Chapter 624 Reversal
"The project is good, but the executor is Fu Chen. I don't want you to get too close to him. He's not an ordinary person."
A man's intuition, especially the intuition of a man who is very successful in the business world, is often terrifyingly accurate.
Ji Wan met his gaze, her eyes clear and firm: "Wen Yan, I know what you're worried about. I won't let him lead me around by the nose."
Her tone was filled with unquestionable power: "If we're going to do this, this foundation must be led by me. He can be the initiator and the supervisor, but he can't be the one in control."
She looked at Chi Wenyan, and every word she spoke was crystal clear: "As for him... I will pay attention to my safety and keep the necessary distance from him. I will not let myself fall into any unclear situation again. Believe me."
Looking at the rational, strong, and compassionate woman in front of him, all the worries and restlessness in Chi Wenyan's heart turned into softness.
He held her in his arms, rested his chin on the top of her head, and sighed softly.
"How could I not trust you? Go ahead and do it. I support you in everything you want to do. But, Wanwan, promise me that your safety comes first at all times."
"Yeah." Ji Wan nodded vigorously in his arms.
She accepted Fu Chen's token of allegiance.
But the rules of this game will be determined by her, Ji Wan.
The next day, the sky was bright.
Ji Wan did not delay at all. After Chi Wenyan went to the company, she directly called her own legal team.
"Lawyer Zhang, I need you to draft a cooperation agreement for the establishment of a foundation."
Ji Wan's voice was calm and clear, without a trace of personal emotion. "I'll send you the information about the partner later. The core terms of the agreement are three points."
Lawyer Zhang on the other end of the phone immediately displayed his professionalism, flipping through his notes.
"First, I must be the legal representative and executive director of the foundation. All operational decisions, funding flows, and project execution will ultimately be made by me."
"Secondly, as the project initiator, the partner has the right to supervise and review regular financial reports, but has no right to interfere with the foundation's daily management or personnel appointments and dismissals."
"Third, all donated funds will be deposited into a special escrow account, earmarked for specific purposes, and transparent. We will also establish an independent supervisory board. Partners can nominate a supervisor, but the final appointment will rest with us."
Ji Wan's speech was not fast, but every word seemed to be measured with a ruler, precise and firm, leaving no ambiguity.
She wasn't discussing, she was giving orders.
"Understood, Mr. Ji." Lawyer Zhang understood. "This agreement will absolutely guarantee your dominant position and the purity of the project. I will make sure the other party can't find any loopholes to exploit."
"Very good, as soon as possible."
After hanging up the phone, Ji Wan dialed Fu Chen's number.
The phone rang once and was picked up. Fu Chen's voice, with a hint of magnetic warmth, came: "Have you thought about it?"
"I've made up my mind." Ji Wan said straight to the point, "Come to my studio at three this afternoon. I'll have my lawyer prepare the contract."
Fu Chen chuckled softly on the other end, seemingly unsurprised by her decisiveness, and even rather admiring of it: "Okay, it seems Mr. Ji has verified my 'letter of allegiance'."
"We've checked it." Ji Wan's tone was calm. "So, let's discuss this in the most standard business manner. See you this afternoon."
She hung up the phone decisively, not giving the other party any chance to chat.
At exactly three o'clock in the afternoon, Fu Chen appeared at the door of Ji Wan's studio on time.
He was not wearing the neat pilot uniform today, but a dark grey casual suit of excellent texture, which made him look less fierce and more gentle and calm.
Ji Wan opened the door himself and without much formality, led him directly to the sofa in the reception area.
A neatly bound contract was placed on the desk.
"Mr. Fu, please take a look." Ji Wan pushed the contract in front of him and picked up a glass of water with a calm demeanor, as if he was not facing a scheming partner, but conducting an ordinary business negotiation.
Fu Chen picked up the contract and his deep gaze fell on the black and white words.
He read very carefully, from the first page to the last, not missing even the punctuation marks. Ji Wan noticed that his fingers were slender and clean, and the movement of turning the pages was indescribably graceful.
However, she knew very well what was hidden beneath this elegance.
Time passed minute by minute, and the studio was so quiet that the only sound was the shuffling of papers.
Finally, Fu Chen turned to the last page and saw the clauses that clearly defined the rights and responsibilities of both parties, especially the part that firmly pinned him in the position of "initiator" and "supervisor", while assigning all "control" to Ji Wan.
Instead of showing any dissatisfaction, the corners of his lips curled up in a playful arc.
"Ji Wan, you're really watertight." He raised his head and looked at her with burning eyes. "This contract is even more rigorous than my plan."
"I'm not targeting anyone, I'm targeting the issue." Ji Wan met his gaze, her eyes clear and unflinching. "The Heartfire Project is a good plan, and I don't want it to be tarnished by anyone's selfish motives. Not you, or me."
Her words laid all the underlying motives out in the open.
The smile on Fu Chen's face deepened. He picked up the pen beside him and signed his name in the position of Party B without hesitation.
The handwriting is vigorous and powerful, and the force can be seen through the back of the paper.
"I told you, I just wanted to find someone who could ignite this fire." He pushed the signed contract back, leaning forward slightly, his deep eyes fixed on her. "Now I've found it. As for who will control this fire, from the beginning, I never thought it would be me."
His tone was flawlessly sincere, as if the person who had set up the elaborate scam before was not him at all.
Ji Wan took back the contract without any sense of relief.
She said calmly, "It's a pleasure to work with you."
"It's a pleasure working with you." Fu Chen stood up, his eyes sweeping across the studio's furnishings before returning to her. "The foundation's start-up funds will be transferred to your designated account within 24 hours. If there's anything you need my cooperation with later, please let me know."
He acted like a perfect angel investor, putting up the money, delegating the deal, and then stepping back.
But Ji Wan knew better than anyone that this man would never be that simple.
Every word he signed today was just the beginning of this game.
After Fu Chen left, the studio returned to silence.
Ji Wan did not return to his desk immediately. Instead, he stood by the huge floor-to-ceiling window, watching the dark gray car downstairs merge into the traffic flow until it disappeared.
