Chapter 398: Puncture

Chapter 398: Puncture

Chi Lin and Doctor Lu were startled by this sudden action, and the smiles on their faces froze instantly.

They looked at the documents on the table in confusion, then at Chi Wenyan, their eyes full of vigilance and uneasiness.

"What does this mean?" Chi Lin's smile faded and his tone became a little stiff.

Chi Wenyan didn't answer, but picked up a document and threw it in front of Chi Lin, "Take a look for yourself."

Chi Lin picked up the document suspiciously and flipped through it quickly.

As he read deeper, his face gradually turned paler, beads of sweat began to appear on his forehead, and the hand holding the document began to tremble slightly.

Doctor Lu also leaned over to take a look, and saw that the document was densely packed with Lu Gui's identity information, past fraud records, list of victims, and even his criminal record of being detained for fraud in his early years.

"This...this...this is impossible." Doctor Lu widened his eyes in horror, and his voice became sharp and changed in pitch, like a cat whose tail was stepped on.

He snatched the document and read it over and over again carefully, as if trying to find a flaw in the paper.

Chi Lin's face was extremely ugly. He suddenly raised his head and stared at Chi Wenyan, his eyes full of shock, anger and disbelief.

"You're investigating me?"

"Investigation?" Chi Wenyan sneered, his tone as cold as ice. "You think too highly of yourself. I'm just cleaning up the trash."

"You." Chi Lin was so angry that he was shaking all over, his face flushed red. He stood up suddenly, pointing at Chi Wenyan and shouting, "Chi Wenyan, don't you think you can do anything just because you have these things? These are all slanders and defamation. I don't even know this person."

He pointed at Dr. Lu and denied it sternly.

Doctor Lu was also panicked and waved his hands repeatedly, "Yes, yes, we don't know him, we don't know anything, Mr. Chi, don't listen to his nonsense."

He hurriedly distanced himself from the matter, fearing that he would be implicated.

"Don't know him?" A cold female voice suddenly sounded, with suppressed anger and disappointment.

Ji Wan walked in from outside the box. Her face was pale and her eyes were slightly red, but her eyes were extremely firm as she stared at Chi Lin.

"Chi Lin, at this point, are you still trying to make excuses?" Ji Wan's voice trembled slightly, but it was filled with anger and disappointment. "You used Lu Gui to deceive Wen Yan, asking for so much money, and even tried to use those despicable means to deal with me... Do you have any humanity left? We were husband and wife before, after all, and you hate me so much, so viciously?"

When Chi Lin saw Ji Wan, his face turned even uglier, as if he had been stripped naked in public and was furious.

"Ji Wan, you bitch, how dare you betray me? I thought I was blind before, I knew you had no good intentions."

He pointed at Ji Wan and cursed loudly, completely losing his previous disguise.

Ji Wan felt so cold all over after being scolded by him that she couldn't hold back her tears any longer.

She looked at the man in front of her with a hideous face, like a mad dog, and her heart was broken.

"I betrayed you? Chi Lin, ask yourself, who betrayed who first? Who did anything for money, even scheming against their own family? Who treated a liar as a guest of honor and conspired with him to deceive everyone?"

Her voice became more and more agitated, and every word was filled with accusations of blood and tears.

"Shut up." Chi Lin was hit in a sore spot and became even more furious. "Stop pretending to be innocent. If you hadn't teamed up with that little bastard Chi Wenyan, how could my company have been in trouble? You guys had colluded a long time ago, trying to bring me down and seize my property."

"Chi Lin, you're still stubborn." Chi Wenyan interrupted him coldly, his eyes as sharp as a knife, "Do you think that's all I have?"

He gestured to his assistant again.

The assistant took out a small recorder from his briefcase and gently pressed the play button.

The box instantly became quiet, with only the noisy quarrel coming from the recorder as the rest of the voice could be heard.

"Of course it's little, Mr. Chi. That's not what we said at the beginning. You relied on my 'magic medicine' and the advice I gave you to coax Ji Wan and deceive Wen Yan. Now that you've got the money, you only give me this little change? You eat the meat, but you should at least let me have some soup, right? You know how much risk I'm taking..."

"Old Man Lu, watch your words. What do you mean by cheating? How much is your stuff worth? If it weren't for me, you'd still be telling fortunes in some corner of the world."

"Chi Lin, don't burn your bridges after crossing them. I'm telling you, this money has to be redistributed."

"You dare to threaten me? Old man Lu, don't forget that I still have the leverage over you. If you piss me off, I'll make sure you don't get away with it."

The recording clearly played the content of the internal quarrel between Chi Lin and Lu Gui due to the uneven division of the spoils. Every word was like a heavy hammer, hitting Chi Lin and Lu Gui's hearts hard.

Lu Gui's face turned pale as paper in an instant, his legs went limp, and he almost collapsed to the ground.

He looked at Chi Wenyan in horror, then at Chi Lin, his lips trembling, unable to utter a word. It was over, all over.

Chi Lin's face became even uglier than before, turning from pale to ashen blue, and then from ashen blue to a sickly flush.

He stared at the recorder, his eyes filled with horror and disbelief.

He never imagined that his private quarrel with Lu Gui would be recorded.

After a brief moment of dead silence, Chi Lin took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down. A hint of cruelty flashed in his eyes, and a twisted smile appeared on his face.

"A recording?" He sneered, his voice hoarse. "Chi Wenyan, do you think you can bring me down with just a half-baked recording? Who knows if you forged it? Even if it's real, what does it prove? It's just a business dispute. You think you can do anything to me with this? How naive."

He stiffened his neck, trying to save face, his tone full of cowardly sophistry.

"Naive?" Chi Wenyan's lips curled up into an extremely cold smile, the smile not reaching his eyes, carrying a bone-chilling coldness. "Chi Lin, at this point, do you still think talking is useful?"

He didn't even bother to look at Chi Lin again. He just turned his head slightly and instructed his assistant: "Show him the other document and make him give up."

The assistant stepped forward again, and this time, what he took out from his briefcase was not a recorder, but a neatly bound document.

He spread out the document and placed it on the table in front of Chi Lin.

It was a toxicology analysis report from the most authoritative testing agency in the country.

The report's title was eye-catching, and the content below was even more shocking. In black and white, it clearly stated the specific chemical components contained in the samples submitted for testing, and their effects on the human body.
