Chapter 55
It's definitely hot all over.
Lin Langyi sat at the dining table, propping herself up with her arms behind her back, thinking that after all the twists and turns, this day had finally come.
Yuan Chuyu stood up from his squatting position, wrapped his arms around her, and placed his palms right against her fingertips.
He leaned forward, supporting himself in front of her, in a secretive, possessive posture.
Lin Langyi looked at him.
She knew he wanted to kiss her again.
His thick, dark eyelashes drooped down, his jet-black eyes were slightly moist, and his moist, crimson lips, paired with his pale, sickly face, gave him a ghostly, cold, and beautiful look.
He wiped the moisture from his lips, turned his head and buried his face in her hair, kissing her on the side of her neck before taking a box of T-shirts from the shopping bag on the chair and slowly tearing it open.
She had barely moved her leg backward when he suddenly grabbed it, pulled her leg forward with force, and her knee slammed into his waist and abdomen.
The waist chain slumped down, and a row of beads trembled.
She flicked the pearl with her toes, paused, and then loosely wrapped her legs around him.
He turned his head to follow her graceful movements and looked back, focusing on her calves. He reached out and pinched her ankle, rubbing it soothingly. Then, with a gentle flick of his long fingers, he lifted her wobbly slipper, which she was barely holding, and put it on the ground.
With a "smack," he knocked the other one off as well.
Without even glancing at her, he placed his long, slender fingers back on her ankle and slowly stroked her calf upwards.
He stopped pinching her mid-calf, staring at her silently like a snake that wouldn't let go once it had bitten her.
Lin Langyi felt her shoulder blades clench under his gaze. Just as she was about to step back a little, he suddenly grabbed her calf and pulled her forward with even greater force.
Caught off guard, she was pulled half a body away and almost lost her balance. He then slowly took half a step forward, pressing his leg against hers, making her completely dependent on him, fitting her perfectly.
The table rattled slightly, and his breathing was labored; his suppressed gasps were more frequent than usual, making them all the more alluring and captivating at such times.
He repeatedly asked her to call his name, running his fingers through her long hair from head to toe. The gentler his hands were, the more excessive his body became, as he listened to her call his name again and again in a chaotic and disordered manner.
Lin Langyi's phone lay to the side, its light illuminating the room, but neither of them paid it any attention. At times like these, he was completely out of character, behaving like a spoiled child, relentlessly pursuing her, even while verbally coaxing her. A moment later, he picked her up and carried her directly from the dining room to the bedroom.
After walking a few steps, the two of them couldn't take it anymore. They walked and stopped frequently over a distance of about ten meters. Finally, he pressed the person against the door to quench his thirst briefly before they both fell into the soft quilt.
When Lin Langyi woke up again, it was already dusk outside the window. She was nestled in a soft, dark gray quilt, with a burning hot arm wrapped around her waist.
She had barely moved to the side when the arm around her waist suddenly tightened. Yuan Chuyu was still half asleep, his head tilted slightly, and he instinctively pulled her closer to him.
A wet pearl waist chain still lay on the ground. Despite his fever, he still hooked her finger and coaxed her to sit forward, asking her in a gentle voice if there was any difference in his abs when he sat on her, since he had recently increased the intensity of his workouts.
Lin Langyi was so dazzled and confused at the time that she had no energy left to consider such a question.
He was sweating, his hair plastered to his face, making his features look radiant. Her eyelashes were wet, and she wanted to stop, but he persisted, saying that the fever would subside once she sweated. He then held her legs tightly, coaxing her by saying he was thirsty and wanted water.
He particularly enjoys kissing, but he was sick today and knew it wasn't good for him, so he could only force himself to distract himself, staring intently at her lips and focusing his energy elsewhere.
After all the chaos, he is now sleeping soundly. Since returning from the hospital after receiving an IV drip, he spent the afternoon filling the house with household supplies, tidying up, cooking, and then taking her from the dining room to the bedroom. Now he is finally sleeping peacefully, his breathing long and even.
Lin Langyi was also exhausted and didn't want to move at all.
After she finished eating, her conscience finally returned, and she realized that she didn't seem to have come to take care of the patient at all.
When she had menstrual cramps last time, he took good care of her, but now she seems like a heartless monster, sucking away at her lifespan.
