Chapter 6 The Three Brothers of Peach Garden

Chapter 6 The Three Brothers of Peach Garden

Second floor private seating area.

Faced with a table full of dishes, I devoured them without any regard for appearances. My dream from last night had indeed come true...

"Haha, what a generous girl!" The burly man with the dark face laughed heartily.

While I was frantically chewing with my mouth full, I glanced up at him. He was tearing off a huge piece of meat and stuffing it into his mouth, eating no more elegantly than I was.

The pale-faced man on the side was more restrained, but the most elegant eating manner belonged to the lukewarm man. His eating manner was so refined that even a lady would be ashamed.

"How did such a fine young lady end up in such a sorry state?" the burly, dark-faced man asked curiously and casually.

With my mouth full of meat, I paused for a moment, forgetting to chew, and just stared at them blankly with my mouth full of meat.

They all stopped and looked at me.

"I..." I mumbled incoherently, desperately trying to figure out what to say.

"In that case, young lady's attire is rather peculiar." The mild-mannered man looked at me and spoke slowly, his imposing manner... truly impressive.

That look in his eyes... he clearly suspected me... Waaah, he suspected me... Thinking of that letter written in blood, my heart sank. I secretly glanced at the mild-mannered man. He was saying something like, "Consider it a thank you for returning the lost item," and invited me to dinner... Sigh, gluttony caused trouble... This guy probably suspected me and came to test me...

If I can't give a clear explanation, I might get "cut off".

I started trembling. I was starving, but I didn't want to risk my life for a meal... that would be too expensive...

“I… was abandoned by my parents when I was young. The family that adopted me thought I was too stubborn… and then I was abandoned again… and then… I was sold into a brothel…” With my mouth full of meat and greasy, and my face full of sorrow, I mumbled incoherently, trying my best to fabricate a tragic backstory for myself.

"That's outrageous!" The burly man with the dark face was actually quite kind-hearted. Hearing what I said, he slammed his hand on the table, stood up, and trembled with anger, gritting his teeth. "How can there be such heartless parents in the world!"

How could there be such heartless parents in the world?

My heart skipped a beat, and I looked up at him.

"Third brother, you've frightened the girl." The mild-mannered man spoke slowly, his face still as calm as ever.

His palm strike was incredibly powerful; it not only frightened me... it terrified all the customers in the restaurant...

I turned my head and saw a group of customers at the next table looking terrified, trembling and cowering as they retreated from the scene, fearing they might be caught in the crossfire... The bartender standing at the door seeing them off dared not speak out in anger.

"And then? You escaped from the brothel, young lady?" The burly, dark-faced man sat down, took a big gulp of wine, and looked at me earnestly.

"I was kicked out..." I slowly swallowed the meat in my mouth and spoke slowly.

"Pfft..." The lukewarm man and the pale-faced man suddenly spat out the wine in their mouths.

Hehe, I felt smug. One of them was cold-faced and the other was mild-mannered. I thought they had facial nerve paralysis, but it turns out they can have other expressions too.

"Why?" The burly, dark-faced man remained remarkably calm. "Does the young lady possess some ingenious method?"

I wiped my mouth and smeared oil on my hands. "Not at all. Since I came here, the brothel's business has plummeted. Naturally, they can't keep a plague like me." Seeing their strange looks, I finally burst into laughter. "Hahaha, haven't you heard? I'm tough! I'm made of iron! Hahaha..." As I spoke, I raised my arms, pretending to be a strongman. "Don't let my thin appearance fool you. Yesterday I was half-dead from a fall and received sixty lashes, but I'm still jumping around today!" After eating and drinking my fill, I was full of energy and became more talkative.

"Ah? You're the one who called Cao Cao by his name on the street yesterday and got sixty lashes!" the burly, dark-faced man shouted, sounding quite pleased. "You have guts, young lady!"

I chuckled awkwardly. "You've become famous so quickly?"

"These days, girls are all so shy and hesitant. It's rare to meet someone as straightforward and easygoing as you!"

Ever since that dark-faced giant became increasingly familiar with me after hearing that I had called Cao Cao by his given name and was beaten with sixty strokes of the cane, I couldn't help but start to wonder... did this guy have a grudge against Cao Cao?

"This is a good friend! My surname is Zhang, my given name is Fei, and my courtesy name is Yide," the burly man with the dark face introduced himself, not satisfied with that. He pointed to the mild-mannered man next to him and said, "This is my eldest brother Liu Bei." Then he pointed to the pale-faced man and said, "That is my second brother Guan Yu!"

After these words, there was a long silence at the table. The mild-mannered man pursed his lips and glanced sideways at the dark-faced giant, thinking that Zhang Fei had been too outspoken and had revealed his secrets first...

They came to probe my abilities, but what's this called again? Trying to steal a chicken but losing the rice instead…

Wait! Guan Yu? (9f)

I stared wide-eyed at the pale-faced man opposite me with an icy expression. "Guan... Guan Yu?! Guan Yunchang? Lord Guan?" I exclaimed, my face full of surprise.

Oh... so they're actually the Three Brothers of Peach Garden... (Sigh... that's a really weird way to address them...)

