Chapter 24 Dumpling Girl

Chapter 24 Dumpling Girl

"We didn't give ourselves away, did we..." I asked, still shaken, as I sat in the carriage.

"It's alright," Guo Jia said calmly, his clear eyes fixed on the view outside the window.

A true master is indeed a master; their wisdom is unfathomable.

The emperor's parting glance left me terrified, a chill running down my spine.

Wiping away a cold sweat, I secretly made up my mind that it would be best to avoid seeing such important figures in the future, otherwise it would shorten my lifespan sooner or later.

"Xiaoxiao, it's so lively over there!" Aman came up to me, took my hand, and pointed out the window.

I grinned, but I simply didn't have the energy to joke with him anymore.

"Wow, so many people..." Aman continued his exclamation.

I glanced to the side and saw that there were indeed many people.

"Let's go for a walk," Aman said enthusiastically, jumping off the carriage.

Guo Jia hurriedly got off the carriage as well.

"You two..." I protested, my legs were still weak from the fright.

Seeing that they had gone far away, I had no choice but to jump off the carriage and catch up with them.

"Young master...please buy me...young master..." Just as they caught up with them, they saw a chubby girl clinging to Guo Jia's robe.

"Girl... let go... talk it out..." Guo Jia tried to take back his clothes, but he was powerless and could not succeed.

“Buy me, young master…” The girl’s round cheeks were bulging, and she just wouldn’t let go. “My father… my father he…” As she spoke, tears welled up in the girl’s eyes.

On the ground to the side, a middle-aged man lay motionless, wrapped in a straw mat, his clothes tattered and worn.

"It's so hot, my dad..." The girl cried even harder.

Just as I was about to step forward, I suddenly noticed a large fly land on the middle-aged man's face, and then... I noticed the "corpse's" eyebrows twitch slightly...

I raised my eyebrows and stood by with my arms crossed, watching the show unfold.

"Young master..." The girl cried even louder, her face full of tears, her expression sorrowful.

Guo Jia coughed lightly, trying to pull his robe back up.

I couldn't help but chuckle to myself; this was truly a case of a scholar encountering a soldier.

Seeing that his face was turning pale from coughing, I finally had a change of heart and prepared to go forward.

"Hey?" A woman passing by suddenly stepped forward and grabbed the girl. "What are you doing here? Didn't you sell yourself to bury your father three months ago? What are you doing here again?"

The chubby girl paused for a moment, then calmly wiped away her tears. "You've mistaken me for someone else."

"How could that be!" the woman exclaimed angrily.

"Auntie, you've mistaken me for someone else." The chubby girl glanced at the woman with a face full of white powder and spoke calmly.

Upon hearing this, the woman's face turned green. "You brat! How do I look like an old lady? I'm not even married yet!"

I couldn't help but burst out laughing.

An interesting little girl, no more than fifteen or sixteen years old, chubby and fair-skinned, with round eyes, a round face, and a round body...

Round...

What a little liar.

Guo Jia reached out and handed a small money pouch to the girl.

I was dumbfounded. Was this fortune teller a fake? He knew the person was a fraud and still gave them money?

The girl was also stunned and looked up at Guo Jia.

"I'll buy you," Guo Jia said with a smile.

The girl stared blankly up at Guo Jia, without saying a word.

“Pei’er, didn’t you need a maid? There’s no one suitable for you in the Prime Minister’s residence, so let’s have her.” Guo Jia turned to look at me, a smile spreading across his pale face.

I raised an eyebrow. Liars and thieves? That sounds pretty good.

"What's your name?" I asked, looking at the girl.

“Tuanzi,” the chubby girl replied, her round eyes fixed on Guo Jia.

Dumplings? I grinned. Sure enough, they looked like... round dumplings.

Guo Jia slowly walked to the "corpse" and dropped a bag of coins. "Tuanzi has been bought by the people in the Prime Minister's residence. Don't bother him again."

The "corpse" trembled slightly and then froze.

