Chapter 119 The Half-Immortal's Drinking Capacity

Chapter 119 The Half-Immortal's Drinking Capacity

It was already late, and it was snowing. The immortal's eyesight wasn't good; how could he have forgotten his glasses here?

With my glasses in one hand, I hurriedly put on my robe and left Tongmeng Pavilion.

"Madam Huan, where are you going so late?" the guard at the gate stopped me and asked.

"The Prime Minister said I could freely enter and leave the Prime Minister's residence," I said, stopping in my tracks.

This is a legitimate right that I fought for with Cao Cao.

The guards hesitated for a moment, then finally let them through.

It was pitch black outside the Prime Minister's residence, with lanterns casting a faint glow. Snowflakes drifted down from the sky, and I wrapped my robe tighter around myself; it was so cold.

"Cough cough..." A series of light coughs.

That's when I noticed someone leaning against the shadows by the outer wall of the Prime Minister's residence. Because it was late, it was hard to spot without looking closely.

"A half-immortal?" I cautiously stepped forward and looked closely. Who else could it be but Guo Jia in his green robes?

He was sitting on the stone bench with his head down.

"Half-Immortal, what are you doing here?" I rushed forward and handed him half of my robe. "It's so cold! You're sitting here dressed like that, are you trying to kill yourself?! You'll freeze to death!"

He then raised his head, looking at me with some confusion, "Pei'er..."

Her usually pale cheeks were flushed slightly, and she smelled faintly of alcohol.

"What's wrong with you?" Seeing his slow reaction, I sighed inwardly, hoping he wasn't drunk...

"I came out of your room and can't find my way home," Guo Jia said with a smile.

"Are you drunk?" I patted his face and asked.

"It seems so..." He frowned in confusion, then relaxed his brow and smiled.

What a pity... It was so close... He was clearly drunk, but he didn't manage to get drunk next to Tuanzi...

"Get up, it's too cold in here." I helped him up.

They slipped and fell to the ground.

Guo Jia remained slow and sluggish, a small clump of snow covering his head, which was quite amusing.

Seeing me smile, Guo Jia also smiled.

"What are you laughing at? You're not getting any younger, why don't you find a partner?" I glanced at him dismissively.

Guo Jia chuckled and coughed lightly, "Why would you want to harm someone's daughter?"

"Huh?" I exclaimed exaggeratedly, "Our Half-Immortal is handsome, dashing, and incredibly talented..."

Guo Jia just sat on the ground, watching me chuckle, interspersed with occasional soft coughs.

"With such a handsome appearance, if you just waved your hand, a truckload of girls would be waiting to marry you!" I finally ran out of words and concluded.

"Truck?" Guo Jia blinked, puzzled.

"Uh... it's a really, really big carriage..." I was speechless. "...a whole carriage full of girls waiting to marry you..."

"Then why not you?" Guo Jia said with a smile.

I opened my mouth wide and exclaimed, "Wow! The fortune teller can tell jokes now! I've really trained him well!" After saying that, I put on a smug and vain look.

Guo Jia laughed even harder.

Perhaps it was because he had been drinking, but I had never seen him laugh so heartily before. He always had a faint, almost imperceptible smile, a smile so gentle that it seemed as if a gust of wind would dissipate it.

"How about Tuanzi?" I leaned closer to him with an ambiguous look on my face.

Guo Jia stared at me for a long time, then burst out laughing.

"What are you laughing at? What's wrong with me?" I rolled my eyes at him, dissatisfied.

"Ahem..." Guo Jia laughed, "Marrying me would make you a widow."

My smile froze slightly, and I glared at him. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

“I observed the celestial phenomena last night…” He looked up, his eyes, which could see into people’s hearts, filled with a hint of sadness. “It is my destiny, and I am afraid I will not live to see Brother Mengde unify the country.”

The glistening snowflakes drifted down and landed on his slightly pale face, making him look like a beautiful doll displayed in a shop window.

I closed my eyes, blinked to clear the soreness, and gave him a hard flick on the head.

"Ouch, that hurts!" Guo Jia cried out softly, rubbing his forehead.

"You deserve to be in so much pain! You're just looking for trouble. It's snowing heavily today, there isn't a single star in the sky, and you still have the audacity to observe the night sky! You should at least think before you brag!" I jumped up and yelled at him.

Guo Jia blinked, shook the snowflakes off his eyelashes, then chuckled softly, stood up while leaning against the wall, and gently patted my head, "Silly girl."

The tone was like that of an elder facing a child's unreasonable tantrum, with three parts indulgence and three parts tolerance.

...Then, he buried his face in my chest.

My eyes widened slightly, and I suddenly shouted, "Help! Someone help me! Someone come quick!"

The guards of the Prime Minister's residence rushed out upon hearing the noise.

In the warm room, I sat to one side, holding the glasses in my hand, staring blankly at Guo Jia lying on the bed, his face pale, his sunken eyes tightly closed, his long eyelashes casting a shadow in the candlelight.

