Chapter 63 Miscalculation
Cao Cao stood there looking at me, his expression somewhat cold.
"Anyone who dares to say a bad word about you, I'll cut out their tongue." He looked around and, seeing that all the generals had tacitly kept quiet, he turned back to me with satisfaction.
"How can the Prime Minister silence all the voices of the people?" I raised an eyebrow slightly, my lips twitching.
Cao Cao pursed his lips and remained silent, staring at me for a long time.
I lowered my head slightly, feigning nonchalance, as if the air around me had frozen.
"You are my newlywed wife, who dares to say that?" After a long while, Cao Cao spoke slowly and calmly.
"Go to hell with your new wife! You dare to marry another wife from a whole bunch of wives? Do you even know what you're capable of?!" I immediately went berserk, forgetting to play the victim and act weak, and jumped up, baring my teeth and brandishing my claws.
When I looked up, I saw Cao Cao looking at me with a half-smile, a mocking expression on his face. Only then did I realize that I had fallen into his trap again.
Gritting my teeth, I snapped again, "Hey! I'm the victim here! I didn't even have the nerve to demand you take responsibility. I just let you have your way and then left. What are you unhappy about? I'm the one who lost more this time!"
A collective gasp filled the air. I turned and glared at the onlookers whose eyes were practically popping out of their sockets; my bold reaction had probably startled them.
I glanced around and met a pair of clear eyes. With the reaction of seeing a long-lost relative, I exaggeratedly ran forward and grabbed Guo Jia's sleeve, "Wow... Half-Immortal..."
Guo Jia looked at me with a mixture of amusement and exasperation, as I clung tightly to his sleeve and wouldn't let go.
Cao Cao's face darkened slightly. He strode forward and tried to pull me back into his arms.
Having finally found a lifeline, I was determined not to let go, so I transformed into a koala and clung tightly to the eucalyptus tree that had saved my life.
"Get down." The voice behind me was icy.
I shook my head, my face saying, "I'm a rogue, who am I afraid of?"
I felt a slight tightening around my waist as an arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me down from my eucalyptus tree.
“Prime Minister…” Eucalyptus Tree said helplessly, seeing me still stubbornly tugging at his blue robe.
Uh, it's Guo Jia.
"Half-Immortal... Half-Immortal... You can't just stand by and watch me die..." I wailed as Cao Cao held me in his arms. With a "hiss," I tore the Half-Immortal's sleeve.
His pale arms were exposed to the air, their whiteness unhealthy. Guo Jia, his clothes disheveled, stood there with a helpless smile. "Prime Minister, let's go back to camp first. Last night's surprise attack led to Liu Bei's defection to Yuan Shao, leaving Guan Yu to guard the city, but he has now been captured alive."
I was stunned for a moment, then stopped struggling. Guan Yu had been captured alive?
Cao Cao nodded, then scooped me up in his arms and leaped onto his horse. Before I could even react, he spurred the horse hard on its belly.
The horse suddenly shot off, leaving me screaming all the way.
"Put me down!" I yelled all the way, but the person behind me didn't budge an inch. I glared at them, feeling frustrated, and decided not to waste any more energy.
Cao Cao's camp was stationed on a long slope. He reined in his horse and jumped off first, then reached out to help me down.
I turned my head away and ignored him, trying to dismount myself, only to find that my legs were sore and painful that I couldn't get off at all. I glared at his knowing and mocking expression, gritted my teeth and jumped off the horse. My foot slipped, and I gasped in pain, my face turning pale.
Cao Cao's expression changed slightly, and he raised his hand to help me up.
"Don't touch my sister!" Gou'er's voice rang out unexpectedly, and a small figure rushed out of the tent entrance.
I looked up. "Doggy?" I was about to speak when the pain in my left leg made my face contort.
"Sister, what's wrong?" Gou'er's face looked even paler than mine, and he looked at me blankly.
A pair of large hands landed on my shoulders. I was stunned for a moment and turned my head.
Uh, Hua Yingxiong?
"I'm a military doctor accompanying the army," Hua Yingxiong shrugged, clearing up my doubts.
"Let go of my sister!" Gou'er glared at Hua Yingxiong with malice.
Hua Yingxiong released his grip, crossed his arms, and laughed coolly, "Are you sure? Your sister is in a lot of pain right now."
His murderous gaze swept straight at Hua Yingxiong. I glared at him, baring my teeth. Of course it hurt! It hurt like hell!
Cao Cao's expression was rather grim. "What exactly happened to her?"
Hua Yingxiong immediately replied with a fawning smile, "Your Excellency, it's nothing serious, just a cramp."
"A cramp?" Cao Cao looked puzzled.
"No problem, no problem." Hua Yingxiong bent down, took one hand in my calf, and gently massaged and kneaded it.
As the pain gradually subsided, I looked down with great interest at Hua Yingxiong's crouching figure.
Cramps? Isn't it a bit strange that he would use that word?
"Alright, a rest will make you completely fine." After a while, Hua Yingxiong stood up and reported to Cao Cao with a respectful expression.
I raised an eyebrow slightly and looked at Hua Yingxiong. "Dr. Hua is very skilled. He can even tell when someone is having a cramp."
Hua Yingxiong grinned foolishly at me, "You flatter me, Madam."
That "madam" kept stepping on my sore spot. I glared at him fiercely. This Hua Yingxiong is always strange. Judging from his appearance, he's clearly another time traveler with that unlucky look on his face! I'll expose him!
"Prime Minister, this boy ran into the camp early this morning, saying he wanted to find his sister, but no one paid him any attention. He's been squatting outside the tent all morning waiting for him." Xiahou walked over from a distance and pointed at Gou'er.
I looked up in surprise at the dog. He hadn’t slept all night and had really come after me.
The dog stared at the bright purple robe I was wearing, its beautiful eyes red as if they were about to bleed.
This child...fe
Judging from his expression, he clearly understood that I was no longer a virgin.
"I'm sorry..." Dog squeezed out three words through gritted teeth.
I looked at him in surprise. "I'm sorry?"
"I'm sorry... I didn't protect my sister well..." He bit his lip, clenched his fists tightly, and tears rolled down his cheeks.
"It's not your fault, it's okay, I'm fine," I quickly smiled and wiped away his tears with my sleeve. "Good boy, I'm alright."
"He told me to find you at Changpo, three miles away. I... how could I be so stupid... actually believe him... and wait here like an idiot..." Gou'er glared at Cao Cao resentfully.
"Don't cry, Gou'er's all grown up now. A man doesn't easily shed tears, he bleeds but doesn't cry," I patted his face and laughed.
The dog stared at me blankly, then nodded heavily, "Yes!" He raised his hand to wipe away the tears on his face, and sure enough, not a single tear fell.
I chuckled and patted his head.
“You need to rest,” Cao Cao said slowly, looking at me.
I gritted my teeth, "I need to leave!"
"Trust me, don't leave. It's better for everyone." Cao Cao pursed his lips slightly, seemingly displeased.
I was about to retort when I glanced at the dog, his intention clear: he was threatening me, using the dog's safety to threaten me.
"You're so smart, I knew I needed a rest." I took a breath and said through gritted teeth with a smile.
Cao Cao smiled, but the smile remained coldly on his lips, not reaching the depths of his eyes.