Even though my history is exceptionally bad, Guan Yu's name is truly legendary! I've watched too many gangster movies; every time those gangster bosses swear an oath, it's to a statue of Guan Yu! Loyalty! This guy is absolutely the epitome of loyalty!

I shouted, stood up, ran to Guan Yu's side, and carefully examined him from head to toe, left to right, top to bottom, inside and out...

His eyes were phoenix eyes, and his eyebrows were silkworm eyebrows; he truly had a dignified and imposing appearance...

Oh no, those silkworm-shaped eyebrows are furrowing! (Young Master: Nonsense, if you were being admired by a drooling, stinky-faced, infatuated woman, would you find it incredibly satisfying?)

"Huh? Does the young lady know my second brother?" Zhang Fei asked in surprise.

"Mmm." I nodded, my face full of infatuation at seeing my idol.

"How is my second brother?" Zhang Fei asked curiously.

"Heroic and invincible, with righteousness as the top priority!" I said as soon as I opened my mouth.

Guan Yu was slightly taken aback, and finally looked at me properly.

I laughed. They're finally looking at me properly, aren't they? Hehe, see? Even Guan Yu, who was later revered as the "Martial Saint," loves to hear nice things.

"Does that girl know Zhang Fei?" With bright eyes, Zhang Fei grabbed me, his face full of anticipation.

I looked up at him. Given my current appearance and the unpleasant smell I was covered in, it took real courage for him to grab me with one hand.

Seeing him staring at me so expectantly, I couldn't help but swallow hard. "Uh... incredibly strong, the bravest in the army..."

Zhang Fei's face flushed red as he nodded repeatedly. He then grabbed my hand again, pointed at Liu Bei, and asked, "Where is my elder brother? How is he?"

I grinned foolishly at the enigmatic, lukewarm man, my mouth practically twitching from the wide grin... That guy was a real handful...

"A refined general is broad-minded and tolerant..." I spoke cautiously, choosing words that were not offensive.

She has the magnanimity to forgive... Sir, please spare this young lady...

"May I ask your name, young lady?" Liu Bei remained unmoved, speaking slowly as he looked at me with a half-smile.

Sigh, that look in their eyes was truly chilling; it sent a shiver down my spine…

"It's only polite to reciprocate. Young lady, are you unwilling to tell me your name?" he spoke again, his voice calm and even, yet my heart trembled with fear. I knew it; his unspoken message was: Tell me your name if you want to live!

"Pei Xiao!" I said, almost standing at attention and saluting, and quickly told her her name.

Seeing their strange expressions, I knew they were thinking the wrong thing again... thinking the wrong thing again...

"Smile and be obsequious?" Zhang Fei shouted, then glanced at the ground floor with a strange look.

I followed his gaze downstairs, and the view of the street across from the restaurant was quite nice...

Directly opposite the restaurant, there is a house with a plaque hanging above it bearing three large characters, the calligraphy of which even seems to contain a gentleness and charm.

Several women with bare shoulders leaned against the door, their faces full of alluring smiles.

Although I couldn't understand the words, I still figured out what place it was without any instruction...

My lips twitched slightly; I knew it...they'd gotten the wrong idea...

I pressed my forehead helplessly. I had no way to explain, so I simply gave up and let them speculate.

"Backdraft! Backdraft!" A panicked shout interrupted my self-pity.

Returning Wind? That name sounds familiar.

Huifeng? Isn't that Gou'er's mother's name?

I instinctively stood up and walked to the window. On the north side of the gate of that mansion, a ragged man was being beaten terribly.

"Backwind! Backwind..." Despite being beaten terribly, the man kept shouting.

That man... was that old beggar, Dog's father!

"Miss Pei," Liu Bei said, taking out a small purse and placing it on the table. "It is fate that we met today. Consider this a token of my gratitude for returning your lost item."

I paused for a moment, turned around, glanced at the little purse, and chuckled to myself. Money... money... so cute...

“Miss Pei, please accept these as a token of my gratitude for returning the lost items…” Liu Bei looked at me gently and spoke again.

I was still staring at that money bag, grinning foolishly.

“Miss Pei, these…” Liu Bei spoke again.

Gritting my teeth, I smiled and looked at the sullen man. "You kindly took pity on this little beggar who has no clothes or food, and this little beggar will naturally be grateful and repay your kindness... In my next life, I will be your ox or horse to repay your great favor..."

We'll talk about the next life then... This guy just wants to shut me up with money! The subtext is: take the money and shut your mouth. If you bring up the blood letter again, I'll twist your head off!

"Very good." Nodding, Liu Bei got up and left.

Zhang Fei clasped his hands in a fist salute, said "Until we meet again," and then left with Guan Yu.

"Oh, right..." Just as I was drooling over that small money pouch, Liu Bei suddenly turned around again.

I quickly wiped away the drool and pretended to listen attentively.

He stared at me calmly for a long while before speaking hesitantly, "Buy some clothes, wash them, and change." With that, he turned and left.

I was left standing there dumbfounded. After a while, I raised my arm, sniffed it, and then pretended to vomit.

It's really kind of them to sit at the same table with me... They certainly have a magnanimous heart... They're destined for great things...
