Chapter 55 "Let's give it a try".

Chapter 55 "Let's give it a try".

It's common knowledge in the industry that Wen Lingshuang loves to drink. At the banquet, many people came to toast her and say auspicious words, but Wen Lingshuang declined, saying that she couldn't hold her liquor and couldn't drink too much. The main reason was that she hadn't finished toasting some elders and important figures. Actually, there weren't many, just a few tables. Jiang An led her to toast them one by one, and Jiang An drank most of the wine.

Wen Lingshuang watched him chug down glass after glass, feeling a chill run down her spine. She leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Drink less."

Jiang An can drink less.

He can even wait for others to offer him a toast without actually offering one.

But I'm so happy today.

He hadn't been this happy in a very long time. He held Wen Lingshuang's soft little hand tightly with his own and whispered, "Let's drink more today."

After toasting everyone and returning to the main table, most of the dishes had already been served. These dishes were carefully chosen, taking into account the guests' tastes, preferences, and dietary restrictions. Therefore, the guest list for each table was fixed, which allowed them to accurately serve the dishes that the guests liked. For example, half of the dishes on the main table were Wen Lingshuang's favorites: seafood flown in from the air and fresh vegetables and fruits from their own farm.

After the two were seated, Jiang An took a few fresh shrimp, peeled them, and put them in Wen Lingshuang's bowl.

Seeing this, Tan Yu and Wen Jinye, who were sitting next to her, couldn't help but tease: "Jiang An, when Ling Shuang was at home, every time she ate shrimp, the maid had to peel ten shrimp and put them in her bowl before she would eat them. Now you peel one shrimp and she'll eat one."

Hearing her mother's words, Wen Lingshuang said softly and coquettishly, "Mom, I didn't."

Jiang An raised an eyebrow and said, "Eat ten in one go?"

That was Wen Lingshuang's very minor quirk.

She loves the chewy texture of shrimp, especially the feeling of having lots of shrimp in her mouth, which makes her feel that eating is a happy thing.

It was just that such a small matter was being brought up in front of the Jiang family, and she felt a little embarrassed. She gave Jiang An a coquettish glare and said, "What's wrong with eating ten?"

Jiang An chuckled lightly, "It's nothing."

The music was loud, and the tables were large, so even people sitting at the same table could hardly hear what the people opposite them were saying. They could only see the people chatting and laughing intimately, looking happy and warm. Jiang Hanyu stood up, holding a wine glass, and said, "Today is a big day for our two families in Wenjiang. Come, let's raise our glasses to celebrate."

Under the warm yellow light, a dozen or so wine glasses gently clinked together, producing a crisp sound.

Wen Lingshuang turned to look at Jiang An, feeling an indescribable warmth in her heart.

She used to think that arranged marriages were essentially no different from commodity exchanges, and even when she first learned that her arranged marriage partner was Jiang An, she felt like the sky was falling.

Now……

She felt the sky could fall even lower.

Anyway, Jiang An will take the blame.

As the banquet was drawing to a close, Jiang An got up and whispered something in Jiang Hanyu's ear. It was unclear what they said, but Jiang Hanyu waved his hand, probably agreeing with what he said. He got up and walked back to his seat under the table. Looking at the sleepy Wen Lingshuang, he gently put his arm around her slender waist and said, "Let's go first. Let Mom and Dad take care of the rest."

There was a whole bunch of relatives and friends nearby who wanted to drag Wen Lingshuang to play golf and cards.

Wen Lingshuang thought that today was a joyous occasion, and many relatives and friends would be gathered together, so she did not refuse. In fact, she was extremely sleepy, and she could barely keep her eyelids open after getting up so early in the morning.

She shook her head: "Isn't that a bad idea?"

"It's alright." He pinched her slender waist. "You're allowed to throw a tantrum and act like a spoiled princess now."

Wen Lingshuang's heart trembled, and she snorted softly, "Stop making fun of me, I'm not that willful."

Jiang An leaned close to her ear and said, "I want you to be willful, is that okay?"

Wen Lingshuang: "..."

Older men really know how to flirt.

Wen Lingshuang bit her red lips, no longer resisting, buried her head in his chest, and said coquettishly, "Then carry me away, I'm tired."

Jiang An chuckled softly, put his arm around her waist, and with one hand, she floated lightly onto him, as if she were walking, but in reality, all the weight was on Jiang An. To avoid contact with relatives and friends, Jiang An went directly through the back door. When he arrived at the parking lot, Lon was already waiting.

Today, Lon specially changed into a formal suit, with a large red flower pinned to his chest, symbolizing a happy occasion.

Seeing the two of them get out, Lon opened the car door.

They acted swiftly and decisively, getting into the car and immediately driving to Xihong Villa.

Wen Lingshuang couldn't take it anymore and fell into Jiang An's arms as soon as she got in the car, falling into a deep sleep.

Jiang An looked down at her delicate and beautiful profile, a rare tenderness appearing in his eyes.

Looking at Jiang An's expression in the rearview mirror, Lon couldn't help but sigh at how fast time flies. Back when he first joined Xining Group, Jiang An was just an unknown junior employee, and any team leader could easily reprimand him. At that time, he had nothing. Today, this wedding was grand, with top international media vying to report on it. Even those who received invitations to the wedding considered it an honor. Not to mention domestically, several major conglomerates sent gifts worth no less than eight figures in order to seek cooperation.

