Chapter 36 Blood Edict

Chapter 36 Blood Edict

They asked around, but couldn't find Guo Jia.

"Get the car ready!" I yelled as I rushed out of the room.

As soon as I stepped out of the mansion gate, I saw a carriage parked in front of it. The efficiency of the Prime Minister's residence was truly remarkable. Without hesitation, I climbed in and said, "Take me to the brothel."

As I boarded the creaking carriage, I reached into the bamboo scroll in my arms. Apart from Guo Jia, I didn't know who else I could trust, and yet he wasn't here.

"What brings you to the pleasure house, young lady?" the driver, who had been silent all along, suddenly asked.

"Find Guo Jia," I said without even looking up.

"Does that kid have any connection with the brothel?" The driver's voice suddenly turned strange.

"Huh?" I looked up in suspicion. This person's voice sounded so familiar.

The driver turned around and grinned at me, revealing a set of sparkling white teeth.

I instinctively flinched. It was him! A nightmare! Just thinking about the years I was injured and ravaged by him makes my hair stand on end.

"Hua Yingxiong!" I cried out in disbelief, "How could it be you!"

"Hey! Little wolf cub!" He held the reins with his right hand, raised his left hand, and greeted me with a smile.

Three black lines appeared on my forehead. I gritted my teeth. What a vengeful, rotten doctor!

"Guo Jia is probably at home most of the time," he continued with a smile.

"At home?" I asked in surprise, then realized, "Why are you driving?!"

"I was just about to go find him when you climbed onto the car." He looked completely innocent.

I started wiping my sweat; I had thought the Prime Minister's residence was very efficient...

As we were talking, the carriage stopped. I jumped off and stared blankly at the house in front of me. It wasn't a big house, but it was quiet and elegant, and even the wind seemed to carry the sweet scent of flowers.

"Fengxiao lives here," Hua Yingxiong said with a smile, then stepped forward, pushed open the door, and barged in without any hesitation, acting as if he knew the place well.

Upon entering, one sees Xiao Mao, who is tied up in the yard, leisurely munching on grass.

So this guy is a herbivore after all... I thought it had evolved and only eats meat.

"Cough cough cough..." A clear coughing sound came from inside the room.

Hua Yingxiong frowned unconsciously and pushed the door open to go inside.

I stood by the door and saw Guo Jia leaning against the couch, wearing only a white robe, coughing incessantly, with blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.

Hua Yingxiong took a cloth from the shelf by the door, walked over, and handed it to him.

"Cough cough cough..." After coughing for a while, he finally raised his hand to take the cloth and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

Her frail body seemed as if she might be swept away by the wind at any moment.

"Pei'er, what brings you here?" He looked at me, his pale lips curving into a gentle smile.

After hesitating for a moment, I looked at Hua Yingxiong.

"Alright, I'll go brew the medicine!" Hua Yingxiong raised his hand and walked out the door with a swagger.

Guo Jia looked at me. "Is it something very important?" he asked, reaching for a teacup.

I quickly stepped forward, picked up the teacup, and handed it to him.

A smile appeared on his pale face, and he said, "It's alright, it's not that serious."

“I once happened to see a letter written in blood, and my intuition told me it was related to Cao Cao. I tried to recall it and copied it, but I can’t read. Can you take a look at what it says?” As I spoke, I took the bamboo slip out of my pocket.

Guo Jia reached out and took it, slowly unfolding it, then sighed softly, "Just as I thought."

"You already knew? What did it say?" I asked curiously as I leaned closer.

He pulled me down to sit and read to me word by word, “I have heard that of all human relationships, the father and son come first; of all social distinctions, the ruler and the subject are of utmost importance. Recently, Cao Cao has been abusing his power, oppressing the emperor and his father; he has formed cliques and corrupted the court; he has not exercised his authority over rewards and punishments. I am deeply worried day and night, fearing that the world is in peril. You are a minister of the state and a close relative of mine. You should remember the hardships Emperor Gaozu endured to establish his dynasty, gather loyal and righteous heroes, annihilate the treacherous clique, and restore peace to the nation. Our ancestors would be greatly fortunate! I have drawn blood from my finger to write this edict and entrust it to you. Please heed it carefully and do not fail my trust! Edict issued in the third month of spring, the fourth year of Jian'an.” (From *Romance of the Three Kingdoms*)

"Written by the emperor?" I was slightly taken aback. This was clearly an intention to kill Cao Cao.

