Chapter 583 Anger
"hiss--"
The executive who had complained earlier took a deep breath and understood everything in an instant.
No wonder.
No wonder Premier Wen has been exuding a terrifying aura of "keep away from me, anyone who comes near will die" these days.
It turned out that this old matter had come to the fore again.
The two looked at each other and saw understanding and sympathy in each other's eyes.
It seems that this terrible low pressure in the company will continue for a while.
Chi Wenyan stood alone in the empty conference room.
The air still held the aftermath of the previous storm, making it so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.
His tall figure stood in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, his back as cold and hard as a piece of ice that had not melted for thousands of years.
The mess on the ground was a testimony to his anger.
"Madam, you are here."
As soon as Ji Wan walked out of the elevator, Chi Wenyan's special assistant came up to him with a pale face and eyes full of panic.
"Boss Wen...he's not in a good mood today. How about you..."
The special assistant spoke haltingly, wanting to persuade but not daring to.
Ji Wan held the insulated lunch box in his hand and smiled at him reassuringly.
"It's okay, I just came to bring him lunch."
Of course, she could see that the atmosphere on the entire floor was not right. Everyone was silent and walked on tiptoe.
She had a rough idea in her mind.
Ji Wan walked past the special assistant and headed straight for the meeting room.
The door was ajar, and she pushed it gently.
Broken porcelain pieces and scattered documents all over the floor came into view.
And that man just stood there alone, his aura cold and violent.
Ji Wan felt a slight prick in his heart.
That familiar feeling of irritability that comes every year is here again.
She walked in silently without saying a word and gently placed the insulated lunch box on a clean corner of the conference table.
Then she bent down and reached out to pick up the papers scattered on the ground.
One, two... She patiently sorted them out and smoothed out the wrinkles.
The subtle sound of paper rubbing against each other finally startled the man who was immersed in his own world.
Chi Wenyan turned around suddenly, the murderous intent in his icy eyes had not yet dissipated.
"Who let you in? Get out!"
The voice was cold and hard, a rebuke without hesitation.
But when he saw that the person coming was Ji Wan, he froze.
The brutality in his eyes froze instantly, and then a barely perceptible panic flashed across his eyes.
Ji Wan raised his head, holding a stack of documents he had just sorted out.
She was not frightened by him, but just looked at him calmly.
"Are you so angry that you can't get over it with yourself?"
Her voice was soft, but it was like a feather, gently brushing against his tense nerves.
She stood up, put the documents on the table, and looked at the broken porcelain pieces on the ground again.
"This life is so unfair. Every year at this time, I am shattered to pieces."
Her words hit the nail on the head.
Chi Wenyan's jawline instantly tensed.
A crack appeared in that cold, invulnerable shell.
"What are you doing here?"
His voice was low and hoarse, without the arrogance from before, only deep fatigue remained.
Ji Wan walked up to him, stretched out his hand, and naturally helped him straighten his slightly messy tie.
The warmth from her fingertips passed through the thin fabric and touched his skin.
"I'm here to bring you food."
She looked up at him, her eyes filled with clear understanding and heartache.
"I'm afraid you'll get sick from being angry, and then I'll be the one who feels bad."
She pointed to the insulated box on the table.
"I made your favorite sweet and sour spareribs, and also stewed lotus root soup, which is good for cooling down the internal heat."
The two words "homely" carried the most gentle power and easily shattered all his disguises.
Chi Wenyan looked away in embarrassment, his Adam's apple rolling.
"I have no appetite."
This refusal was said without any basis.
Ji Wan ignored him and walked to the table, opening the thermal box layer by layer.
The aroma of food instantly filled the cold conference room, diluting the terrifying low pressure.
"You have to eat it even if you don't want to."
She handed the chopsticks to him with a gentle tone that could not be refused.
“No matter how big the matter is, you have to fill your stomach first.”
"Come here, I'll accompany you."
Chi Wenyan stood there, silent for a long time.
The sunlight outside the window fell on him, but could not warm his heart.
But the woman in front of him and the steaming meal became the only source of light at this moment.
Finally, he stretched out his long legs, walked silently to the table, pulled out a chair and sat down.
The furious tyrant disappeared.
Instead, there was only a tired man.
Ji Wan didn't say anything, but just sat quietly by the side, watching him eat the food mouthful by mouthful.
He ate in a gentle and elegant manner, but his tense jawline and gloomy brows revealed his terrible mood at the moment.
The only sound in the conference room was the gentle clink of chopsticks hitting dishes.
The heat from the food dispelled much of the coldness around him.
Seeing that he had almost finished the rice in the bowl, Ji Wan poured a bowl of lotus root soup and pushed it in front of him.
"Drink some soup to moisten your throat."
Chi Wenyan put down his chopsticks and picked up the soup bowl, but did not drink it immediately. Instead, he rubbed the warm bowl wall with his fingertips.
His gaze fell on a point in the void, and he fell into deep thought again.
Ji Wan looked at him like this and spoke softly.
"Is it about your dad's little thing again?"
This one sentence made Chi Wenyan's body stiffen instantly.
He suddenly raised his eyes, his gaze as sharp as a knife, shooting straight at Ji Wan.
"Who told you that?"
"Who else needs to tell me?" Ji Wan curled his lips, with an expression that said, "Do you think I'm stupid?"
"Every year on this day, you're like a firecracker, ready to go off at the slightest touch. Besides that incredibly biased Chairman Chi, who else has such a high profile?"
Her words were blunt and even a little sarcastic.
But it accurately hit the most painful spot in Chi Wenyan's heart.
Chi Wenyan's face darkened and his voice was so cold that ice chips could fall off.
"Don't mind your own business."
"I don't care?" Ji Wan raised his eyebrows and raised his voice a few notches. "Chi Wenyan, you lose your temper and smash things, and everyone in the company has to live in fear of you. Is this your business?"
"You locked yourself up, refused to eat or drink, and your anger could scare people to death. Is this your business?"
"You are my husband, your business is my business!"
She stood up, put her hands on the table, leaned forward, and stared at him.
There was a fire burning in those clear eyes.
"Tell me, is it fun to torture yourself like this once a year?"
"Does the old man know about this? Does he feel bad?"
"He only feels sorry for his illegitimate child!"
Every word was like a hammer, hitting Chi Wenyan's heart hard.
He held the soup bowl in his hand, his knuckles were white and veins bulged on the back of his hand.
The scars that he had deliberately suppressed and was unwilling to touch were bloodily revealed by her.
