Chapter 73 A Bolt from the Blue (Part 1)

Chapter 73 A Bolt from the Blue (Part 1)

I vomited for a long time, and my mouth was full of bitterness.

A pair of large hands pulled me into their arms, and they took the handkerchief handed to them by a maid and wiped the filth from my mouth.

"What's wrong? Did you eat something unclean?" He looked down at me.

I hummed weakly, "Probably."

"Remember to try it next time." Cao Cao turned to look at the maid beside him.

The maids all nodded obsequiously, their faces filled with terror.

"If you're not feeling well, then calm down and stop causing trouble." Cao Cao smiled, his eyes narrowed, as he looked at me.

I rolled my eyes at him. All my elaborate escape attempts were just "making a scene" in his eyes? That's so hurtful...

However, I chuckled to myself. Fortunately, I, Pei Xiao, am not someone to be trifled with. They would be sorely mistaken for an easy target. I've laid enough smokescreens; it's time for the main course to be served.

The dog's movements were unrestricted, and it had already left early in the morning with plenty of valuables.

"Sister, remember the trick: riding a horse isn't difficult. Don't be nervous, it's not hard."

"Sister, I'll be waiting for you at the city gate of Xiapi. Please be careful."

"Sister, will you come?"

"elder sister……"

Before leaving, the dog asked again and again, still worried, until I made a promise and swore that he would leave first.

Around noon, Cao Cao ordered the army to halt and prepare lunch. I took the opportunity to excuse myself from feeling unwell and sat alone in the carriage.

Relying on my photographic memory, I failed to escape three times in a row and basically figured out the defenses in various places. I was very annoyed to discover that the reason why Cao Cao was always able to catch me in the first place was because there were eyes everywhere around me and people were watching me everywhere.

Escaping from the Prime Minister's residence was due to his momentary carelessness; the difficulty of escaping from him a second time is self-evident.

The only thing Cao Cao wasn't prepared for was horses. Since I can't ride a horse, he specifically ordered a carriage to be prepared, and this would be my only means of escaping him.

"Madam, lunch is ready. Would you like to eat in the carriage?" a maid asked softly from below the carriage.

I lifted the curtain and saw that each dish had been touched, clearly having been sampled.

I shook my head. "I have no appetite."

"What's wrong?" Cao Cao approached unnoticed and, seeing the maid looking at me with a helpless expression, asked, "Why aren't you eating?"

I looked down. "It's too stuffy in the carriage."

"Want to ride a horse?" Cao Cao raised an eyebrow slightly.

I was startled. Was this guy some kind of tapeworm? How did he know everything? I forced a smile and nodded timidly, then shook my head. "But I don't know how."

Cao Cao laughed, "I really can't do anything with you. Let me take you for a ride."

Seeing his smile, I was slightly taken aback; his tone was full of doting affection.

With one hand holding the horse's reins and the other holding my hand, Cao Cao helped me mount the horse.

Holding the reins, I remembered the method the dog had taught me. Before Cao Cao could mount his horse, I gave it a sharp squeeze. Hehe, riding a horse doesn't seem so difficult after all.

"Wow, wow, I can ride a horse too!" I shouted at Cao Cao on purpose, looking smug, while secretly aiming for the right moment to rush out and catch him off guard.

Turning his head, he saw that Cao Cao's expression had changed. "Get down quickly!"

Seeing his unusually tense expression, I chuckled to myself, pulled on the reins, and spun around in place, preparing to rush off.

Everything went smoothly. Cao Cao seemed to be startled by me and didn't react for a moment. It was as if even the heavens were on my side. But suddenly, I felt dizzy and my stomach churned.

Suddenly, I lost all strength in my hands and fell straight down.

The world seemed to be spinning, and all I could hear was Cao Cao's roar.

In a daze, I landed safely in someone's arms, and what came into view was Cao Cao's slightly panicked expression.

"A military doctor!"

His last conscious thought was Cao Cao's roar.

When I opened my eyes again, I was already in the carriage, and Hua Yingxiong was the only one in the carriage.

"What are you doing here?" I looked at him in confusion, then sighed in frustration. What a great opportunity! But my body just wouldn't cooperate; otherwise, I would have run away long ago.
