Chapter 126 New Year

"Brother, thank you so much. Thank you for taking such good care of Yueyue. Thank you."

As the year draws to a close, many things have happened this year. The reunion dinner on New Year's Eve was a joint affair of the Huo, Wen, Lin, Fang, and Pei families.

We ate at Huo Tingxiao and Wen Xingyue's new house.

It's also a good opportunity to warm their house.

After a few rounds of drinks, Lin Zhiyuan, his eyes and face red, raised his glass, looked at Wen's father, and bowed respectfully.

Thank you to the Wen family for raising their youngest daughter so well.

"Brother Lin, what are you saying? It's fate that Yueyue came to our family, and it's our family's good fortune to have met Yueyue."

Father Wen also raised his wine glass, smiling faintly.

I've been observing the Lin family for a while now, and they seem alright. Perhaps because they feel guilty about losing their daughter for twenty years, the Lin family is doing everything they can to treat Wen Xingyue well, sending her all sorts of nice things.

The Lin couple even decided to move to the capital to settle down, so that they could see Wen Xingyue in the future.

Of course, more importantly, after observing for a long time, the Wen family realized that the Lin family really had no intention of taking their daughter away from them, and only then did they feel relieved.

The Wen family did not prevent the Lin family from contacting Wen Xingyue.

Anyway, it's good to have more people who are good to their daughter. Everyone loves Yueyue. If anyone doesn't like her, then they have bad taste.

Wen's parents felt that their daughter was perfect in every way.

"Yueyue, eat more."

Wen Xingyue was surrounded by them. Their children were left to eat at a table next to them by a group of adults. Several of her older brothers sat around her. Next to Wen Xingyue was Huo Tingxiao, and to her right were Wen Lingyue, Wen Rushang, the three older brothers from the Lin family, and Huo Tingjun.

"Little sister, little sister, eat shrimp, shrimp is nutritious."

Lin Li stood up and placed the peeled shrimp into Wen Xingyue's bowl, vying for her affection with his brothers.

"My little sister eats fish; eating fish makes her smart."

Lin Qing glanced at his younger brother and then helped Wen Xingyue hold the fish belly.

"Is Big Brother saying that Little Sister isn't smart? Little Sister, we won't listen to Big Brother, let's eat chicken wings. This was made by Second Brother, Little Sister, try it and see if you like it. If you like it, Second Brother will make it for Yueyue again next time."

Lin Tian glanced at his eldest brother and third brother, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Wen Xingyue was surrounded by a large group of people, who were chatting and laughing.

The commotion of their vying for favor reached the ears of the adults at the next table, who came to investigate.

"Hahaha—everyone loves Yueyue!"

Mr. Wen laughed heartily, his pride evident in his eyes.

"Yes, it's all thanks to Brother Wen and the others for taking such good care of Yueyue. Our family has such a joy to be blessed with."

Mr. Huo was also speaking.

...

Firecrackers went off outside the courtyard.

It's Chinese New Year, and the sound of firecrackers has been constant lately.

The children in the compound were running around outside with firecrackers in their hands.

"Hahaha—come and chase me then—"

"Bring it on! Who's afraid of who!"

"You stay right there and don't run away! You lost and you owe me a box of firecrackers!"

The sounds of children laughing and playing in the courtyard outside never stopped.

"Sister-in-law, let's go out and release the animals too."

Huo Tingjun, who was in the living room, also felt a little itchy and decisively turned his head to call out to Wen Xingyue.

They had almost finished eating.

"Set off firecrackers, great, great!"

This is Wen Xingyue's first New Year in the human world. There are "two" children in the family, and Huo's parents bought a lot of New Year's goods for the house.

The Wen and Lin families brought over a lot of New Year's goods, and Huo Tingjun and Wen Xingyue played with them non-stop.

"Sister, shall we go together?" Wen Xingyue called out to Wen Lingyue.

"good."

"Come on, come on, sister-in-law, Sister Lingyue."

Huo Tingjun left his seat and quickly went to get the firecrackers that were placed on the cabinet.

"You guys better be careful."

Wen's mother peered over and gave her instructions.

"Okay, Mom." Wen Xingyue waved her hand.

He grabbed Wen Lingyue and they quickly left the courtyard.

The remaining table was occupied by the adults, and Huo Tingxiao, Wen Ru, and the three elder brothers of the Lin family.

"Sister—sister, you play this so beautifully! It lights up when you turn it on, it's so pretty!"

Outside, Wen Xingyue was playing with sparklers with Wen Lingyue.

The sound of Huo Tingjun lighting the firecracker exploded in the air.

The smiles in the eyes of the people in the living room had not faded.

Huo Tingxiao's deep eyes held a gentle smile as he gazed through the door frame at the outside world, a beautiful, smiling face under the dim streetlights in the courtyard, holding a handful of sparklers.

"Huo Tingxiao, stop looking and drink. You're such a hopeless wife-gazing thing. Yueyue only went out for a short while, and you can't take your eyes off her."

Wen Rushang patted him on the shoulder and poured him a glass of wine from his empty cup.

“Yes, Tingxiao, Yueyue and the others have gone out, so we should have a good drink too.”

Lin Qing also raised his glass, which was filled with baijiu (Chinese liquor).

"Brother-in-law, come on, let's have a drink too."

Lin Tian also moved his stool.

Huo Tingxiao glanced at his brothers-in-law, who were all trying to get him drunk, and smiled.

He drank all the drinks offered by his brothers-in-law.

They ate their reunion dinner in the evening.

By the time the family finished eating, it was completely dark.

The Huo, Wen, and Lin families slowly left.

...

After seeing off the whole family, Huo Tingxiao took Wen Xingyue's hand and walked home.

"Huo Tingxiao, are you drunk?"

Wen Xingyue felt the burning heat in her palm; it felt very hot.

"No."

Huo Tingxiao lowered his eyes and stared at his home, which was getting closer and closer. He held the hand of the person in front of him and walked slowly step by step. Their shadows were long under the streetlights, intertwined as if they wanted to stay together forever.
