Chapter 513 Farewell Has Quietly Arrived
When Wen Jingxi finished tidying up and entered the master bedroom, Song Lanyin was already lying in bed.
The main light in the room was off, leaving only the small orange lamp on the bedside table.
The woman lay on her side, eyes closed, breathing evenly.
Wen Jingxi closed the door quietly and tiptoed into the dressing room.
Seeing their clothes hanging in the closet, Wen Jingxi truly realized that they were husband and wife.
A warm feeling welled up in his heart as he grabbed his pajamas and went into the bathroom.
Song Lanyin wasn't actually asleep; she was just pretending.
She waited for Wen Jingxi to fall asleep.
About half an hour later, the man who had been holding her as she fell asleep behind her began to breathe evenly.
Song Lanyin slowly opened her eyes, her gaze clear and bright.
Wen Jingxi was sleeping soundly and didn't even notice when Song Lanyin got up.
Around 11 p.m., a tall, slender figure in black emerged from Xinghai Garden.
She was wearing a baseball cap and a mask, with a backpack slung over her shoulder; the black mask obscured her face.
The ride-hailing car she had booked in advance stopped in front of her.
She opened the back door of the car.
Before getting on the bus, she couldn't help but look up at the 28th floor.
The bright moon was still reflected in the French windows, while the room was pitch black.
Her lover was fast asleep, unaware that parting was quietly approaching.
The woman lowered her head, bent down, and got into the car.
He slammed the door shut behind him.
Song Lanyin said in a low voice, "Let's go."
"OK."
The white ride-hailing car drove away, heading towards Beicheng International Airport.
...
Wen Jingxi was woken up by his cell phone ringing.
He reached out to hug Song Lanyin in a daze, but found nothing.
The man frowned, then reached out and touched the spot beside him again. No one was there, and the bed was cold.
He opened his eyes, glanced around the room, and didn't see Song Lanyin.
Wen Jingxi sat up and picked up the constantly ringing cell phone from the bedside table.
It was Grandpa Wen calling. He glanced at the time; it was just before seven in the morning.
The old man is disturbing my peaceful sleep!
Wen Jingxi grumbled inwardly as he swiped to answer the call, lifting the covers and getting out of bed as he spoke, "Grandpa, do you know what time it is?"
"It's seven o'clock!" Grandpa Wen's voice was very energetic. "I got up at five o'clock. Your parents will arrive at the airport around eleven o'clock. You and Ayin will go pick them up!"
"It's not even eleven o'clock yet and you're calling me so early!" Wen Jingxi opened the bedroom door and walked out. "Grandpa, have you forgotten that we're newlyweds?"
Old Master Wen: "..."
The old man hesitated for a few seconds, as if he had just realized what was happening. He coughed twice and asked, "I... I didn't disturb you, did I?"
"Excuse me," Wen Jingxi said deliberately. "Ayin is still sleeping, Grandpa. You're being so inconsiderate."
Grandpa Wen: "...Then I'll hang up now?"
"Do I have to wake Ah Yin up to say goodnight before hanging up?"
Grandpa Wen: "...No need for that. Let Song go to sleep. Don't disturb her."
The old man hung up the phone immediately after he finished speaking.
Wen Jingxi smiled.
The old man now dotes on his granddaughter-in-law far more than he would on his own grandson.
Wen Jingxi took his phone and wandered around the house, but couldn't find Song Lanyin.
"Going out for a workout?"
He walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked down.
The city streets were already quite lively at seven in the morning.
There is a promenade park next to Xinghai Bay. Song Lanyin has a habit of exercising in the morning, and Wen Jingxi guessed that she was probably in the promenade park.
He went back to his room, changed into clothes suitable for exercising, and then went out.
As he stepped out of the elevator, he called Song Lanyin while walking towards the park.
The first call went unanswered, but Wen Jingxi didn't think much of it and continued walking towards the park, dialing the number again.
The second call went unanswered.
At this moment, Wen Jingxi inexplicably became somewhat anxious.
He quickened his pace, crossed the sidewalk, and arrived at the promenade park on the other side.
There is a rainbow rubber running track in the park that runs around the entire park for about two kilometers.
Wen Jingxi looked around, searching for Song Lanyin.
He didn't know how many times he had made the call, but just as his anxiety and panic were about to reach their peak, the call was finally answered.
"Ayin!" Wen Jingxi yelled into the phone, "Where did you go? Why didn't you answer my calls for so long?"
"I just got off the plane," Song Lanyin's voice came from the phone.
"Where did you go?" Wen Jingxi bent down, supporting himself on his knee with one hand, panting.
He had run a lap around this rainbow-colored runway in his search for Song Lanyin, and now that he heard she had just gotten off the plane, a fire ignited in his heart. His tone was sharp: "Song Lanyin, shouldn't you have told me you were going out? On our first day of marriage, you're just leaving without saying goodbye!"
On the other end, Song Lanyin paused slightly, her tone softening, "I'm sorry, it happened so suddenly. I saw you were sleeping soundly, so I didn't want to wake you, but I left you a note on the bedside table. Didn't you see it?"
"I didn't see it!" Wen Jingxi stood up straight, frowning angrily, "What era are we living in that we still use notes? You're my wife, going out in the middle of the night without telling me, and then I wake up and can't find you..."
The more she talked, the angrier she became, and the more aggrieved she felt.
Wen Jingxi raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead. "Song Lanyin, are you deliberately trying to create a sense of panic for me? I'm already yours, and you're still playing hard to get with me, aren't you?"
Song Lanyin: "..."
