Chapter 469: A Bond and a Redemption
The operating room doors slammed shut.
Han Mingyu still tried to rush inside, shouting, "I want to go in! Let me in!"
The nurse frowned and explained, "Mr. Han, the mother is currently experiencing severe bleeding and her condition is very critical. This is different from a normal delivery, and I'm sorry, family members cannot apply to be present during this situation."
Han Mingyu's face was pale, and his tall body swayed precariously.
"The baby's fetal heart rate is not good, and the placenta has abrupted. We must perform a cesarean section immediately. However, the baby is only 30 weeks pregnant and must be transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit immediately after birth. Mr. Han, please sign these informed consent forms and surgical consent forms."
Han Mingyu took the pen; it was covered with dense writing—there were several copies, after all. He didn't bother to look at them and tremblingly signed his name.
The nurse took the signed informed consent form and turned to leave.
Han Mingyu squatted down, hugged his head, and waited anxiously for the surgery results.
The driver has already gone back to the Qi family to pick up Qi Zhao.
A few minutes later, footsteps could be heard coming from the other end of the corridor.
Han's parents rushed over with Lan's mother.
"Where's Xiaoxuan?" Han's mother glanced at the operating room, her gaze falling on Han Mingyu's face. Seeing his dejected appearance, her heart leaped into her throat. "Han Mingyu, say something!"
Han Mingyu shook his head, "I, I don't know..."
"You..." Han's mother was furious, "What do you think you know!"
Mr. Han patted Mrs. Han on the shoulder, "Don't worry, we've arranged for the best specialists and directors at Jikang Hospital, everything will be fine."
Han's mother lowered her head to wipe away her tears, then looked up and said, "I'll call Mom and ask her to go to the ancestral hall to light incense and ask your Han family ancestors to bless you and your child with peace..."
Han's father responded indifferently.
Lan's mother stood to the side, holding her hospital bag in her hand.
Qi Mingxuan had prepared all of these things long ago.
The child should have been born in early spring.
The premature birth is likely to bring bad luck.
About twenty minutes later, Qi Zhao arrived.
Uncle Qi pushed him to the outside of the operating room.
Ji Lin also arrived at this time.
He had just finished an operation when he heard from his father that Qi Mingxuan had suffered a massive hemorrhage and had been rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. He took off his surgical gown and hurried over.
The atmosphere became unusually tense when Qi Zhao appeared.
I thought he would question me, but he didn't.
He merely glanced at the closed operating room door and asked with a stern face, "What did the doctor say?"
Ji Lin had already learned the general situation in advance.
He walked to Qi Zhao's side and said in a deep voice, "Placeal abruption, she is undergoing a cesarean section, and everything is going smoothly so far."
Upon hearing this, Qi Zhao closed his eyes and tightened his grip on the wheelchair. "I only pray that Xiao Xuan is safe and sound."
"Don't worry, the experts are all here, and the hospital visit was completed in a timely manner," Ji Lin reassured him.
Han's parents, standing to the side, secretly breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Ji Lin's words.
The atmosphere was generally heavy.
Qi Zhao ignored Han Mingyu, and Han's parents, knowing they were in the wrong, naturally wouldn't step forward to speak for Han Mingyu.
About ten minutes later, the head of the neonatal department and nurses pushed an incubator out of the operating room.
Han Mingyu rushed forward immediately.
Seeing only the child, he instinctively asked the doctor, "Where's my wife?"
"The mother is still getting stitches; we are from the neonatal department."
The 30-week-old newborn lay in an incubator, with tubes inserted into its body; it was a tiny, wrinkled little thing.
The nurse said, "It's a baby girl, weighing 1528 grams at birth. Because she was premature, she needs to be transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit immediately. One family member will come with me."
Han Mingyu looked at his daughter in the incubator.
She was the daughter he had been longing for!
In that instant, the man burst into tears again, completely losing his composure.
Han's mother stepped forward and said, "Lan's mother and I will go over there. Xiaoxuan's situation isn't over yet, Mingyu, you have to stay and watch over her."
Han Mingyu nodded.
The fetus was sent to the neonatal ward.
