Chapter 621 Smooth Clarification
The stock price of Chi Group rose instead of falling, soaring all the way to an unprecedented peak.
However, all this noise seems to have nothing to do with the top-floor president's office.
"Add another 5 billion and transfer it directly to a special account to be used for school reconstruction and psychological counseling for children in the disaster area. All building materials must be of the highest standards." Chi Wenyan's voice came through the speakerphone, calm and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.
After hanging up the phone, he pressed his tired brows.
A cup of warm coffee was gently placed next to him, accompanied by Ji Wan's gentle voice: "Are you still busy?"
Chi Wenyan raised his eyes, and the fatigue in his eyes was instantly replaced by tenderness. He reached out and pulled her into his arms, letting her sit on his lap, his chin resting on the top of her head, and took a deep breath of her reassuring scent.
"I'm not busy. I always have time to spend with my wife."
Ji Wan's cheeks flushed slightly at his annoying words, but she leaned obediently in his arms and put her arms around his waist.
After that baptism of life and death, all the barriers and misunderstandings between them seemed so insignificant. Every minute and every second now was invaluable.
"Have all the things on the Internet been dealt with?" Ji Wan asked softly.
"Cleared." Chi Wenyan's tone was a little cold. "All the marketing accounts that took the lead in spreading rumors, and the water army companies that fanned the flames behind them, the legal department has sent lawyers' letters to their faces. In this life, they will never touch the Internet again."
This is Chi Wenyan’s style of doing things. Either don’t do it, or cut the weeds and eradicate them completely.
Ji Wan nodded with confidence, she believed in his ability.
In this warm moment, Ji Wan's cell phone on the table suddenly rang.
Two words were jumping on the screen: Fu Chen.
Ji Wan's body stiffened almost imperceptibly. Chi Wenyan keenly caught this change and tightened his arm around her waist. His deep black eyes stared straight at the name, and his eyes darkened.
Ji Wan picked up the phone, glanced at Chi Wenyan, and pressed the answer button.
"Hello?"
On the other end of the phone, Fu Chen's clear and distant voice came: "Ji Wan, it's me."
"Yeah, I know."
"You left your things with me. When are you free to come and get them?" Fu Chen's voice was calm, without any emotion. "Or, can I bring it to you?"
Those were the luggage she moved out of her home when she was getting a divorce.
Ji Wan subconsciously refused: "Don't bother, I can get it myself."
"Okay, I'll wait for you in the cafe downstairs." After Fu Chen said that, he simply hung up the phone.
The office fell silent for a moment.
Chi Wenyan's handsome face was as cold as if covered with frost. He pinched Ji Wan's chin, forcing her to look at him. His voice was filled with uncontrollable jealousy and possessiveness: "Something that fell on him? Ji Wan, have you forgotten whose wife you are now?"
"I haven't forgotten." Ji Wan met his domineering gaze without dodging, "Chi Wenyan, that's the past. We agreed to put it behind us."
She reached out and smoothed his frown, her tone soft but firm: "I'm going to get my things back, and then make a break with the past. You wait here for me, okay?"
Looking into her clear and calm eyes, Chi Wenyan's restlessness was gradually calmed down. He wanted to lock her by his side and not let her leave. But he also understood that trust was the foundation of their rebuilt relationship.
Finally, he kissed her hard on the lips, with a sense of punishment and declaration of sovereignty.
"I'll give you half an hour." He said hoarsely, "I'll pick you up in half an hour."
"Okay." Ji Wan smiled, kissed him back on the lips, then stood up and left the office.
The cafe downstairs.
Ji Wan pushed open the door and the wind chimes made a crisp sound.
She immediately spotted Fu Chen sitting by the window. He was wearing a simple white shirt, with a clean temperament. His profile looked somewhat unreal against the afternoon sun.
On the table in front of him was a small suitcase.
Hearing the sound, Fu Chen raised his head, his eyes fell on her, and a faint smile with ambiguous meaning appeared at the corner of his mouth.
"You're here."
Ji Wan sat down opposite him, her eyes calmly fixed on the small suitcase, which was her only connection with the past.
"Thank you for keeping these things for me." Her tone was distant and polite.
Fu Chen picked up the coffee in front of him and took a sip. His posture was elegant, but the smile in his eyes was not deep. "It's just a small favor. Have you reconciled with Chi Wenyan?"
His questions were direct and frank, without any beating around the bush.
Ji Wan didn't evade the question and nodded frankly: "Yes."
The word "yes" clearly draws a line.
The smile on Fu Chen's face faded a little. He put down the coffee cup with a crisp sound. He took out a beautifully bound document from the briefcase beside him and pushed it in front of Ji Wan.
"Actually, besides returning something, I asked you out today for another reason."
Ji Wan's eyes fell on the document. On the cover were several large gold-plated characters:
"'Sky Dome Project' Business Investment Plan".
"What's this?"
"A project." Fu Chen's fingertips tapped lightly on the document, his eyes gleaming with ambition. "A project on unmanned intelligent aviation logistics. If successful, it will be a disruptive revolution in the industry. I've seen Ji's investment directions in recent years and I'm very interested in this kind of high-tech field."
He briefly introduced the core concept and prospects of the project, painting an extremely attractive business blueprint.
Every piece of data and every prediction accurately hits the point that excites investors the most.
Ji Wan had to admit that, judging from his description alone, this was indeed a genius idea, a gold mine that could bring huge profits.
But deep down in her heart, she felt an inexplicable sense of disharmony. Fu Chen's help to her, his attitude towards her, and his current business ambitions, all intertwined together, made her feel an indescribable strangeness.
As if seeing through her doubts, Fu Chen's lips curled up into a faint smile again: "You don't have to answer me now. You are the decision-maker of Ji's, and I believe in your business acumen. You can take this plan back and study it carefully. I have only one request. If Ji's decides to invest, I hope you will take the lead."
His words perfectly tied human feelings and business together, making it difficult for Ji Wan to say "no" easily.
"Okay." Ji Wan finally accepted the plan, "I'll read it carefully."
"I'm waiting for your good news."