Among them, several limited edition cars and houses that Wen Lingshuang liked the most were given away as free gifts.

After hardship comes happiness.

Lon thought to himself, "The hard times of the past are over, and the good times are just around the corner."

Wen Lingshuang quietly slept in Jiang An's arms. She dreamed again of the tea garden from her childhood, of the group of children, especially the dark-skinned little boy who always followed her. What was his name? Wen Lingshuang tried hard to remember, but couldn't. She ran through the endless tea garden, and suddenly fell down.

"Don't cry."

The little boy emerged from under the tea tree, his unusually clear eyes shining through his black and white pupils. "Blow on it and it won't hurt anymore."

"I want you to carry me back!" she commanded in her childish voice. "If you don't carry me back, I'll tell my grandpa not to feed you!"

The little boy stood in front of her, bent down with his back to her, and said, "Get on."

Under a clear blue sky and amidst towering mountains stretching for miles, a little boy carries a beautifully sculpted little girl on his back as they struggle down the mountain.

The road is very long, but it doesn't feel far. It seems like it would be nice to keep walking like this forever.

Wen Lingshuang turned over and snuggled into Wen Nuan's arms. Smelling the faint aroma of tea, she slowly opened her eyes, only to find that there was no one beside her. She touched the side of her and found it was indeed empty. She thought that snuggling into Wen Nuan's arms was just the warmth of the bed. She looked up at the clock on the wall and saw that it was about four o'clock in the morning.

So you mean she's been sleeping since the afternoon?

Where did Jiang An go?

She threw back the covers and got out of bed, only to find that she had changed into a bright red slip dress, and even the bed was red from head to toe.

I haven't been to Xihong's villa since it was renovated.

This was also her first time sleeping in a new house, and she was not yet familiar with everything around her.

Pushing open the door reveals a wide and long corridor, decorated in her favorite Southeast Asian style.

As I walked down the stairs, I heard the sound of boiling water.

Upon reaching the first floor, one sees Jiang An dressed in casual clothes, sitting in the tea room on the right, drinking tea, holding something in his hand and looking down at it.

She quietly walked up behind him, wrapped her arms around his neck from behind, and pretended to be angry, "Fine, Jiang An, what are you doing hiding here all alone on our wedding night? Don't you want to sleep in the same bed with me?"

After he finished speaking, he saw that Jiang An was holding an old-fashioned pocket watch, and inside the pocket watch was the oil painting that he had seen hanging on the wall when he went to her house.

Wen Lingshuang at the age of eighteen.

Jiang An put the pocket watch away, wrapped his arms around her slender waist, and pulled her into his embrace.

With a little effort, she sat steadily on his lap.

She let out a soft "ah," and was then sexually assaulted by Jiang An.

He kissed her, very lightly.

Wen Lingshuang covered her mouth, revealing her beautiful eyes, and said in a muffled voice, "You're not allowed to kiss me."

Jiang An held her between the table and his arms, his dark eyes looking at her, and said, "Why did you wake up so early?"

Wen Lingshuang didn't answer, but asked instead, "What about you? Why aren't you asleep?"

She had thought that since they hadn't seen each other for so long, and it was their wedding night, Jiang An was unlikely to maintain his self-restraint and propriety. But to her surprise, he really didn't touch her. Could it be that after so long apart, he had lost interest in her sexually?

Jiang An had no idea what Wen Lingshuang was thinking.

He still felt that marrying her was a fantasy, so much so that he couldn't sleep, let alone lie peacefully in bed with her. Whenever he slept beside her, endless romantic thoughts would arise in his mind. He really couldn't bear to touch her because she was so tired and exhausted.

I decided to go downstairs for tea to relieve my boredom.

"Have some tea before you sleep," he said casually, changing the subject. "Why don't you go upstairs and sleep for a while longer?"

Does this mean I'm rejecting her?

Wen Lingshuang's beautiful brows furrowed slightly.

Has she lost her charm? Or has he had enough of her? Or perhaps...?

In those few seconds, countless possibilities arose in my mind.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and said coquettishly, "I've had enough sleep, Jiang An."

It's obvious enough, isn't it?

"Jiang An, come upstairs and keep me company. Don't sleep."

Jiang An slightly bobbed his Adam's apple.

He was well aware of her ability to charm, and casually picked up his teacup and took a sip. "Go to sleep first, sweetie."

He patted her bottom with one hand and said, "Go on."

Wen Lingshuang bit her red lips, glared at him, then gently pushed him away, stood up, straddled him, and said angrily, "What day is it today that you're making me sleep alone?"

Jiang An: "..."

Wen Lingshuang: "I want you to sleep with me!"

Jiang An: "..."

He slowly put down his teacup, looked into her eyes, and said, word by word, "It's 4:34 now."

"So what?"

"You have two options now. First, if you're tired from the wedding, you can go upstairs and sleep until you naturally wake up."

"And what about the second one?"

Wen Lingshuang looked at his finger pointing at his watch, her face flushed instantly, and she pursed her lips, "You have the ability to keep me bedridden for ten days?"

Jiang An raised an eyebrow. "I was taking care of you before, and I didn't dare to get serious because we weren't really husband and wife back then."

He leaned closer and said, "Things are different now, so don't provoke me, Yangyang, you can't handle the consequences."

Wen Lingshuang felt his hot breath, her legs burning. "Then I'll provoke you anyway."

Jiang An chuckled softly, then picked her up and carried her upstairs, supporting her hips with both hands. "Try it."