About half an hour later, the operating room doors opened and the surgeon came out.
At this moment, Han Mingyu, Qi Zhao, and Ji Lin all rushed forward immediately.
"Director Zhang, how is the mother's condition?"
"He's out of danger now." Director Zhang took off his mask and breathed a sigh of relief. "It was a close call. He can be transferred back to his ward after the observation period."
Upon hearing this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Qi Zhao said to Uncle Qi, "Go with Ji Lin to handle Xiao Xuan's hospitalization procedures and arrange the best ward."
Upon hearing this, Han Mingyu looked at Qi Zhao: "Big brother, let me go..."
"You?" Qi Zhao sneered. "The only thing you can do now is to stay away! I've already asked the driver! Xiao Xuan was perfectly fine until she saw you on the way, Han Mingyu. Don't you understand? Xiao Xuan is sick! Now, every time she sees you, she'll think of what happened that night!"
Han Mingyu was stunned!
how so……
He shook his head, "No, how could she..."
"I've tolerated you time and time again for the sake of our two children, Han Mingyu. I'm begging you, as the older brother, please sign the divorce papers and let Xiaoxuan go!"
Han Mingyu's face turned deathly pale.
He staggered back a few steps, his back against the cold wall.
The image that flashed through my mind was Qi Mingxuan losing control.
No wonder she said they could never go back.
That night, a single wrong decision ruined their future.
Han Mingyu's face turned ashen, and he could no longer utter a word of pleading.
...
After Qi Mingxuan's observation period ended, she was transferred to a VIP ward on the 20th floor arranged by Qi Zhao.
Han Mingyu was not allowed to visit.
However, Han's parents treated Qi Mingxuan well, and Qi Zhao still treated them differently.
Even if things don't go well, they are still grandparents of two children.
Qi Yue only heard about Qi Mingxuan's trip to the hospital to give birth when he got home from school.
The Qi family's driver brought him over.
Han's mother took him to visit Qi Mingxuan in the ward first.
Qi Mingxuan was still unconscious, and Qi Yue touched her face.
He will be 9 years old after the New Year.
Qi Zhao sat in her wheelchair, looking at Qi Yue.
He felt that Qi Yue's eyebrows and eyes resembled Han Mingyu's, but his nose and mouth resembled Qi Mingxuan's.
He's such an easy child to raise, and even his looks seem to have inherited the best features from his parents.
Qi Yue noticed Qi Zhao's gaze and turned to look at him.
Qi Zhao was taken aback when he suddenly turned around.
"Hello, Uncle." Qi Yue walked over and greeted him. "I'm Qi Yue. My mom often mentions you to me."
Qi Zhao's Adam's apple bobbed, and his eyes inexplicably welled up with tears. He smiled gently and said, "Really? What did your mother tell you about me?"
"My mom says my uncle is the best person in the world to her!"
Upon hearing this, Qi Zhao was taken aback.
The next second, he could no longer hold back, raised his hand to cover his eyes, and burst into tears.
“Silly girl…your mother is just a silly girl…”
Qi Yue never expected that her words would make her seemingly serious uncle cry.
He pulled out a few tissues and handed them to Qi Zhao. "Uncle, you and my mother are a lot like each other. You both look very serious and fierce usually, but you burst into tears at the slightest word from someone."
Qi Zhao: "..."
Qi Yue tilted his head. "But I really like you guys!"
Qi Zhao suddenly raised her head, her red and moist eyes staring at Qi Yue.
Qi Yue wiped away his tears. "Uncle, don't worry, I will study hard and help you and Mom manage the company in the future. With me here, you and Mom can enjoy a good life."
Qi Zhao chuckled and ruffled Qi Yue's hair with his large hand.
"Small in stature but big in wisdom." That's what he said, but in his heart he couldn't help but sigh, perhaps this is the meaning of having children.
Before today, he always felt that Qi Yue and Xiao Bao's existence would be a burden to Qi Mingxuan.
But now he suddenly realized that, perhaps from another perspective, if it weren't for Qi Yue's presence, Qi Mingxuan might not have been able to endure those eight years of loneliness.
