After a busy afternoon at the clinic, I finally finished seeing all the patients.
Wen Xingyue was packing her things to go home.
"Sister-in-law! Big brother's back! Did you know?"
Huo Tingjun, carrying a schoolbag, quickly ran into the store.
I saw him this afternoon.
Wen Xingyue has gentle features.
"Sister-in-law, let me help you. I bought some beef patties. Have something to eat, and we'll go home for dinner tonight."
Huo Tingjun, carrying his schoolbag, stepped forward and handed a hot beef patty to Wen Xingyue before turning around to organize the medicinal herbs.
In the past two years, Huo Tingjun has frequently come to the clinic to do odd jobs, so he is quite familiar with the clinic.
Huo Tingjun is now taller than Wen Xingyue, and standing behind her, he looks like an adult.
"good."
With Huo Tingjun's help, Wen Xingyue was also busy, helping to tidy up.
Wen Xingyue opened a clinic, but she wasn't someone who would overwork herself. She enjoyed treating patients, but she also enjoyed life.
The clinic has a limited number of patients per day. You have to queue up and get a number before they will see you. Serious injuries, serious illnesses, and emergencies are treated first. This is what her older sister taught her.
Otherwise, if you wait in line all day and still don't get a turn, it will only waste everyone's time.
Of course, she will occasionally extend the consultation time when there are many patients.
Wen Xingyue doesn't make money from her clinic. She opened the clinic simply to hone her medical skills. Sometimes, when she encounters poor families who can't afford medical care, Wen Xingyue will provide free medical consultations and medicine.
As her reputation grew, more and more people came to see her, and Wen Xingyue was often busy until late at night.
She only had time to rest after Wen Xingyue introduced the limited number of license plates.
The clinic also hired people to do odd jobs, but Wen Xingyue was not one to enslave people. She preferred to do things herself in most matters at the clinic.
When it was time to leave work, he let everyone go and stayed behind to clean up the clinic and organize the medicinal herbs.
During this time, Huo Tingxiao was away, and Wen Xingyue had no one to keep her company when she got home from get off work. Bored, she simply stayed at the clinic for a long time.
As darkness fell, Xiao Jun, worried about her, would come to the clinic to wait for her after school, take her home, and then go home herself.
"Still packing?" The two were arranging the medicinal herbs when someone entered from behind them.
"Big brother!" Huo Tingjun greeted Huo Tingxiao with a big smile as he entered.
"Hmm, you've grown taller again." Huo Tingxiao took two steps forward and patted his shoulder.
"Why didn't you go home to rest? We'll be back soon."
Wen Xingyue looked at him. The man had changed his clothes; he was wearing a military green suit, T-shirt, and pants.
These were his spare clothes for the army.
He must have gone back to the team instead of going home.
I want to go home with you.
Huo Tingxiao also stepped forward to help tidy up.
"Xiao Jun has almost finished tidying up for me, let's go home."
Wen Xingyue grasped his hand; the man's large, warm palm completely enveloped hers.
Normally, Wen Xingyue would not want to be near a man who was like a furnace.
But after being separated for more than two months, Wen Xingyue no longer disliked him.
"Okay, let's go home."
Huo Tingxiao took the small backpack from her hand and then picked up Huo Tingjun's schoolbag.
Huo Tingjun is in junior high school now, and his schoolbag is quite heavy.
Huo Tingjun followed beside the two of them.
"Tingxiao is back. Come on, let's get dinner ready."
When the three returned home, Huo's mother was about to go out to see if they had come back.
As the two children walked home, the adults were always worried.
Looking at Huo Tingxiao, joy flashed in Huo's mother's eyes.
"mom."
Huo Tingxiao called out.
"Hey, come quick, dinner's ready. Tell Sister Wang to make your favorite dishes."
Mrs. Huo happily agreed.
"Your arrival is just in time. If you had come even a day later, I would have missed your birthday. Tomorrow is your birthday. Are you celebrating at home, or are you taking everyone out to a restaurant?"
At the dinner table, Huo's mother asked.
Tomorrow is Huo Tingxiao's birthday; he'll be thirty.
Mrs. Huo felt a mix of emotions.
In the blink of an eye, the child has grown up so much.
"Let's treat everyone to a meal outside; it's too much trouble to eat at home."
Huo Tingxiao wasn't particularly enthusiastic about his birthday.
“Okay, I’ll book a restaurant first thing tomorrow morning.” Mrs. Huo nodded.
"Will you sleep at home tonight?" Mrs. Huo asked again.
"Mom, I just got back. I'm going home tonight and will come over later."
Huo Tingxiao removed the bones from the fish and placed it in Wen Xingyue's bowl.
Having just returned home, if it weren't for the Huo family, Huo Tingxiao wouldn't have needed Wen Xingyue to do anything herself.
"Eat more each month, you've been so busy lately, you've lost weight."
Mrs. Huo didn't insist that they didn't sleep at home. They were all young people, and Mrs. Huo didn't force them.
"Okay, Mom."
After having dinner at the Huo family's house, Huo Tingxiao took Wen Xingyue back to their own house.
The two strolled around outside to digest their food.
"You weren't injured during training, were you?"
Wen Xingyue held his hand and strolled slowly in the park, her eyes filled with concern.
"No, and even if you get injured, your ointment will help you heal quickly."
Huo Tingxiao's voice was clear and crisp.
"Um."
"Let's go home." Huo Tingxiao led her back.
"It's still early, I just finished eating." Wen Xingyue looked at the bright sky. It was summer, so it got dark late. It was still light at seven o'clock.
"Let's make something else to aid digestion." Huo Tingxiao looked down at her, his eyes smiling.
"...Huo Tingxiao, you are shameless."
The two had been married for several years, and Wen Xingyue was no longer the naive person she once was. How could she not understand what the man meant when he said those words?