"Tuanzi, let's go." Guo Jia took Tuanzi's hand and turned to walk towards me.

I clapped, and Aman next to me clapped along with me.

"A hero saves the damsel in distress, yes, yes." I nodded.

"Mmm." Aman nodded as well.

"Tuanzi, this is the Prime Minister, and this is Miss Pei. From now on, you will be following Miss Pei," Guo Jia said softly, introducing them.

Tuanzi just stared at Guo Jia, biting her rosy lips hard, and finally spoke, "Young master, you clearly knew... why did you still buy me?"

“If everything is fine, no one would want to make a living by deceiving others,” Guo Jia smiled, raising his wide sleeve to wipe the dirt off Tuanzi’s face.

Round eyes reddened slightly, and Tuanzi lowered her head and remained silent.

"Let's go, you'll be following Miss Pei from now on," Guo Jia said, pointing at me.

"May I...serve only the young master?"

Guo Jia looked at her, his clear eyes crinkling into a smile, "I don't need anyone to serve me."

"But..." Tuanzi still didn't give up.

Guo Jia smiled.

"Yes." Tuanzi immediately surrendered to Guo Jia's gentle smile and nodded obediently.

"Good boy." Guo Jia coughed lightly and patted Tuanzi's head.

I lamented, Guo Jia's power is indeed 100%, yet another innocent flower has been tragically killed.

"Pei'er, get in the carriage, I won't go to the Prime Minister's residence," Guo Jia said, reassuring the newly taken-in maid. Then he turned to me and said, "Please keep a close eye on the Prime Minister's affairs."

I nodded and pulled Aman back to the carriage.

"Tuanzi, stop looking, the immortal has gone far away..." Seeing Tuanzi staring longingly at Guo Jia's back, I couldn't help but speak up.

Tuanzi turned around and gave me a disdainful look, acting all high and mighty.

I chuckled. Two-faced? A total delinquent...

"What kind of young lady is dressed like this?" Tuanzi looked at my soft armor with disdain. "I only want to serve you, young master. You can forget about it..." With that, she was about to jump off the carriage.

I raised my eyebrows. "Didn't you take the money and promise your young master that he would stay by my side?"

"Hmph," Tuanzi replied with a snort.

"If you stay by my side, you can see your young master anytime, okay?" I said seductively, a smile playing on my lips.

Sure enough, with a twist of its chubby body, Tuanzi returned to sit down next to me.

I laughed. (07)

"Xiaoxiao, she's giving you the cold shoulder," Aman suddenly complained.

"It's alright, Tuanzi just has a unique way of judging people," I replied, suppressing a laugh.

It was already noon when they returned to the Prime Minister's residence.

After changing my clothes, I stayed in the room to eat, because I really couldn't stand facing the envious eyes of several women with Ah Man.

"Tuanzi, let's eat together." I said with a smile, calling to Tuanzi who was standing to the side.

Tuanzi looked at me with a puzzled expression. "No need. You are the master, and I am the servant." Although her words were humble, her tone was very firm.

I shrugged and continued to enjoy myself alone.

After a while, I heard the sound of swallowing saliva.

Sure enough, before long, Tuanzi had climbed onto the table and started to eat heartily.

"Hmph, like master, like servant." A mocking voice came from inside.

I looked up and saw a beautiful woman standing at the door.

One of Cao Cao's concubines?

"Auntie, who are you trying to scare by dressing like that in broad daylight?" Tuanzi, her mouth full of food, didn't even lift her head, and mumbled, "I've seen girls in brothels dressed more warmly than you, auntie..."

I choked for a moment, staring at Tuanzi in awe.

"You...you, a mere servant...how dare you..." The beauty trembled with rage.

"You're hardly a mistress yourself," Tuanzi said, glancing sideways at the beauty. "While I may be ignorant, I've never seen a mistress dressed like you. You're just a vixen..."

Well done, you exposed their weakness right away.

The beauty twisted her waist and ran away crying in anger.