After a brief three-minute reflection, Lin Lang remembered the food on the table and immediately didn't want to stay in bed anymore. Just as he moved Yuan Chuyu's arm away to go find food, Yuan Chuyu was woken up.
He squinted at her, his eyes half-closed, and mumbled "Zhuzhu" before reaching under the covers to grab her and stop her from leaving.
Lin Langyi quickly said, "I'm hungry."
"Hmm." He straightened up slightly, propped himself up on his elbows, and the blanket slipped down from his shoulders, revealing his smooth-lined body.
The spirit is someone else entirely.
"The placemats for the plates are kept at a constant temperature, so they won't get cold." He strained his shoulders, his joints cracking, and sat up completely. "I'll bring them in for you."
Lin Langyi: "Are you sick or am I sick?"
He got out of bed: "I bought a folding table, let's eat in bed together, no need to get up."
Upon hearing this, Lin Langyi kicked her legs and completely gave up: "Then please bring my phone in as well, thank you, brother."
He suddenly turned around and glanced at her, his eyes mischievous.
Lin Langyi pulled the blanket up, her words carrying a hidden meaning: "Didn't you enjoy listening to that just now?"
The two of them ate a meal together on the bed. There wasn't much of the food on the table that he could eat, and his appetite was also so-so. He ate slowly and deliberately, just to keep her company.
After Lin Langyi finished eating and drinking, she felt bad and, on a whim, said, "Shall I cook you a meal?"
He paused, his face clearly showing emotion, his eyes softening, and he pressed his lips together: "No need, you should get some rest."
His adorable appearance was particularly endearing, and Lin Langyi made up her mind: "You just wait."
She boldly took out all the frozen food she had brought earlier, examined the various meatballs and tofu puffs, and decided to make a bowl of noodles.
She fried two eggs, flipped them over, added the pickled cabbage from the remaining half packet of pickled cabbage fish seasoning, stir-fried them until fragrant, and then added water.
Then I started putting in tofu puffs, shrimp balls, and fish balls, and after putting in all that stuff, half of the things in the refrigerator were gone.
After adding the seasonings, she put the lid on the pot and watched with satisfaction as all the meatballs swelled up and floated to the surface. Shimohara Chuyu had already washed the vegetables and mushrooms but hadn't had time to cook them yet, and finally, she put in a handful of noodles.
Before taking the noodles off the heat, Chef Lin felt that they didn't look nutritious enough, so he added the sliced beef that Yuan Chuyu had eaten a few bites of earlier. Now the noodles finally looked like they had plenty of ingredients and looked presentable.
She lifted the pot, and the bowl was quite heavy. After scooping it out, there was still some left in the pot, so she had no choice but to let Yuan Chuyu come and eat it.
He had long wanted to stay by her side and watch her prepare a loving dinner, but Chef Lin firmly refused, pressing him back onto the bed and ordering him to lie down and rest. Hearing her call him now, he immediately rushed over in a few quick steps.
Upon entering the kitchen, he saw Lin Langyi looking at him with a troubled expression, still holding a silicone spatula in her hand.
"What happened?" Yuan Chuyu remembered the sound of oil splattering that he had just heard, and seeing the mess in the kitchen, his heart tightened. He took two steps to her and checked her arm. "Did you burn yourself?"
"No..." Lin Langyi awkwardly put the spatula back into the pot. "When I poured the noodles out, they all spilled out by accident. This bowl is too full to carry."
So that's how it is.
Yuan Chuyu breathed a sigh of relief and touched her ear: "It's okay, you can eat a couple of bites in the kitchen before moving to the dining room."
He picked up his chopsticks, walked to the table, bent his back into a graceful curve, and tasted a bite.
“Not bad.” He turned his head and saw her solemn expression, then chuckled. “I tasted it…hmm, a very rich and varied flavor.”
Lin Langyi remained standing in place, ready for battle.
"It's really good." He was amused. "The soup made from stir-fried pickled cabbage and eggs is very delicious."
He said that, and he really did stand in the kitchen, eating politely bite by bite. The frozen meatballs and the beef that he had only touched twice before had changed appearance, and he finished them all.
He didn't stand up until he had scooped out the last few mushrooms from the pot, then he cleared away the bowls, chopsticks, and pot.
