Chapter 77 Don't be too cruel, treat the child well!
"Fu Siyan?" The male police officer next to him frowned. "Could it be Fu Siyan, the top legal official?"
"How could that be!" The policewoman waved her hand with a smile. "Attorney Fu's girlfriend is the popular actress Zhou Yuchu. They only recently went public with their relationship, okay? It must be a coincidence of names."
“That’s true.” Another officer chimed in, “Attorney Fu is not only a big shot in the legal profession, but also the eldest son of the Fu family. If he had a son this big, the entire Fu family would definitely cherish him. How could they possibly let the child get lost? That’s ridiculous!”
The policewoman looked at Fu Siyu and asked softly, "Little boy, do you remember your parents' phone numbers?"
“I don’t remember,” Fu Siyu shook his head and said, “but I know where my mother works!”
…
Fu Siyan called Shen Qingshu four or five times in a row, but Shen Qingshu did not answer.
Those two artifacts will arrive today. She will be very busy these next few days and will have neither the time nor the inclination to deal with Fu Siyan.
To avoid being disturbed, she simply left her phone in the office.
She had just entered the recovery room when Lu Xiaohan knocked on the door.
"Sister Qingshu, two policemen have come outside and say they're looking for you."
Shen Qingshu was taken aback. "What are the police doing here?"
"They brought Fu Siyu with them."
Chen Qingshu frowned slightly.
Fu Siyu?
Shen Qingshu took off the apron she had just tied and walked out of the repair room.
"Mother!"
At the studio's reception desk, Fu Siyu, who was being held by a young male police officer, saw Shen Qingshu and excitedly called out.
"Are you Ms. Shen?" The female police officer who came with her stepped forward and showed her identification. "We are from the Lijiang District Police Station."
Shen Qingshu glanced at the identification document, her expression puzzled. "What's going on?"
"Here's the thing, the child got lost this morning, but luckily a sanitation worker found him and called the police. We asked the child, and he said you are his mother, and he gave us the address."
Lost?
Shen Qingshu was somewhat surprised and looked at Fu Siyu.
The moment Fu Siyu saw her looking over, her nose tingled, and she burst into tears, crying out, "Mommy! Mommy, I thought I would never see you again!"
Shen Qingshu frowned, but before she could speak, the policewoman next to her began to lecture her.
"The child said that you and the child's father are getting a divorce. I'm not trying to be mean, but you adults can't just ignore the child even if you're getting a divorce! This child is only five years old. You were lucky nothing happened this time. If something had happened, you would have regretted it too late!"
Upon hearing this, Shen Qingshu's face immediately turned cold. "I am not this child's mother. You have the wrong person."
"No?" The policewoman frowned. "Give me your ID card. We can find out if he's your child with a simple check."
Shen Qingshu frowned deeply.
She and Fu Siyan are not divorced yet; Fu Siyu is indeed still her child on the household registration.
“I’m getting a divorce from the child’s father. This child isn’t my biological child, and his father has custody,” Shen Qingshu explained patiently.
Even so, you are still the child's legal guardian. I understand that being a stepmother is difficult, but this child is only five years old. He kept saying he wanted to find his mother the whole way. I can tell that the child is quite dependent on you. Don't be too cruel to him, treat him well!
Upon hearing this, Shen Qingshu knew that any further explanation would be superfluous, so she looked at Fu Siyu.
"Siyu, call your dad and ask him to come pick you up."
"Mom, Dad hasn't come home for several days. I called him but he didn't answer."
Fu Siyu held back her sobs, tears streaming down her face as she looked at Shen Qingshu. "Mom, I'll be good. Can you let me stay with you for a few days? I'm so scared being home alone."
Upon seeing this, the policewoman's gaze towards Shen Qingshu immediately turned disdainful.
“The child came out of the house alone just to find you. It’s so cold, and he was only wearing pajamas. His feet were all red from the cold. He was so pitiful!”
Upon hearing this, Shen Qingshu's gaze subconsciously swept towards Fu Siyu's exposed little feet.
It was filthy, and its ten tiny toes were red from the cold.
She couldn't help but frown.
The policewoman could tell she was distressed and sighed, advising, "I can tell you're a kind-hearted person. Even if the child isn't yours, please don't send the child away just because the child called you 'Mom'."
Shen Qingshu pursed her lips and remained silent.
"Every family has its own problems. Put aside your grievances with the child's father for now and comfort the child first. The child has suffered a lot this time."
Fu Siyu was ultimately chosen to stay.
After the police left, Shen Qingshu led him to the bathroom in the lounge and turned on the shower to warm water.
"Wash your feet yourself," she said to Fu Siyu, holding up the showerhead.
In the past, Shen Qingshu always did the washing of feet herself.
Fu Siyu could clearly sense that his mother was still in a bad mood. Although he felt a little wronged, he didn't dare to say anything. He obediently did whatever Shen Qingshu asked him to do.
After washing his feet, Shen Qingshu handed him a towel, saying, "Dry them yourself."
Fu Siyu took the towel and silently dried her feet.
There were no more of Fu Siyu's belongings here, so Shen Qingshu gave him her slippers to wear first.
Fu Siyu was wearing adult slippers, and he walked very awkwardly.
Shen Qingshu ignored him, took a short jacket that she rarely wore and handed it to him, "Wear this first, I'll have your dad pick you up later."
Fu Siyu took the coat and obediently put it on.
Shen Qingshu walked out of the lounge and called Fu Siyan.
Fu Siyan's connection showed that he was on a call.
Shen Qingshu sat on the sofa, her expression somewhat cold.
Fu Siyu came out, climbed onto the sofa, and sat obediently next to Shen Qingshu.
Shen Qingshu turned her head, lowered her eyes, and her gaze fell on Fu Siyu's small face.
Fu Siyu immediately lowered her head, her small hands fiddling with the zipper of her coat, looking somewhat restrained and uneasy.
A sense of calm and relief washed over me, a mixture of emotions swirling within me.
She knew the child was innocent and that she shouldn't take out her anger at a child on the adults.
But when she thought about how Fu Siyu was their child, she really couldn't treat him the same way she used to.
Shen Qingshu looked away and dialed Fu Siyan's number again.
This time, Fu Siyan finally accepted.
Before Fu Siyan could speak, Shen Qingshu said directly, "Fu Siyu is with me. Come and pick him up."
"He came to see you?" Fu Siyan paused, then asked, "Is he alright?"
“The police brought it here,” Shen Qingshu glanced at Fu Siyu, her voice indifferent. “When they came, they brought him clothes and shoes.”
"good."
After receiving a clear response from Fu Siyan, Shen Qingshu hung up the phone.
"Mother."
Fu Siyu gently tugged at the hem of Shen Qingshu's clothes.
Shen Qingshu frowned slightly and looked down at him.
Fu Siyu looked at her expectantly, "Mom, are you really... not planning to be my mom anymore?"
"Siyu, you have your own mother, her name is Zhou Yuchu."
Shen Qingshu looked into his eyes and said coldly, "I am not your mother. Don't tell anyone I am your mother anymore. Your behavior of telling the police that I am your mother today has already caused me a lot of trouble."
Fu Siyu stared blankly at Shen Qingshu.
The child's surprise and grievance were impossible to hide.
Shen Qingshu couldn't bear to look any longer and turned her face away.
Fu Siyu frowned, recalling what Xiao Chu's mother had told her—
"If you're pregnant, you'll instinctively protect your belly when you're in danger."
He looked down and caught sight of a magazine next to the sofa.
Is Mom really pregnant?
Fu Siyu gritted his teeth, grabbed the magazine, and threw it at Shen Qingshu's stomach.
