Chapter 607 The Grand Reunion (5)
"You're doing it again!" Han Mingyu looked at his four elders, utterly helpless. "I've already reformed, okay? You're still my parents, grandparents, and I've watched you grow up. Don't you even have that much trust in me?"
Upon hearing this, Han's father snorted coldly, "We did trust you, but what did you do?"
Han Mingyu: "That was because I was a bit naive when I was young, but I've made up for it now! I'll never do it again!"
Han's mother added mercilessly, "You're forty years old today, and four years ago you were thirty-six! Still young? I think you're suffering from middle-aged dementia. It's only because our Xiaoxuan is being kind to you for the sake of the two children that she's giving you another chance!"
"Yes, it's because our Xiaoxuan is beautiful and kind-hearted. She's only giving you this out of kindness for the sake of the two children!"
Han Mingyu: "..."
Qi Mingxuan couldn't help but laugh as she watched Han Mingyu being ganged up on by four elders.
She knew, of course, that this was all done by her elders to cheer her up, as they were worried she might feel uncomfortable having just returned.
Qi Mingxuan actually really likes the family atmosphere of the Han family; it's lively and warm.
"Mother!"
A clear, soft, and adorable child's voice came from the other side of the stairs.
Everyone turned around.
Then they saw little Han Xi, wearing a red dress, let go of Qi Yue's hand and run happily towards them.
She lunged at Qi Mingxuan.
Qi Mingxuan reached out and hugged her, lifting her up and placing her on her lap.
Han Xi, who will soon turn five after the New Year, reached out and wrapped her arms around Qi Mingxuan's neck, rubbing her chubby, pink face against her mother's chest. "Mom, are you feeling better?"
"Mommy is all better now." Qi Mingxuan touched her daughter's face, her eyes gentle, and her tone was always soft when she spoke to Xiaobao.
"My brother and dad don't want me to go see you. They say there are too many germs in hospitals and that children can easily get infected there!"
“Your brother and father are right,” Qi Mingxuan patiently explained to her. “You are still young and your immune system is not as strong as adults’. If you accidentally get infected, you will have to get injections and take medicine, which will be very uncomfortable. Moreover, if you get sick, we will all feel sorry for you.”
"Okay!" Xiao Hanxi looked up at Qi Mingxuan and said, "Mom, my brother said you're not taking us to Uncle's house this year. You're staying to celebrate the New Year with us. Is that true?"
"It's true." Qi Mingxuan looked at her daughter with a gentle smile. "Is Xiaobao happy?"
"Happy!!" Little Hanxi clapped her hands excitedly. "Great! Tonight I can celebrate the New Year with my brother, dad, mom, grandpa, grandma, great-grandpa and great-grandma, Grandma Lan, Sister Xiao Jiang, and Pikachu!"
Qi Mingxuan asked in confusion, "Who is Pikachu?"
"It's Xiaobao's pet cat," Han Mingyu said with a smile. "We found it."
Pikachu is a little kitten that Hanxi found in the grass in the backyard last month. She is a calico kitten, less than two months old, and was injured. Her mother cat is nowhere to be found.
Xiao Hanxi then decided to raise it.
Han Mingyu couldn't bear to disappoint his daughter, but the stray cat was injured, so for safety's sake, he asked the maid to take it to the vet for treatment and vaccinations. He only brought the kitten back last week after it had fully recovered.
Xiao Hanxi recently became obsessed with the 'Pikachu' anime, so she named her little calico cat Pikachu.
"I see." After listening to Han Mingyu's explanation, Qi Mingxuan looked at her little daughter in her arms. "Since you've taken it in, you have to treat it well. Even though it's just a kitten, it's still a life. Since you chose to take it in, you have to be responsible for it to the end. Xiaobao, do you understand?"
Xiao Han nodded emphatically, "I know, Dad and my brother both talked to me very seriously, and I've already written a guarantee and put my fingerprint on it. Mom, don't worry, I'll keep my word, I'm a very trustworthy person!"
The little one spoke like an adult and even patted his chest.
His precocious and shrewd manner made everyone present laugh.
Qi Mingxuan patted her youngest daughter's head, then looked up at Qi Yue.
Compared to Han Xi, who was still in kindergarten and could occasionally take leave to go abroad with Han Mingyu to see Qi Mingxuan, Qi Yue had far fewer opportunities to meet Qi Mingxuan.
He could only visit Qi Mingxuan during the winter and summer vacations each year, and even then, the visits were never long because he had a heavy academic workload.
Han Mingyu and Qi Zhao both intend to groom him and want him to take over the company as soon as possible, and Qi Yue has no objection to this.
He was a precocious and mature child, and as he grew older, he became increasingly aloof and self-disciplined. He only showed rare gentleness and patience when facing his younger sister, Xiao Hanxi, and Shen Anning.
Xiao Hanxi is his own younger sister, so it's only right that he spoils her a bit.
As for Shen Anning, Qi Yue naturally treated her like a younger sister. However, whether this was partly due to Shen Anning's words, "Brother Qiyue, I want to be your bride when I grow up!", is something we'll have to ask Qi Yue ten years from now.
Of course, that's a story for another time.
Now thirteen years old, Qi Yue is much taller than his peers. In recent years, his facial features have become more and more defined. While many children his age go through the awkward period of puberty, such as gaining weight and losing teeth, he has perfectly avoided all of them. He can be described as a refined version of perfect growth.
"Qi Yue, come here." Qi Mingxuan beckoned to Qi Yue.
Qi Yue walked up to her, looked at her, and called out, "Mom."
"You've grown taller since I last saw you this semester." Qi Mingxuan reached out and squeezed his hand. "You'll be thirteen soon. Is there anything you want as a gift?"
Qi Yue shook his head sensibly, "Mom, I don't lack anything."
"Mom knows you don't need anything, but Mom just wants to give you a gift."
Qi Yue pursed his lips, thought for a moment, and said, "Then I want a skateboard."
Qi Mingxuan was a little surprised, "You want to learn skateboarding?"
“I can already skateboard,” Qi Yue said. “I saw Nian’an playing with it at Aunt Shen’s house before, so I tried to learn it too.”
Han Mingyu looked at his son and said, "If you go once a week and stay for two or three hours each time, you'll get it?"
Qi Yue turned to look at him, frowned slightly, and asked casually, "Is skateboarding a difficult thing?"
Han Mingyu: "..."
"Our Qi Yue is so smart!" Mother Han got up and walked to Qi Yue, smiling as she patted his head. "He's learned everything so quickly since he was little. He definitely inherited his mother's high intelligence. Luckily, he didn't inherit it from his father!"
As she spoke, she didn't forget to glare at Han Mingyu.
Han Mingyu, with one hand in his pocket, chuckled in exasperation, "Mom, without me, where would Qi Yue and Xiao Bao come from? Oh, no, even a daughter-in-law as good as Xiao Xuan is only possible because of me!"
Han's mother snorted coldly, "You haven't made any progress in the past few years, but your skin has gotten thicker and thicker!"
"Daddy's shameless, shame on you!" Little Hanxi scratched her chubby cheeks with her short, chubby fingers.
Han Mingyu: "..."
He finally understood that his status in this family was even lower than that of a dog!