“Yes, this should be an imperial edict written in blood by the Emperor to General Dong Cheng,” Guo Jia said, looking at me. “Where did you get this information from?”

"It lies with Liu Bei."

Guo Jia looked out the window and said, "Brother Mengde's poisoning incident must be related to this edict."

The blood-written edict intended for Dong Cheng ended up on Liu Bei… Heavens, how many people are plotting to take Cao Cao's head? I'm starting to regret not reading more history. The historical knowledge I have is fragmented, like Duan Yu's Six Meridian Divine Sword—it works sometimes, and doesn't work sometimes…

"Is Cao Cao in a dangerous situation?" I frowned. If Cao Cao were still that great hero who would pour wine by the river and compose poetry with his spear across his hand, I naturally wouldn't need to worry about him. But now, looking at him...

"Hey, have you finished talking? Time to take your medicine." Hua Yingxiong's voice rang out from outside the door.

As soon as he finished speaking, the door was pushed open, and he walked in carrying a bowl of medicine. A faint aroma of medicine immediately filled the room.

Guo Jia shook his head and chuckled, "So bitter."

“Drink it honestly, patient, why are you still talking so much!” With a frown, Hua Yingxiong handed over the bowl of medicine.

"Whether you drink or not, you'll die anyway, so why suffer the pain?" Guo Jia said frankly.

Hua Yingxiong slammed the medicine bowl aside. "If you don't take your medicine, no one will even know if you die one day!"

"The medicine... is very bitter," Guo Jia said softly.

Seeing him like that, I felt an indescribable sadness. I stood up, picked up the bowl of medicine, and held it to his lips. "Drink!"

He was slightly stunned, unable to come to his senses.

Seeing his pale face, I pursed my lips in annoyance and then poured the liquid down his throat.

In no time, the bowl was empty.

Guo Jia choked, then lowered his head and coughed violently again, his cheeks turning red.

I put the bowl aside, took a cloth, and bent down to wipe the medicine from his lips.

“An Ruo is very happy with Zhong Ying,” I whispered in his ear as I looked down, in a voice only he could hear.

His body froze instantly.

I knew I was right. An Ruo was that girl with the rouge cake, that Xiao Xiao...

"So, even if you want to die for love, even if you really die, you won't see her in the afterlife." I said calmly, but my words were terrifyingly cruel. (16)

Slowly, he looked up at me, his clear eyes filled with disbelief and trepidation. "You...have seen her?"

I nodded expressionlessly.

"Is she... alright?"

"Absolutely wonderful," I said casually.

"Really?" He looked at me in disbelief.

"Yes, she didn't die, she just went back to her own timeline." I don't know why I told him this, but seeing him like this made me feel a little sad.

"Hey, hey, hey, what are you talking about!" Hua Yingxiong shouted in dissatisfaction from the side, completely bewildered.

Guo Jia was completely oblivious, treating me as if I were invisible, only holding my hand tightly with one hand, "You said... she's very happy with Zhong Ying?"

"Yes, they also had a son named Mo Qianchen." Since I'd already said it, I might as well get straight to the point.

“Qianchen?” He paused slightly, then a smile spread across his pale face. “That…that’s so good…so good…she should be happy…she suffered so much…”

A hint of relief appeared on his face.

"Yes, they are all happy, so you should let yourself go too," I said softly, gently wiping the medicine stains from his lips.

I don't know what happened to the woman with the same name as me in this time and space, I don't know what she went through, I don't know what suffering she endured... But in the end, she found happiness... while this extremely wise man before me is trapped in a quagmire of pain because of her departure... 7a

"I'll try my best." He looked at me for a while and then smiled faintly.
