Chapter 27 Not All Good Fortune Comes From Common People
As dusk fell, the western sun blazed like blood. I sat quietly in my room, clutching a nearly melted chocolate in my hand. Sigh, only one left.
"What's that?" Tuanzi rarely comes forward, staring at the chocolate in my hand with curiosity.
I looked up at her, held out my hand to her, and smiled, "Poison, do you want some?"
Tuanzi rolled her eyes at me, snatched the dumpling away, and stuffed it into her mouth.
“You…” I was dumbfounded, staring blankly as she devoured my only remaining chocolate. “Aren’t you afraid of being poisoned?” I gritted my teeth.
Looking up, Tuanzi gazed through the window at the blood-red setting sun outside, her round eyes revealing a sadness beyond her years.
"Dead, how good that would be," she said softly.
I was stunned.
“Once you're dead, you can stop caring about anything.” Turning her head, Tuanzi looked at me and spoke softly, her chubby white face casting a dim silhouette in the setting sun.
I stared at her blankly, my brows furrowed slightly.
"Is there any more?"
"Huh?" My mind was a little foggy, and I stared blankly at the face that had been so sad just a moment ago, winking at me.
"It's so delicious! Is there any more? Is there any more? I'd be willing to die from poisoning..." Tuanzi laughed loudly.
"Huh?" I remained stunned.
"Silly woman." Tuanzi scoffed, then grinned and leaned closer to me. "Weren't you moved? Weren't you?"
I snapped out of my daze, glared at her, and realized I'd almost forgotten this was her old profession!
Tuanzi laughed arrogantly.
I glanced at her sideways, but remained silent.
Tuanzi... she's an interesting child.
Thinking about having to accompany Cao Cao on an inspection of the military camp tomorrow, I couldn't help but feel a headache coming on. I had no energy left to argue with her, so I washed up and went to bed early.
I tossed and turned for a long time, but I just couldn't fall asleep.
"Xiaoxiao! Xiaoxiao!" Suddenly, a series of shouts came from outside the door. Aman rushed in and, without saying a word, dove into my bed, completely shattering the little bit of sleep I had managed to cultivate.
"Aman!" I roared, "You come out here!"
Someone hid under the covers and didn't move.
Gritting my teeth, my patience finally ran out. "Come out!"
With a slight movement, half of his head peeked out from under the covers.
I squinted and glared at him. "What are you doing here so late?"
"sleep."
Excellent, a clean, concise, and clear answer.
"This is my bed!" I pursed my lips, suppressing my raging anger.
"I want to sleep with you." Aman blinked and said innocently.
"Didn't we agree that you would sleep with your wives after we got back to the manor?" I said, feeling utterly helpless.
"I'm sick..." he began, his voice soft.
Is he sick? I was slightly taken aback and quickly reached out to touch his forehead, only to find that his face was flushed and indeed quite hot.
"How could this happen?" I frowned.
“I picked a woman who looked very kind… and slept in that woman’s room… but she was so scary…” Aman said, his brows furrowing.
"Huh?" I was completely confused.
"She...she took off my clothes..." Aman lowered his head and spoke softly, his face full of fear.
"Huh?" I was taken aback.
"Yes!" Aman said with a look of accusation, "She even touched me inappropriately!"
"Uh..." My lips twitched, and I was both amused and exasperated.
"So... I have a fever..." he said hesitantly, looking down.
Fever? What kind of logic is that?
I was stunned for a long time, then suddenly a thought flashed through my mind: that day in the cave...
"I'm hot."
"That's because you fell into the water and caught a chill, and now you have a fever."
"oh."
Is this... misleading?
If his wives find out... will they team up and kill me?
My brow twitched a few times. Seeing his flushed face, should I suggest he take a cold shower to cool down? But… hehe, I chuckled somewhat immorally. It turns out having a bunch of ravenous concubines isn't always a good thing… Having multiple wives is no blessing…
“Xiaoxiao…” he murmured softly.
"What do you want?" I said irritably.
“I…” He slowly approached me.
"Huh?" I was taken aback for a moment, then alarm bells rang. "Don't come near me! Go find your wife to put out the fire!" Just kidding, all those women had gone to great lengths to seduce him, and they finally had some success... Why should I be the one to put out the fire!
"Oh." A somewhat disappointed Aman responded, about to sit down, when his feet, wrapped in the blanket, suddenly tripped, causing him to lurch forward...
With a "thud," and a howl of pain, someone was completely on top of me, and I felt like my bones were about to fall apart...
It took her a while to recover, only to meet a pair of bright, shining eyes.
"What are you going to do?" I moved slightly, only to find myself with nowhere to retreat.
“I…” Aman licked his dry lips slightly, looking completely bewildered, “I…don’t know…”
The atmosphere gradually became a little strange...
My eyes widened as I watched those thin lips draw closer and closer... closer and closer...
Reason vanished in an instant, and the burning sensation on my lips reached my nerve endings.
This guy...
I kicked him away and glared at him angrily.
"Xiaoxiao?"
"Don't look at me with those innocent eyes! If you keep pretending to be weak, I'll kill you!" I roared through gritted teeth.
Shrinking his neck, the person licked his lips unceremoniously, looking as if he hadn't had enough.
The door creaked open, and I turned my head to see Tuanzi standing comfortably in the doorway.
"What are you doing?" I frowned at her.
"Ah, sorry, you guys continue... continue..." Tuanzi said with a grin, shrugging her hands.
Suddenly, the string in my mind snapped. A wicked thought crossed my mind, and I shoved Aman away, yelling, "Get out! Both of you! Get out!"
He slammed the door shut.
And so... the world finally became quiet.
