Chapter 332 Going to the Hospital
Chi Lin's face grew even darker, and his voice was filled with helplessness. "I didn't know this would happen."
"You don't know?" Chi Wenyan sneered, "You are the boss of the company, you arranged the physical examination, and you tell me you don't know?"
"I just arranged a routine physical examination and did not instruct anyone to harm Ji Wan." Chi Lin defended himself, but his tone was obviously guilty.
Chi Wenyan stared at him with disdain in his eyes, "Chi Lin, as a brother, I have to say that you disappoint me. No matter what your purpose is, you should protect your wife."
The tone that came out of his mouth became more and more sarcastic, "Ji Wan trusted you and went home with you, but you couldn't even guarantee the most basic safety."
"You have no right to lecture me." Chi Lin roared, "She is my wife, not someone you should care about."
"If you really cared about her, this wouldn't have happened today." Chi Wenyan said calmly, "I suggest you reflect on why Ji Wan would rather be held by me than let you take over."
These words were like a sharp sword, piercing Chi Lin's vitals. His face turned ashen, and his fists clenched tightly, as if he might explode at any moment.
"That's enough." Chi Wenyan turned around and prepared to leave. "Ji Wan needs rest and protection now. If you really care about her, don't make things worse."
Chi Lin looked at Chi Wenyan's back, his eyes flashing with complex emotions, "Chi Wenyan, what exactly are your intentions towards her?"
Chi Wenyan stopped and said without looking back: "I just don't want to see innocent people get hurt, that's all."
After saying that, he continued walking forward and soon disappeared at the end of the corridor.
Chi Lin stood there, his anger and jealousy almost swallowing him up. He took out his cell phone and dialed a number.
"Fang Zhou, immediately investigate what happened today, especially that female doctor and the intern. I want to know who ordered them to do so." Chi Lin's voice was cold.
"Yes, Mr. Chi. Does it require...special treatment?" the person on the other end of the phone asked cautiously.
Chi Lin was silent for a moment, "Let's check it out first, and for the rest... wait for my instructions."
After hanging up the phone, Chi Lin took a deep breath and walked back to the emergency room.
Ji Wan is still in a coma and the doctor is treating him.
He sat on a chair beside the bed, looking at Ji Wan's pale face, feeling mixed emotions.
A few hours later, Ji Wan finally woke up from the effects of the drug. She slowly opened her eyes and found that she had been transferred to a general ward.
Chi Lin was sitting beside the bed. When he saw her wake up, he immediately moved closer.
"How does it feel?"
There was a rare hint of concern in his voice.
Ji Wan shook his head slightly, feeling a headache, "I still feel a little dizzy."
She looked around but didn't see the person she wanted to see. "Where's Chi Wenyan?"
Chi Lin's expression suddenly turned cold and hard, "He's gone."
Ji Wan didn't ask any further questions, but just closed his eyes, trying to relieve his headache.
At this moment, there was a knock on the door and two policemen walked in.
"Hello, Ms. Ji Wan. We are police officers from the Municipal Bureau. We would like to inquire with you about the incident that occurred in the hospital today."
The leading police officer showed his ID.
Ji Wan reluctantly sat up and asked, "Excuse me."
"According to our preliminary investigation, Dr. Lin claimed she mistakenly believed you were the third party who destroyed her marriage, and in a state of extreme emotion, she sought revenge against you." The officer flipped through a notebook. "She claims this was a personal act and had nothing to do with anyone else. Do you have anything to add?"
Ji Wan sneered, "She and I don't know each other, how could she mistake me for the third party? Moreover, she clearly stated that she was instructed by someone, this is obviously a long-planned conspiracy."
The police nodded and took note of her statement. "We will continue to investigate. If you have any new clues, please feel free to contact us."
After the police left, Ji Wan turned to Chi Lin and asked, "Do you believe what they said?"
Chi Lin had a complicated expression. "I don't completely believe it. I've already asked someone to check it out."
Just then, the door was pushed open again, and Ning Weiwei walked in with an insulated box in her hand.
"Brother Lin, I heard that Ji Wan was in trouble, so I specially made chicken soup for him."
Ning Weiwei looked concerned, but a subtle emotion flashed across her eyes when she met Ji Wan's.
Ji Wan looked at her, alarm bells ringing in his heart.
She remembered the abnormalities during the physical examination and the behavior of the female doctor, and suddenly had a guess.
All this may be related to Ning Weiwei.
"Thank you, but I don't need it." Ji Wan said coldly.
Ning Weiwei's face changed slightly, but soon revealed an aggrieved expression, "Ji Wan, I really care about you. Brother Lin worries about you every day, I just want to help..."
"I said, no need." Ji Wan's tone became even colder.
Chi Lin stood between the two of them, feeling obviously embarrassed.
One is his wife, the other is his...lover.
"Weiwei, thank you for your kindness." Chi Lin took the insulated box, "You go back first, I'll stay and take care of Ji Wan."
A hint of unwillingness flashed across Ning Weiwei's eyes, but she nodded obediently, "Okay, Brother Lin, you have to take care of yourself too." Before leaving, she looked at Ji Wan meaningfully.
After Ning Weiwei left, the atmosphere in the room became more solemn.
"I want to go home." Ji Wan said suddenly.
Chi Lin frowned, "The doctor said you need to be observed for at least 24 hours."
"I don't want to be here. I want to go back to the hotel." Ji Wan insisted.
"Hotel? Why don't you go home?" Chi Lin frowned even more tightly.
Ji Wan looked straight at him and said, "I need some space to be alone. After what happened today, I don't want to go back to that so-called home."
Chi Lin opened his mouth, as if he wanted to refute, but finally sighed, "Okay, I'll arrange for someone to take you to the hotel."
Two hours later, Ji Wan successfully persuaded the doctor to discharge her from the hospital and she was sent to a high-end hotel.
Chi Lin wanted to accompany her, but Ji Wan firmly refused.
"I really need to be alone." Ji Wan said tiredly, "Please respect my choice."
Chi Lin left, but insisted on arranging bodyguards outside the hotel.
After entering the hotel suite, Ji Wan immediately called Xia Guoguo to confirm that she was safe. Then, she decided to take a hot bath to relieve her physical discomfort and mental tension.
The warm water wrapped around her body. Ji Wan closed her eyes and recalled everything that happened today.
The female doctor's words, the intern's confession, Chi Wenyan's timely appearance... everything seemed like a carefully planned conspiracy.
After taking a bath, Ji Wan put on a bathrobe and picked up his phone to check his unread messages.
To her surprise, she received a friend request from an unfamiliar number, signed by Sheng Yanjing.
Followed by notes.
I am Chi Wenyan's friend.
