you see their faces clearly?"

"I saw clearly that they were two white people, very tall, one wearing a black T-shirt and the other wearing a floral shirt..."

Before she could finish her words, she was interrupted impatiently by the policeman.

"Alright, alright."

He closed the notebook and spoke in an extremely arrogant tone.

"We have to deal with a lot of these 'little things' every day, especially you outsiders who love to make a fuss."

"Maybe it's just a joke among tourists."

What?

Ji Wan couldn't believe his ears.

She was shaking with anger. "That's not a joke. The woman was pushed to the ground and her bag was stolen. You are police officers. Your job is to protect citizens, not to discriminate against victims."

"discriminate?"

The policeman sneered and spread his hands.

"I'm just stating a fact. Miss, this is not your country. It's best to mind your own business."

His eyes, his words, every word was like a poisoned needle, piercing Ji Wan's heart.

Humiliation and anger instantly overwhelmed her.

Just when she was so angry that she couldn't speak.

A cold, chilling voice sounded behind her.

"Say your words again."

Ji Wan's body stiffened and he turned back suddenly.

Chi Wenyan had stood behind her without her knowing when.

He was wearing a well-ironed black shirt, with an upright posture and eyes as sharp as a hawk, staring at the two policemen intently.

It was an absolute and irresistible feeling of oppression from a superior.

The smiles on the two policemen's faces froze instantly.

They instinctively sensed danger.

"Sir, we are just...going through the motions."

Chi Wenyan stepped forward and protected Ji Wan, whose eyes were red with anger, behind him.

He stared at the rude policeman, his thin lips parted slightly and his words were clear.

"Your police number."

The policeman's face turned pale. "What?"

"I'm asking you, what's your police number?" Chi Wenyan's voice was cold. "I'll give you three seconds. If you don't tell me, I'll have your entire police station, from top to bottom, replaced."

He spoke calmly, yet with a chilling intimidating force.

The two policemen were completely panicked.

They finally realized that they had hit a wall.

"Sir, sir, this is a misunderstanding, a huge misunderstanding,"

The policeman who had been so arrogant just now was now sweating profusely, nodding and bowing, with a flattering and fearful smile on his face.

"It was our fault that we didn't recognize the man in the right spot. Please don't be angry, you and this lady. We will go after the robbers right away."

Chi Wenyan didn't even bother to look at them again.

He took off his coat, draped it over Ji Wan's shoulders, and wrapped her cold hand in his palm.

He lowered his head, looked at her red eyes, and his heart ached.

"It's okay."

He spoke softly to comfort her, and when he looked up at the two policemen, his voice returned to its freezing point.

"Apologize."

The two policemen were stunned for a moment, then they reacted and immediately bowed ninety degrees to Ji Wan.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. We were wrong. We underestimated you. Please forgive me."

The apology was loud and panicked.

Chi Wenyan put his arm around Ji Wan's shoulders and turned to leave.

As he passed by them, he did not stop, but left behind a sentence that made them feel like they were falling into an ice cellar.

"As for forgiveness? You don't deserve it yet."

Chi Wenyan's suit jacket still carried his body temperature. When he put it on Ji Wan, it dispelled the chill of the foreign streets and soothed the turbulent waves in her heart.

She leaned in his arms, and her tense shoulders finally relaxed.

Her body, which was shaking with anger just now, now found stability in his arms.

Chi Wenyan didn't say anything, but just held her in his arms and walked towards the hotel step by step, calmly and steadily.

His jawline was tense, and the coldness around him still lingered.

Obviously, the expressions of the two policemen completely ignited his anger.

Ji Wan raised her head and looked at his stern profile, feeling warm and soft in her heart.

"I'm fine."

She said softly.

"I just feel very angry. How could they do that..."

"I know."

Chi Wenyan interrupted her, his voice low and hoarse.

He stopped, turned around, and took her face in his hands, forcing her to look him in the eye.

"Are you feeling wronged?"

His fingertips gently caressed her red eyes, his movements unspeakably gentle.

Ji Wan shook his head and then nodded.

Wronged.

Of course I feel wronged.

It’s not because I was being criticized, but because of my sense of justice being trampled upon and the blatant discrimination.

A terrifying storm was surging in Chi Wenyan's black eyes.

He took out his cell phone and dialed a number. His voice was so cold that ice chips could fall off.

"It's me."

"I'll give you ten minutes to find out who the two policemen are on duty on the Champs-Élysées tonight."

"I don't want to see them again in this city of Paris."

"Get it clean."

Just a few short sentences, without any nonsense, but full of orders that could not be questioned.

After hanging up the phone, he put the phone back into his pocket. The whole process was so smooth and fast that Ji Wan didn't have time to react.

He lowered his head and looked at her again.

"If you encounter something like this next time, call me first."

"Don't try to do it all by yourself."

His tone was accusatory, but more of it was distress.

Ji Wan's heart seemed to be soaked in warm water, and warmth spread all over.

She nodded obediently, "Yeah."

Back in the presidential suite, the room was as warm as spring.

The nanny was playing with Yaoyao and Nian Nian on the soft carpet.

When the two little guys saw them come back, they stretched out their chubby little hands and babbled.

"Daddy...Mommy..."

The gloom I had just felt outside was instantly dissipated when I saw the child's innocent smile.

But that feeling of disgust always remained in my heart, neither going up nor down.

Ji Wan walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling window and looked at the dazzling city night view outside.

The Eiffel Tower, which she once thought was extremely romantic, now lost its color in her eyes.

This city disappointed her terribly.

Chi Wenyan walked over and gently put his arms around her waist from behind.

"Don't you like it here?"