Lin Langyi said with satisfaction, "Yuan Chuyu, you're like a cleaner in the river."
He glanced at her, his tone indifferent: "Your plan to empty the fridge?"
“But I usually eat like this if I don’t order takeout or eat in the cafeteria.” She pointed to the pot. “I have a small saucepan. I cook the food in it and eat from the pot, so I don’t have to clean up a bowl.”
He put the dishes into the dishwasher: "From now on, you won't have to cook anymore."
"Um?"
He casually remarked, "It just so happens that I'm very good at cooking."
Lin Langyi reminded him, "Have you forgotten that Cheng Yanjin has been liberated?"
"So what?" he asked dismissively. "What impact will it have?"
Seeing her staring at him, he looked away, his eyelashes drooping: "You can say it's takeout."
As the two were talking, the phone rang again. Lin Langyi picked it up and saw that it was full of messages.
Her phone had indeed been ringing, but she hadn't had time to pay attention to it. Now, when she looked at it, in addition to Cheng Yanjin's message that "I'll be out of quarantine tomorrow," Meng Hui had also sent her a long message.
[Zhuzhu, I wonder if you're still busy at this hour? Mom has been thinking about this for a long time, and I still want to talk to you about what's on my mind.]
[How is Mr. Yuan's health after going to the hospital today? If there's any improvement, please let us know so we can all be at ease.]
[Zhuzhu, although you say there's nothing between you and him, Mom still wants to say a few words to you. Before, because of Ying Shan Lake, you got together with Yan Jin. Mom knows you didn't really want to, but you've always been the kind of person who's willing to pay a price for your goals, which is why you agreed to this arranged marriage.]
[Regarding Ashu's two companies, you suddenly have the money to invest, and there's still the shortfall of over 40 million in previous business loans... I've already given your father a good talking-to about this. He's still handling things with the mindset of a small, makeshift family business, which is why he contacted Cheng's and Yingyuan one after the other.]
[Yingyuan is a giant to us, while we can only be considered small partners. So, in theory, we shouldn't have been able to secure this funding. But you've managed to raise such a large sum of money in such a short time, and Mom is worried that you've paid a price for your goals again.]
[Zhuzhu, we don't need you to do that. Sometimes Mom reflects on herself, wondering if it's because we didn't give you enough security at home, causing you to only believe in what you hold in your own hands and take everything else lightly. Since coming to City A, your dad and brother have been traveling back and forth, and I occasionally go back to City G. You just mentioned, "Mom, you don't need to cook, I can take care of myself." It seems that our family has had very few opportunities to eat together.]
[You are exceptionally talented, ambitious, and hardworking, and Mom is incredibly proud of you. At the same time, Mom also wants to say that your father and I can make mistakes once and that's enough. We don't need to sacrifice you for any future gains or benefits. Mom is also thinking that if you and Yan Jin really don't get along in the future, the family will support your divorce. So you don't need to get involved with Yuan Chuyu for the sake of the family.]
Of course, these are just my own guesses, and maybe I'm overthinking it, but as long as you're happy, nothing else matters.
"The bed in the master bedroom is all made up." Yuan Chuyu came over after taking his medicine, still holding a cup in his hand. "If you didn't bring any pajamas, I have two new sets here, both of which have been dry-cleaned."
Lin Langyi tapped rapidly on the screen, smiling as she said, "President Yuan is truly meticulous and thorough in every detail."
He looked at her gently: "Yes, I'm worried that you might forget to bring it sometimes, so you won't have to find a solution on the spot."
That's clearly meant to prevent her from using it as an excuse not to stay overnight.
Lin Langyi sent the message, put down her phone, locked the screen, and walked straight to the bathroom: "I'll let you off the hook since your fever hasn't gone down yet."
A soft, pleasant laugh came from behind me.
She spent the night on the 17th floor.
Before going to sleep, Meng Hui sent a reply. Lin Langyi glanced at it and then casually withdrew it.
"Mom, that's not true. I have absolutely no relationship with Yuan Chuyu."
That's good (with roses). Get some rest.
Lin Langyi glanced at the person beside her, turned off the last small nightlight, and seemed to be saying something to someone:
"good evening."
