Chapter 10: Re-entering the Palace

As he walked, broken cups and plates were constantly accidentally crushed under Gu Junwen's feet.

The room was in a mess and reeked of alcohol.

Gu Junwen covered his nose, carefully avoided the two people who were still sleeping soundly, and pushed open the window.

The wind, still carrying the chill of winter, blew in all at once, and Gu Junwen sneezed suddenly without noticing, and tears streamed down his face.

Perhaps hearing the noise from inside, someone outside politely knocked on the door of the compartment: "Three gentlemen, are you up?"

The voice was sharp and thin, but he had never heard it before. Gu Junwen shook his aching head and rubbed his temples, and the inexplicable emotions in his heart became more and more obvious.

Did I forget something? I always felt that this person was not friendly.

Is this voice the eunuch in the palace?

Before Gu Junwen could figure out what was going on, the door was gently pushed open, and a group of young palace maids and eunuchs formed two teams and walked in one after another with their heads lowered.

They had a clear division of labor. Some went to help Ye Nanyiyi, some went to pull Qin Yanzhou, and another team stood respectfully on both sides of Gu Junwen waiting.

Walking at the back was a handsome young eunuch in indigo-colored uniform. The restaurant owner followed him obediently with his head bowed.

The young eunuch's expression changed instantly when he saw Gu Junwen. He bowed to Gu Junwen with an apologetic smile:

"General Gu, are you awake? I am Caizi, the godson of Eunuch Cai. I have received the order from His Majesty that Prince Xuannan, General Gu, and Qin Tanhua enter the palace to meet him."

Not knowing whether it was a blessing or a curse, the confusion after the hangover made Gu Junwen still unable to fully understand what day it was. She could only subconsciously respond obediently: "I obey your order."

As they were talking, Ye Nanyiyi and Qin Yanzhou were also awakened. They drunkenly received the one-stop service and also received the oral instructions from Emperor Mingde.

Soon, the three people, who were dressed up, felt dizzy and were helped into the carriage by the servants.

With the neighing of a horse, a carriage marked with the royal emblem quietly passed through the streets and went straight into the palace.

In the carriage, the little palace maid who had been prepared handed out bowls of sobering soup.

The three of them drank it one after another, and when they sobered up a little, they looked at each other, leaning against the carriage to digest what had just happened, not knowing how to react.

After a stick of incense, the carriage stopped with a slight sound.

The young palace maids got out of the carriage in an orderly manner, and then the curtain was lifted. The young eunuch who had been leading the way was waiting by the side with his hands hanging down.

The three of them calmed down and followed the eunuch who led the way into the depths of the palace.

The scenery along the way was beautiful, but Gu Junwen was so busy hurrying along with his head down that he couldn't appreciate anything.

A towering palace blocked the way before him. Gu Junwen raised his head and looked around, not knowing where he was.

"This is the Tai Chi Hall." Qin Yanzhou, who had just relieved his headache, kindly reminded and began to rub his temples again.

"Your Majesty, the people have arrived."

"Let them in." Emperor Mingde's voice was extremely clear in the empty hall.

Just by listening to the voice, you can tell that Emperor Mingde is in a bad mood today.

When the emperor is angry, corpses are scattered all over the place.

Thinking about the descriptions in history books, Gu Junwen was so scared that he huddled into a ball, unconsciously slowing down his pace, wishing he could hide his own existence.

But no matter how slow she walked, she would eventually step into the palace after only a few steps.

The three of them stood still and knelt down in worship in turn.

But after a long time, the only sounds were the sound of Eunuch Cai fanning himself and the sound of the palace maid adding incense to the incense burner. The hall was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.

Emperor Mingde's eyes were always fixed on the memorials, and he did not give any to the three people.

The aromatherapy smoke floats gently in the breeze, and the room is quiet.

"What a great group of three heroes of Kyoto." Just before Gu Junwen was about to fall asleep, Emperor Mingde put down his pen, stretched slowly, and walked to the table with the help of Eunuch Cai.

"I am terrified." Qin Yanzhou reacted the fastest and bowed again quickly.

"Fearful? I think you are very brave." Emperor Mingde's face was gloomy, and he pointed at the memorial on the table, "Do you know what this is? It's a memorial impeaching you."

"You refused to pay the bill, stayed out all night, and seriously injured officers and soldiers. This is what you did last night." Emperor Mingde was so angry that he drank the tea on the table.

"Your Majesty, calm down. You are just a young man after all." Eunuch Cai brought a cup of tea at the right time and comforted him in a low voice.

"You old thing, you only know how to comfort me." Emperor Mingde scolded with a smile, but still took the tea. "Go, show it to them."

"Yes." Eunuch Cai bowed respectfully and handed a piece of paper to the three people.

Gu Junwen mustered up the courage to look up and saw the words written in black and white:

The Heaven is above, the Earth is below, today the three of us have formed the Three Heroes of Kyoto to help those in need...

The most important thing is that the last three people on the white paper printed three seals with rouge.

After reading this, Gu Junwen felt his eyelids twitching. It was true that drinking would cause trouble.

However, probably not many people know this.

But the reality is so cruel. The voice of Emperor Mingde continued: "And today, the Jingzhao Yinfu submitted a memorial. You, the Southern Prince, actually asked the Kyoto Bookstore to print 800 copies urgently and post them all over the streets and alleys of Kyoto. Isn't this nonsense!"

Eight hundred copies, on the streets? Gu Junwen felt his head buzzing.

It was over, her fame was ruined.

It's written in black and white and you can't deny it!

The three heroes of Kyoto are posted all over the streets and alleys, which sounds very childish.

"I know I'm wrong." Ye Nan kowtowed again and again. Now that things had come to a point, he could only kowtow.

"The Jingzhao Prefecture tore up all the papers this morning. But word of mouth has spread, and many people know about it." Emperor Mingde sighed as he thought about it.

Having such subjects is unfortunate for the country and the Ye family.

"Cai Quanfu, pass on my order. Ye Nanyi, the Prince of the South, has abused his royal power and is under house arrest for three days. Qin Yanzhou, the third place winner, will be taken back by Minister Qin for strict discipline. As for General Gu..."
