Chapter 25 The Little Liar's Skills

Chapter 25 The Little Liar's Skills

Seeing the beautiful woman angrily running along, lifting her trailing skirt, she didn't pay attention to her footing, stepped on her own skirt, and fell to the ground, landing flat on her back.

"Hahaha..." With food in her mouth, Tuanzi threw her head back and laughed without any regard for her image, laughing so hard that she clutched her stomach and rolled on the ground.

The beauty scrambled to her feet in a disheveled state, gritted her teeth in anger, turned around, and strode away with heavy, resentful steps.

"Slow down, don't choke," I said, glancing at her sideways.

She gave a soft snort and completely ignored me.

After lunch, I stayed in my room, feeling utterly bored. Cao Cao was probably preoccupied with his wives and, unusually, didn't bother me.

I sat on the bed, idly playing with the silver hairpin in my hand, while dozing off.

The little dumpling next to me was dozing off on the table, even snoring softly.

The room was quiet except for Tuanzi's snoring.

I suddenly miss Gou'er terribly. I wonder if he's out of danger. Unfortunately, Guo Jia's search hasn't yielded any results, and I can only worry anxiously.

Although staying in the Prime Minister's residence is good, with plenty of food and drink, and everything is fine, given Aman's status and situation, I will inevitably have to pay a price for this good life. Knowing this, I still can't bring myself to abandon Aman.

Looking down at the silver hairpin in my hand, I saw a simple, antique design and an extremely cheap appearance. Such a piece of jewelry seemed utterly shabby and unsightly in the prestigious Prime Minister's residence. For a prime minister to give away something like this would surely be ridiculed. However, the one who gave me this jewelry was not the current Prime Minister Cao Cao, but Aman. He had spent all his hard-earned savings to buy this hairpin; though inconspicuous, it represented his entire fortune.

In this Prime Minister's mansion, the only people he knew were me and Banxian. Banxian didn't live in the mansion. If he were left alone in this huge mansion, what if he slipped up and revealed something...? Thinking back to the day I sent him back to the Prime Minister's mansion and found the place littered with corpses, I couldn't help but feel a chill.

That day, his eyes were so lifeless.

Lost in thought, I was startled when the door was suddenly pushed open with a bang. I looked up.

The first thing that catches the eye is the beautiful woman who fell and looked disheveled earlier. She's standing in the doorway with a dark expression; she must have been the one who pushed the door open. Madam Ding is standing to the side, along with her maid Xiangwu, and a whole host of servants following behind.

I slowly turned around and glanced at Tuanzi. See? She's here to confront me.

At first glance, my jaw dropped. Tuanzi had somehow gotten up and was standing by the table with her head down, looking like she was waiting to be ordered around.

This girl's ability to change her expression so quickly is truly astonishing.

“Miss Pei,” Madam Ding said. This time, she didn’t call me sister.

I stood up and smiled. "If Madam Ding has something to say, she can just ask Xiangwu to come over. Why bother coming in person?" If you want to stay peacefully in this Prime Minister's residence, you can't openly offend them. Offending women has unimaginable consequences.

"Miss Pei, I heard that your newly purchased maid was rude to Madam Yin?" Madam Ding asked, frowning slightly.

Lady Yin? I looked at the beautiful woman who was still disheveled and hadn't changed out of her dirty clothes. Lady Ding was Cao Cao's principal wife. Although Cao Cao had many concubines, she could be addressed as "Lady" with such dignity. This woman must have quite a background. I glanced at Tuanzi again. She was still looking down, eyes downcast, seemingly oblivious to everything. Good grief, she'd kicked a hornet's nest and now I had to clean up her mess.

"Sister, I'm not saying this out of politeness, but this household really needs a cleanup. Even a servant can bully his master like this," Madam Yin said, her voice icy cold.

I noticed that Madam Ding's eyebrows furrowed slightly without her noticing. Heh, this beauty has overstepped her bounds. I suppose this beauty isn't well-regarded by Madam Ding either. Perhaps Tuanzi's words have come true; in Madam Ding's eyes, she's just a vixen.

I pursed my lips, and before Madam Ding could speak, I raised my voice, "Tuanzi, hurry up and confess your sins to Madam." You want me to clean up the mess? I'll drag you down with me.

The dumpling trembled slightly and then began to shake.

"What are you still standing there for! Come and admit your mistake!" Seeing her strange reaction, I knew what she was up to, so I went along with her and shouted in a cold voice.

The sound was so sharp and piercing that even Madam Ding was slightly taken aback.

Tuanzi bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes, and walked forward, kneeling down pitifully.

"Aren't you going to admit your mistake?" I roared.

I was really yelling, yelling with all my might.

"Madam...this servant was wrong..." Tuanzi spoke in a voice as soft as a mosquito's buzz, her pitiful appearance full of timidity, which was truly heartbreaking.

Seeing Madam Ding's slightly softened expression, I couldn't help but smile. This girl's acting skills are top-notch.

"Where did you go wrong!" I continued to reprimand him in a cold voice.

"This servant shouldn't have spoken carelessly..." Tuanzi seemed frightened by me and started crying loudly.

"What did you say?" I raised my eyebrows and asked.

"This servant is new here and doesn't know the rules of the manor. I didn't recognize the young mistress... Please forgive this servant, madam..." Tuanzi cried with tears streaming down her face. "This servant saw that the young mistress's clothes were very revealing, so I thought... I thought it was... Waaah... This servant thought that the madam of the Prime Minister's manor should be virtuous and gentle, and that her clothes should be like yours, madam..." Tuanzi looked aggrieved and cried very sadly. "As a result, the young mistress got angry, stepped on the hem of her skirt, and fell to the ground... This servant was wrong... This servant was wrong..."

I chuckled to myself. She addressed Madam Ding as "Madam," yet called Madam Yin "Little Madam." Her apology was a veiled criticism, praising one thing while criticizing another, finding fault in every word, directly attacking Madam Yin for lacking virtue and being inappropriately dressed. And yet, Madam Ding was a woman extremely particular about family traditions… Was this girl just lucky, or was her ability to read people's hearts truly masterful?

I secretly concluded that this little swindler was not simple.

Sure enough, Madam Ding's expression softened. "Get up. Admitting your mistake is enough."

Upon hearing this, Madam Yin's face turned green with anger. "Madam! She..."

"My sister should also pay attention to her attire, lest she embarrass the Prime Minister's residence," Madam Ding said calmly, then looked at me. "Since there's nothing else, I won't disturb you any longer."

"Farewell, Madam." I smiled, watching Madam Yin's embarrassed expression.

After seeing the guests off, Tuanzi closed the door. The two of them were silent for a while, then suddenly burst into laughter. After laughing for a while, Tuanzi and I looked at each other. She suddenly stopped laughing, snorted, turned around and lay down on the tatami to continue dozing off.

I chuckled; this little girl was indeed quite amusing.

Just as I was laughing, someone knocked on the door.

Tuanzi, who had just lain down, cursed under her breath in extreme impatience, then quickly got up, put on a smile, and went to open the door.

As soon as the door opened, Tuanzi froze, her two round eyes turning into hearts.

So, without even looking, I knew who was standing outside the door.

The fortune teller has arrived.