The door suddenly opened, letting in some wind and snow. Hua Yingxiong walked in and shook the snow off his robe.

He was summoned to the mansion overnight.

"It's alright, I'm here." Gently patting my shoulder, Hua Yingxiong walked to the bedside and carefully took Guo Jia's pulse.

Cao Cao also entered the room at some point and sat down next to me.

After carefully taking his pulse, Hua Yingxiong instructed his maid to prepare the medicine. Before he knew it, it was already dawn.

Someone from the palace came and summoned Cao Cao to the palace. He changed his clothes and left the residence with the palace maid.

"How is he...?" I finally couldn't help but ask after a slight hesitation.

"Life and death are predestined, you don't need to be too attached to it." Hua Yingxiong poured a cup of hot tea and placed it in my hand, only then did I realize that my hands were ice cold.

"What do you mean?" I suddenly looked up.

"Don't worry, with me, Doctor Hua, here, how could anything happen?" Hua Yingxiong grinned, tilting his head back in a heroic pose.

I burst out laughing at his antics.

"Are you really okay?" I asked again, still worried.

"There's nothing seriously wrong for now," Hua Yingxiong assured him.

I was finally relieved.

The door was kicked open with a bang, and it turned out to be Tuanzi. It seemed she had sobered up quite a bit.

Tuanzi rushed in with a steamed bun in her arms, threw the bun into my arms, and then hurriedly went to the bedside.

I glanced at Tuanzi, winked at her, and left the room with Hua Yingxiong in my arms and Baozi in my hands.

Plan Two: Offering help in times of need; warmth and kindness are invincible. (Young man: I just used my charm on you, and you're so clever, you've already learned to apply it to other situations...)

"What's wrong?" Hua Yingxiong was pulled out of the room by me, looking completely bewildered.

I rolled my eyes at him. "Mr. Light Bulb, have you ever heard the saying 'help others achieve their goals'?"

He then realized what was happening, couldn't help but laugh, and then gently tapped my forehead with his hand, saying, "You're too clever for your own good."

I was about to push him away in annoyance when I saw his smile freeze slightly on his face, and then he placed his palm on my forehead.

"What are you doing!" I glared at him. "Weren't we supposed to keep our distance? Aren't you afraid Cao Cao will find out and kill you in a fit of jealousy!"

"You have a fever, you slow-witted, heartless idiot." Hua Yingxiong casually smacked me on the forehead again.

I was furious, but then I realized that my head was indeed spinning.

Hua Yingxiong took the steamed bun from my arms and dragged me along with Mengge.

Sitting on the bed, I glared at Hua Yingxiong holding a bowl of medicine, which was dark and quite terrifying. "You deliberately messed with me. It's just a cold, why make such a fuss?"

"You heartless bastard!" Hua Yingxiong scoffed, holding the medicine bowl close to my lips. "Drink!"

I still vividly remember the debate about topical and oral medications from last time, and feeling lingering fear, I decided to ignore it.

"Where do you think this is? This is 1,800 years ago. There are no hospitals here, no sophisticated medical equipment, not even the most basic anti-inflammatory drugs. A little cold is enough to kill you..." Hua Yingxiong glanced slowly at Baozi crawling around beside me, "Poor little Baozi... going to be tortured by his stepmother... children without mothers are so pitiful..."

I glared at him, and he spewed nothing but crows! Without a word, I snatched the medicine bowl, closed my eyes, and drank it all in one gulp.

Hua Yingxiong grinned, "That's much better."

Seeing his smile, brighter than spring flowers, I couldn't help but wonder if I'd been tricked again. But he was so happy watching me drink my medicine? Aside from the bitterness, there was nothing wrong with it… He didn't gain anything, so why was he smiling like that…?

"Take care of yourself, and be sure to tell me if anything happens," Hua Yingxiong said slowly after glancing at me.

"I'm strong enough to kill a bull!" I raised my hand as if I were a strongman.

Hua Yingxiong looked at me like I was an idiot.

"Also, the weather is cold, so make sure to wear more clothes and don't catch a cold," he paused, then added.

"Wow, I never expected you to be so long-winded," I stared at him incredulously. "You're concerned about me? You're worried about me? Hahaha... Hua Yingxiong, you're fired! Tell me honestly, have you fallen for me...?" I grinned, leaned closer to him with an ambiguous look, and laughed without restraint. "Wow... I never thought I, Pei Xiao, would have such good luck with women... My charm is amazing..."

Hua Yingxiong continued to look at me with the same eyes he would give an idiot, and finally concluded: "I would rather fall in love with Baozi than with you."

I was speechless... I glanced back at the little dumpling who was doing somersaults and blowing bubbles at the head of the bed... I rolled my eyes at Hua Yingxiong, did he have to be so ruthless... He hurt my young heart so bluntly.
