Chapter 34

Chapter 34

On the day Song Mingye was to have his follow-up examination, Song Linchuan woke up just as dawn was breaking. He got up quietly and prepared breakfast for Song Mingye: fried eggs and millet porridge, all of which were Song Mingye's favorites, and he even arranged them in a small heart shape.

"Brother, get up and have breakfast. We'll go to the hospital after that." Song Linchuan sat on the edge of the bed and gently nudged Song Mingye. Song Mingye opened his eyes, looked at the expectation and nervousness in Song Linchuan's eyes, and nodded with a smile: "Okay."

Just as the two finished breakfast, Chu Xiaoche and Qi Zihao arrived. Qi Zihao was carrying a lucky charm and stuffed it into Song Mingye's hand: "Brother Mingye, this is for you, it will ensure your follow-up investigation goes smoothly!" Chu Xiaoche patted Song Mingye's shoulder: "Don't be nervous, everything will be fine."

Jiang Ziyu and Mu Nanjin arrived shortly after. Jiang Ziyu held a small drawing of a sunflower, symbolizing light and hope. "Brother Mingye, I wish you a successful review," he said softly. Mu Nanjin carried a thermos containing warm water and a towel: "You can drink if you get thirsty on the way."

The atmosphere was subtly tense as the car drove towards the hospital. Song Linchuan held Song Mingye's hand tightly, his palms slightly sweaty. Sensing his tension, Song Mingye reassured him, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

Upon arriving at the hospital, Chu Xiaoche had contacted the doctor in advance, saving them the time of queuing. The doctor performed a series of examinations on Song Mingye, including ultrasound, blood tests, and tumor marker tests, each of which made everyone's hearts leap into their throats.

After the examination, everyone sat in the corridor waiting for the results. Song Linchuan leaned on Song Mingye's shoulder, his eyes fixed on the doctor's office door. Qi Zihao paced back and forth in the corridor, appearing somewhat anxious. Jiang Ziyu sat to the side, holding a paintbrush, repeatedly drawing sunflowers on a piece of paper. Mu Nanjin gently patted his back, trying to help him relax.

After an unknown amount of time, the doctor came out with the test results, a smile on his face: "Mr. Song, the follow-up results are excellent! The tumor markers have returned to normal, and no residual cancer cells have been found in your body. As long as you continue to maintain good lifestyle habits and have regular check-ups, the probability of recurrence is very low."

"Really?" Song Linchuan immediately stood up, his voice trembling with excitement. The doctor nodded: "Yes, congratulations, Mr. Song. This is inseparable from his active cooperation and your meticulous care."

Song Mingye finally breathed a sigh of relief, and a long-lost bright smile appeared on his face. Chu Xiaoche breathed a sigh of relief and patted him on the shoulder: "That's great, Mingye!" Qi Zihao jumped up excitedly: "Yay! Brother Mingye is alright!" Jiang Ziyu also smiled, his eyes glistening with tears.

After leaving the hospital, Song Linchuan suggested, "Let's go celebrate!" Everyone readily agreed. Chu Xiaoche immediately booked a restaurant that Song Mingye liked and even asked the owner to prepare a small celebratory cake.

The atmosphere in the restaurant's private room was warm and lively. The table was laden with Song Mingye's favorite dishes, and in the center sat a cake inscribed with "May you have a smooth and successful recovery." Song Linchuan lit the candles, and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" together (although it wasn't his actual birthday, it was still a day worth celebrating).

Song Mingye closed his eyes and silently made a wish: that everyone around him would be healthy and happy, and that they could always be together so happily. After blowing out the candles, everyone offered their blessings.

"Brother Mingye, I wish you ever-improving health!" Qi Zihao raised his glass. Chu Xiaoche also raised his glass: "In the future, we can go to more places together and see more scenery." Jiang Ziyu said softly, "Brother Mingye, I will draw more pictures for you." Mu Nanjing nodded: "We will always be with you."

Looking at everyone around him, Song Mingye was filled with gratitude. He raised his glass, his voice choked with emotion, "Thank you all for being there for me during my most difficult time. Without you, I wouldn't be who I am today. From now on, let's live a good life together and see all the beautiful sights in the world."

The group clinked glasses, the crisp sound of the glasses echoing as if telling a story of their deep friendship. Song Linchuan leaned against Song Mingye's chest, tears streaming down his face—tears of happiness.

After dinner, everyone went for a walk in the park. The park was brightly lit at night, and a gentle breeze carried the fragrance of flowers. Song Mingye held Song Mingye's hand, Chu Xiaoche had his arm around Qi Zihao's shoulder, and Mu Nanjin held Jiang Ziyu's hand. The six of them walked side by side on the park path, their shadows stretched long by the lamplight.

Little Whitey ran happily around them, stopping every now and then to wag its tail. Qi Zihao excitedly took photos of everyone, capturing this happy moment. Jiang Ziyu looked up at the stars in the sky, his eyes full of tenderness.

Looking at everything before him, Song Mingye was filled with happiness. He knew he had won the battle against his illness, and behind this victory lay the unwavering support of his loved one and the devoted companionship of his friends. The road ahead was long, but he was no longer afraid, because he knew he wasn't alone. He had his beloved family and best friends by his side, and together they would walk towards a brighter future.

The evening breeze kissed the old windowsill, bringing with it an air of happiness. A long-lost ease and smile graced Song Mingye's face; he knew that his wonderful life was just beginning.
