Chapter 122 Zhao'er Goes to War (Part 2)
"Anyone who dares to slander my sister, I'll beat them up, it's that simple," Zhao'er actually grinned and laughed, "Whether they're thugs or heroes, I don't care."
Cao Pi snorted coldly, "Father is going to send troops to attack Yuan, and I order you to go on the expedition with him."
Zhao'er scoffed, "Keep your orders to yourself. I don't care what anyone says except my sister."
"Looking at you now, who do you think you can protect? How long has it been since you saw your sister?" Cao Pi laughed, much like Cao Cao, but his eyes were cold. "If you want to protect what you want to protect, first consider whether you are worthy enough. In this Prime Minister's residence, you can't even see your sister once." After saying that, he turned and left. "The army is ready and will depart tomorrow. Take care of yourself."
Zhao'er stood there, expressionless, then turned and glared at the boy who had been knocked to the ground. "Aren't you going to get lost?"
The boy was so frightened that he fled as fast as he could.
The group of teenagers scattered like birds and beasts.
Zhao'er was left standing alone in the courtyard, blood still stained the corner of her mouth. Her beautiful eyes gradually revealed a different kind of brilliance, which, against the backdrop of the crimson blood at the corner of her mouth, seemed to be burning with fire.
"Chirp... Ee-ya..." Baozi struggled in my arms for a moment, poked out its little head, and made restless chirping sounds.
Upon hearing the sound, Zhao'er paused, then looked up towards the corridor.
I gently pinched Baozi's cheek and reluctantly appeared, while the instigator in my arms smiled sweetly.
“Sister…” Zhao’er looked at me, then quickly lowered her head, trying to hide the scars on her face.
His left eye and the corner of his mouth were bruised and swollen, and his robe was torn, making it impossible to hide. He was looking down with a panicked expression. I couldn't help but sigh inwardly, knowing that he was worried that I had overheard the conversation and that I would be upset by the slanderous remarks. So he deliberately put on a long face and asked a question as if he hadn't heard anything, "What happened?"
Zhao'er seemed to breathe a sigh of relief before looking up and saying, "Zhao'er knows she was wrong."
Seeing his relieved expression, I felt both annoyed and amused, yet also deeply distressed. "What are you doing here?"
"I heard that my sister is sick, and Zhao'er is about to go see her."
"Look at you, you look pathetic. Go back now."
There were too many people and too much chatter in Tongmeng Pavilion, so to avoid being nagged by Madam Ding again, I pulled Zhao'er to his room.
It was a very simple room. Zhao'er stood in front of me, looking somewhat awkward.
I sighed, pulled him down to sit, and carefully wiped the bruises from the corner of his mouth with a handkerchief.
“Sister…” Zhao’er began, but hesitated.
"Hmm?" I looked at him, knowing what he wanted to say. Cao Cao, that fox, was determined to make Zhao'er give up the battlefield. Cao Pi's words just now hit Zhao'er's weak spot.
"Tomorrow, I will set off on my campaign."
As expected, Zhao'er spoke.
I reached out and patted his head, smiling helplessly, "Okay."
He studied literature under Master Shui Jing; he practiced martial arts and was assigned to Cao Cao's army. Master Shui Jing asserted that Zhao'er was no ordinary person, and how could he interfere with his future?
It was already noon when I returned to Tongmeng Pavilion from Zhao'er's place.
Upon entering Tongmeng Pavilion, one sees Cao Cao sitting casually inside, with a group of maids and servants waiting outside the door.
"Where has the lady gone?" Cao Cao asked, resting his chin on his hand as he watched me enter the room.
"I went to find Zhao'er," I answered truthfully.
“Zhao’er…” Cao Cao laughed, “He’ll probably be a ruthless character in the future, beating my son beyond recognition…”
I glanced at him sideways. "Did you complain about me?"
Cao Cao nodded solemnly.
Will you hold Zhao'er accountable?
"What do you think, madam?" Cao Cao asked with a smile.
"You won't," I said, my face full of certainty.
"Oh?" Cao Cao raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
“Who is Cao Mengde? With such a magnanimous heart and such a powerful presence, why would he stand up for a good-for-nothing son?” I showered him with compliments.
Cao Cao laughed and stepped forward, saying, "You are the one who truly understands Mengde."
"As you wish, Zhao'er said she wants to go on the expedition with the army." I pushed him away and said.
"As expected," Cao Cao said smugly.
That's when I noticed a set of armor on the table next to me. "That's..."
"Zhao'er, I think the lady has something to say to him. You should give it to him yourself," Cao Cao said, stroking my face.
A slight thought struck me, and I looked at Cao Cao. When did this guy become so meticulous?
"Do you know why I brought Zhao'er with me on this expedition?" Cao Cao suddenly leaned closer and asked with a smile.
"You are eager to find talented people," I replied with four words.
"This is one of them."
"Hmm?" I asked, puzzled. "What's the second reason?"
"With Zhao'er by my side, I'm not afraid that my wife will run away again..." Cao Cao laughed. "I no longer need to travel thousands of miles to find my wife..."
My face flushed red, and I puffed out my cheeks to glare at him, secretly chuckling to myself. If I left first, Zhao'er would surely know I was back at the Spring Breeze Pavilion in Danyang, and she would definitely come looking for me.
It's no use... Hehe, even foxes miscalculate sometimes.
The expedition was to begin the next day, and this was the time to reorganize the army. Cao Cao took a short break from his busy schedule and then hurriedly departed.
I sat in the room, staring blankly at the armor for a while, then wiped it clean with a handkerchief. Baozi, bored from playing alone, fell asleep on the bed, drool still drooling from the corner of his mouth.
After drinking the medicine brought by Hua Yingxiong, it was already dark.
I fell into a deep sleep without realizing it, and when I woke up, it was already the evening of the next day.
As soon as I opened my eyes, I remembered that I had to send Zhao'er's armor there. Only then did I hear from the maids that the army had already set off, and Zhao'er had come to my room to take the armor, but I had taken my medicine and fallen asleep, so I didn't notice.
