Chapter 65 Buddhist Worship
A white mist enveloped me, with the gentle murmur of a spring. There was not a breath of wind, only tranquility and peace. Dressed in fiery red, I walked barefoot on a stream, the clear water flowing between my toes, a sensation that felt indescribably comfortable.
Slowly swimming upstream, the white mist dissipated, and suddenly the view opened up before me. A figure in bright purple stood in the sunlight. The sunlight was dazzling, and I slightly raised my hand to shield my eyes from the sun, but I still couldn't see his face clearly. Yet, I felt a deep sense of familiarity, as if we had known each other for thousands of years, as if the seas had dried up and the rocks had crumbled, as if the world had changed beyond recognition...
"The mortal world," he spoke, his voice distant, as if separated by countless mountains and rivers, even though he was right in front of him.
The mortal world? Who is it?
I frowned slightly. Was he calling me?
"Life is like walking through thorns. If the heart is still, the body will not act rashly, and thus will not be harmed; but if the heart is agitated, the body will act rashly, injuring itself and causing pain to its bones, and thus experiencing all kinds of suffering in the world..."
The bright purple figure grew farther and farther away, until suddenly a kind and gentle voice rang in my ears.
"If the mind is still, the person will not act rashly, and without action, there will be no harm; but if the mind is agitated, the person will act rashly, injuring their body and causing pain to their bones, and thus experiencing all kinds of suffering in the world..."
The sound repeated itself again and again, and chanting filled the air, solemn and profound, over and over again...
Suddenly, the world spun around.
"If the heart is still... it will not be harmed... but if the heart is moved... it will injure the body and cause pain to the bones..."
I seemed to see a great Buddha, solemn and dignified, with countless monks striking wooden fish and chanting in verse.
"If you don't move, you won't get hurt..."
The world spun around me, and my heart began to ache—a sharp, intense pain, as if my heart had been ripped out!
I opened my mouth, but no sound came out; I wanted to cry, but no tears would fall; I reached out, but there was nothing around me… I felt as if I were surrounded by a vacuum, and that bright purple figure was getting farther and farther away from me…
"Ah..." I screamed, clutching my head.
The sudden scream startled me, and I opened my eyes abruptly to see the camp.
And I am lying in bed.
Cao Cao is no longer by my side. Yesterday, in my drowsy state, I felt someone holding me as I fell asleep, but I don't know when he left.
Lying there in a daze, I was still a little dazed. The dream I had just had was too real, and the pain was too vivid.
I slowly raised my hand and placed it on the spot where my heart was, feeling its chaotic beating.
Who is that man?
Who is it in this mortal world?
"Sister, what's wrong! Sister!" Gou'er's voice rang out from outside the tent. "Damn it, let me in! Sister... Sister, what's wrong with you!"
I quickly snapped out of my daze, jumped out of bed, and hurried to the door, where I saw Gou'er standing anxiously outside the tent, hopping around.
"Sister?" Upon seeing me, the dog quieted down, glared fiercely at the guard at the gate, and strode towards me. "I heard your voice, sister. What's wrong?"
I grinned and said, "I had a nightmare."
"Was it a terrible nightmare?" Dog asked, still shaken.
"Yes, it was a terrible dream."
I laughed. Looking at his expression, I wondered if I had screamed that miserably.
"What you think about during the day, you dream about at night; if you do nothing wrong in the daytime, you won't be afraid of ghosts knocking at your door in the middle of the night." A cool voice rang out.
Without turning around, I knew it must be that hero Hua.
“You can reveal a little more of your true identity so I can find out who you really are.” I turned to look at him and shrugged.
Hua Yingxiong remained silent as expected.
My suspicions were increasingly confirmed.
"Where's Cao Cao? I haven't seen him since early this morning," I said, looking around.
“Yesterday, the Prime Minister sent more than a dozen surrendered soldiers to Xiapi to join Guan Yu. They haven’t returned yet, so Guan Yu must not suspect them and has kept them for his own use.” Hua Yingxiong obviously did not understand the saying that too much talk leads to mistakes, and added, “The Prime Minister is busy deploying troops right now and has no time to deal with you.”
I glanced at him sideways, and he shrugged without saying a word.
With a slight lift of my hand, something fell out of my sleeve. Without looking at it, I turned around, intending to return to camp.
"Hey, you dropped your Swiss Army knife," Hua Yingxiong reminded him from behind.
A mischievous smile played on my lips as I turned around, took the knife from Hua Yingxiong's hand, looked at Gou'er, and brandished the knife. "Gou'er, do you know what this is?"
The dog stared at it for a long time and concluded, "What a strange knife."
Hua Yingxiong's face paled slightly, realizing he had spoken out of turn.
I grinned and leaned closer to him. "Soul transfer? Body and soul transfer together?"
Hua Yingxiong's smile was somewhat forced. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"I got hit by a car, my body and soul came together, what about you?" I continued with a smile.
Hua Yingxiong took a slight step back, his smile freezing on his face.
"Don't be so formal. Meeting an old friend in a foreign land is one of the greatest joys in life, especially after being separated by a thousand years. What a coincidence!" I grabbed his arm, my face full of the feeling that "we're old friends."
Hua Yingxiong recoiled as if he had been burned.
"What's wrong?" I looked at him in confusion. Why was he reacting so strongly?
"I don't understand what you're talking about, Madam." Hua Yingxiong rolled up his sleeves and turned to leave.
I chuckled and held him back, determined not to let him have his way. "We're all in the same boat, how can you be so heartless?"
Hua Yingxiong froze slightly, then grabbed me and pulled me away from the patrolling guards.
"Sister?" Gou'er hurried forward.
"It's okay, I'll talk to him alone." I raised my hand and rubbed my nose, grinning like a rascal.
