Chapter 84 Steamed Buns (Part 2)
I lay on his back, whimpering all the way, unable to muster any strength.
I felt him walking faster and faster, his steps becoming more and more hurried, but I remained steady on his back without any bumps.
"Xiaoxiao, does your leg hurt?" His voice was soft, with a slight wheezing.
"It hurts! It hurts so much!" I groaned, wincing in pain. (Author's note: At this moment, you should be saying shyly, "It doesn't hurt at all! Don't you understand the atmosphere?!")
"It's good that it hurts."
"What?" I roared, and with a "gnash," I bit his shoulder. I'll teach you to gloat! I'll teach you to gloat!
"Hehe," he chuckled softly, "Not bad, you seem to be in good spirits."
I ground my teeth until I could taste the metallic taste of blood in my mouth, but he didn't even flinch.
"Sister!" A low growl suddenly sounded in his ear, the two words seemingly squeezed out of his throat, carrying inexplicable fear and pain.
I let go, tilted my head slightly, and smiled, "Doggy... uh, no," I shook my head, and smiled again, "Zhao'er."
"How could this happen!" Zhao'er stepped forward, her beautiful eyes filled with a ruthlessness that shouldn't belong to someone her age. I couldn't help but tremble slightly as I looked at her.
"Zhao'er..."
"Quickly, find a doctor!" Kongming's voice finally showed a slight change in tone.
In a daze, I felt myself being carried to bed. Someone hurriedly bandaged my wounds and then took my hand, seemingly taking my pulse.
Zhao'er held my hand tightly the whole time, and I could feel him trembling.
"Doctor, how is she? Her left leg injury..." Kongming's voice carried a slight hint of urgency.
"Although the wound is deep, fortunately it did not break any bones."
"Sister looks really bad!" Zhao'er's voice was a little sharp.
"Yes, it's mainly due to miscarriage and excessive bleeding," the doctor said patiently.
"Fetal distress?" Zhao'er's voice carried a hint of doubt, then fell silent.
"Sir, don't you know that Madam is pregnant?"
"Hehe, of course I know." It was Kongming who answered.
Slightly startled, I opened my eyes with some difficulty and looked into Kongming's calm and unperturbed eyes.
"Although the pregnancy was affected, it's not a big problem. As long as you take good care of yourself, there won't be any issues," the doctor said cheerfully.
"Thank you." Kongming politely saw the doctor out.
“Sister…” Zhao’er stood at the head of the bed, biting her lip as she looked at me.
"What's wrong?" I reached out slightly.
He hesitated for a long time before finally stepping forward and taking my hand.
"Wait a little longer... I'll grow up soon... When I grow up, I can protect my sister..." He held my slightly cold hand and buried his head in the blankets.
“I’m fine, I’ve never been better,” I said with a smile, gently stroking his head. “Really.”
Zhao'er looked up at me, and there were tears in her eyes.
"I'll let you in on a little secret, I just gave him a name." I pointed to my belly, grinned, and whispered.
"What's your name?" Sure enough, Zhao'er's eyes widened as she looked at me curiously.
"Steamed buns." I said smugly.
Zhao'er paused for a moment, then burst out laughing, before quickly pursing her lips in a serious manner, her cheeks flushed red, looking like she wanted to laugh but dared not.
"Is it funny?" I raised my lips and gave him a dangerous sidelong glance.
Zhao'er shook her head vigorously, like a rattle-drum.
I looked at him suspiciously.
"Hmm, it sounds very nice, and it sounds very scholarly." Zhao'er nodded seriously, "Sister, the name you chose is indeed good."
I was speechless. This sounded so weird… (Young man: At least you know your place.)
Throughout the entire ordeal, Zhao'er held my hand but didn't glance at my stomach once. I felt that he didn't like my baby bump...
But it's alright, there will be plenty of time for Zhao'er and Baozi to get along well later...
In a daze, I finally fell into a deep sleep again.
I spent half a month in bed recuperating, unable to move. As a result, Zhao'er's studies suffered considerably. Finally, the wound on my leg began to heal and scab over. Under my insistence, intimidation, and pressure, Zhao'er had no choice but to reluctantly agree to go to class.
A person was lying in bed, bored out of their mind, and started flipping through "Records of the Three Kingdoms".
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door outside the courtyard.
I was startled and instinctively hid the book.
Is the gentleman in?
Just as I was about to speak, the person who came in pushed the door open and entered.
"Sir, thank you for the kitchen knife you gave me last time, it works very well..." A middle-aged woman walked into the yard and pushed open the door. "I made some chicken soup, I brought some over for you..."
As soon as I heard her enter the courtyard, I quickly got up and got out of bed. Just as I was lifting the blanket, she walked in. When she saw me, her eyes widened like saucers.
"Who are you?" she asked, looking at me with considerable fright.
A gust of wind blew in from outside, bringing the aroma of chicken soup. I frowned, my stomach churned, and I turned my head to gag.
After finally calming down, I turned to look at her, only to see her staring at my stomach as if she'd seen a ghost.
Following her gaze, I looked at my own abdomen, which was slightly protruding because I was only wearing a single layer of clothing.
