Chapter 586 Something happened
"dad!"
Feng Lou's face changed drastically, and he hugged his shaky body in panic.
"What's wrong with you? Don't scare me, Dad!"
Chi Ronghai opened his mouth and stared wide-eyed, but could not make any sound.
He raised his hands, grasping at the air in vain, his legs gave way, and he fell straight to the ground.
Bang!
The body hit the carpet with a dull thud.
"dad!"
Feng Lou let out a shrill scream.
He squatted down and looked at Chi Ronghai, whose eyes were closed, face was purple, and he had completely lost consciousness. A cold glimmer of success flashed across the depths of his eyes.
But that light was fleeting.
He immediately put on an expression that looked like he was about to cry, and yelled at the frightened servants beside him.
"What the hell are you all standing there for! Call an ambulance!"
"Call an ambulance!"
In the empty banquet hall, all that was left was his "extremely anxious" roar and an old man lying in the mess, his life or death unknown.
In the corner, the cream on the birthday cake that no one cared about had begun to melt, and the sweet smell mixed with the sour smell of leftover wine filled the air.
Everything is just right.
The black Bentley drove smoothly in the city night.
Outside the car window, neon lights were rapidly receding, pulling out brilliant and blurry strips of light.
It was too quiet in the carriage.
Ji Wan held the steering wheel and looked straight ahead, but his peripheral vision would occasionally glance at the man in the passenger seat.
Chi Wenyan leaned back in his chair and looked out the window. His handsome profile flickered in the light and shadow, making it difficult to see clearly.
He said nothing, like a silent sculpture.
But the more he did this, the more Ji Wan's heart sank.
She would rather he got furious and cursed at her than pretend to be indifferent like he was now.
"Chi Wenyan."
Ji Wan finally couldn't help it and spoke softly.
Hearing the voice, the man slowly turned his head and even forced a smile on his face.
"What's wrong?"
"Do you still want to go back and give your father another blow?"
His tone was relaxed, with a hint of self-deprecating ruffianism.
Ji Wan felt as if his heart was blocked by something, making him feel suffocated and uncomfortable.
She pulled over, unbuckled her seatbelt, then leaned over and put her arms around him.
Chi Wenyan's body visibly stiffened.
"Stop pretending."
Ji Wan buried her face in the crook of his neck, her voice muffled.
"You don't have to pretend to be invulnerable in front of me."
"If you want to curse, curse. If you want to smash things... I'll smash them with you when we get home."
Chi Wenyan's tense body softened little by little in her hug and words.
He raised his hands, hugged her back, and rested his chin on the top of her head, rubbing it gently.
a long time.
He let out a low, hoarse sigh.
"I'm fine."
"I just feel pretty bored."
He looked ahead with empty eyes.
“He’s been like this since he was a kid.”
"No matter what I do, no matter how well I do it, he doesn't see it. He only has eyes for Feng Lou."
"I used to think that if I worked harder and was more outstanding, he would look back at me, his own son."
"I only now realize that I am such a complete loser."
Ji Wan hugged him tighter and soothed him softly, "You're not... You still have me."
Chi Wenyan lowered his head and kissed her hair.
"Well, luckily, I still have you."
…
The next day.
When Ji Wan arrived at the studio, the first thing he did was to take out his cell phone and call Feng Lou.
The phone rang for a long time before it was picked up.
Feng Lou's voice, pretending to be calm, came from the other end.
"Mr. Ji? What's the matter with you calling me so early?"
There was no emotion in Ji Wan's tone.
"Come to my studio and we'll talk in person."
Half an hour later.
Feng Lou pushed the door open and walked in, his face showing just the right amount of worry and fatigue.
"Boss Ji, I'm sorry. I stayed at the hospital all night last night and just took a nap."
He sighed.
"Dad's condition isn't good. The doctor said it was an acute myocardial infarction and he's still receiving emergency treatment."
Ji Wan pointed to the chair opposite him expressionlessly.
"sit."
Feng Lou sat down as he was told and wanted to say something else.
Ji Wan, however, went straight to the point.
"Feng Lou, I've decided to withdraw my investment from the companion robot project."
The expression on Feng Lou's face froze instantly.
"……What?"
He seemed not to have heard clearly and scratched his ears.
"Mr. Ji, what did you say just now? I didn't hear clearly."
"I said, I want to withdraw my investment."
Ji Wan spoke each word clearly, his voice was not loud, but it was like a heavy hammer hitting Feng Lou's heart.
"Our cooperation ends here. My assistant will transfer the liquidated damages to your account according to the contract, without any deduction."
Feng Lou stood up suddenly, the color drained from his face, and he could no longer maintain his feigned calm.
"Why!"
He growled uncontrollably.
"Just because of my identity? Just because I'm Chi Ronghai's son?"
"Ji Wan, don't be so ridiculous! This is a business! It's a great project with unlimited prospects! How can you make such an irrational decision just because of personal feelings!"
Ji Wan looked at him coldly.
"It's my money, I spend it however I want. Whether it's sensible or not is not your place to judge."
She stood up and looked down at him.
"I don't want my money to become a knife and stab the people I care about most."
"Feng Lou, you are a smart person, you should understand what I mean."
Feng Lou clenched his fists tightly, his nails digging deep into his flesh.
He is unwilling to accept it!
Seeing that the project was about to get on track, he was about to succeed!
How could Ji Wan cut off the source of the problem at this time!
"You can't do that!"
His eyes were red, like a trapped beast.
"Ji Wan, you're destroying a genius! You're destroying a project that could change the world!"
Ji Wan curled the corners of his mouth, his eyes full of mockery.
"Are you done? If you're done, let's go."
Feng Lou's body swayed, as if all his strength had been drained away, and he staggered back a step.
He stared at Ji Wan intently, his eyes filled with resentment, unwillingness, and a hint of pleading.
But Ji Wan's face was as cold as ice.
There is no warmth and no room for negotiation.
"roll."
She repeated it again, her voice not loud but with an unquestionable command.
Feng Lou's Adam's apple rolled, and finally, all his uncontrolled emotions turned into a dead silence.
He said nothing, turned around, opened the door, and walked out in a daze.
Silence returned to the office.
Ji Wan sat back in his chair, picked up the cold coffee on the table and took a sip.
A bitter taste spread across the tip of the tongue.
But she thought it was just right.
The phone started buzzing at this moment.
A number was flashing on the screen.
Ji Wan answered the call, his voice still flat.
"Hello?"
A woman's voice came from the other end of the phone, sounding a little anxious.
"Wanwan, I'm Li Wen."
