Chapter 88: Calling in Two Backers

"Wanjun, our little benefactors have arrived."

When facing his wife, Yan Mingsheng lowered his voice.

"Really? Quickly, bring them in."

Chen Wanjun spoke excitedly, propping herself up from the bed and looking outside.

“Tingxiao, Xingyue, let’s come in and sit down. Since we’re already here, there’s no need for us to bring anything. We should be the ones thanking you.”

Yan Mingsheng glanced helplessly at his restless wife, then invited Wen Xingyue and the others over. Seeing that Huo Tingxiao was carrying a lot of things, he quickly helped take them from him.

"Just a small token of my appreciation."

Huo Tingxiao's handsome face was gentle as he held Wen Xingyue's hand.

"My little benefactor!"

Chen Wanjun's eyes lit up when she saw Wen Xingyue, and she shouted excitedly.

"Greetings, Madam Yan."

Wen Xingyue called out to someone.

"Alright, alright, my little benefactor, come, come sit down. Thank you for making this trip. I'm fine, I'll be discharged soon. I should be thanking my little benefactor. How wonderful that my little benefactor has come to see me."

Chen Wanjun responded repeatedly. She propped herself up and bent down to pull up the stool next to the bed.

"I'll do it, I'll do it. You sit down and rest. You're only just starting to feel better, so don't do anything strenuous."

Yan Mingsheng put down his things, looked at Chen Wanjun, and gently patted her hand as she reached for the chair.

My wife had a brush with death yesterday, and she is not fully recovered yet; her face is still pale.

"Okay, come here, quick, wash some more fruit for our little benefactors, and take out all the cookies and snacks from the cupboard."

Chen Wanjun smiled, turned her head and quickly pointed to the bottom of the cabinet, asking Yan Mingsheng to take the things out.

Yesterday I asked Lingyue what my little benefactor liked, and quickly bought a bunch of things.

"Madam Yan, there's no need for such trouble."

Huo Tingxiao's voice was gentle.

"No trouble at all, no trouble at all. Come on, Tingxiao, sit down, sit down, my little benefactor. Aunt Yan's health isn't good, please bear with me."

Chen Wanjun shook her head. She leaned against the hospital bed, her eyes gentle, but she still looked a bit sickly.

Huo Tingxiao sat down by the bed with Wen Xingyue.

"My little benefactor, I'm so grateful to you for saving me yesterday..."

Chen Wanjun looked at Wen Xingyue, who was sitting obediently on the stool by the bed, with a smile in her eyes.

"No need to thank me, Madam Yan, it's good that you're alright."

Wen Xingyue's face was soft and smiling.

"It's alright, it's alright. I'm so grateful that you helped me in time yesterday, otherwise I probably wouldn't be alive today. Don't call me Madam Yan, if you don't mind, just call me Aunt Yan."

Chen Wanjun smiled gently, waved her hand, and looked at Wen Xingyue expectantly.

"Aunt Yan."

Wen Xingyue blinked and turned to look at Huo Tingxiao.

Huo Tingxiao did not expect Chen Wanjun to say such a thing. You should know that the Yan family does not easily make friends with others and has always maintained an independent attitude.

"Yes, Xingyue, call her Aunt Yan. Aunt Yan sounds so friendly, and we can visit each other more often in the future."

Yan Mingsheng brought in the washed fruit and happened to overhear the conversation.

Wen Xingyue glanced at Yan Mingsheng, then at the gentle-looking Chen Wanjun.

[This Uncle Yan and his wife are both good people. Their gentle and pure aura proves that they are good people who have never done anything bad, and they are destined to live to be a hundred years old.]

Huo Tingxiao looked at Yan Mingsheng and the others.

However, Yan Mingsheng and the others remained calm and showed no surprise, clearly unable to hear it. Huo Tingxiao breathed a sigh of relief.

“…Aunt Yan.” Wen Xingyue thought for a moment, then called out sweetly and gently.

She didn't know what her shout represented; to her, it was just a form of address.

"Hey, my little benefactor, your name is Xingyue, right? Aunt Yan will call you Yueyue, okay?"

Chen Wanjun's smile deepened. When good things happen, one's spirits are high. She snagged a sweet and soft bun, and it seemed that the sickly look on her face had dissipated.

The look of delight on Wen Xingyue's face was undisguised. "Yueyue, here's some washed fruit and snacks. I wonder what you like, Yueyue? Don't be shy, take whatever you want. Tingxiao, you too, don't be shy."

"Yes, yes, please eat whatever you like. Xingyue, please don't be shy. Make yourself at home with Uncle Yan and Aunt Yan."

Yan Mingsheng stood to the side, smiling, and handed the fruit plate from the bedside table to Wen Xingyue and the others.

His smile was warm and gentle, like a strange old man trying to kidnap a child.

Looking at Wen Xingyue made them happy. He and his wife didn't have a daughter, and Wen Xingyue perfectly fit the image of their daughter.

The more I look at it, the more I miss it.

When he visited the Huo family that morning, the little girl in front of him was still asleep. Yan Mingsheng had never met Wen Xingyue, but she had saved his wife, and Yan Mingsheng had always been grateful to her.

Now that I've met her, the little girl is sweet and gentle, with clear and innocent eyes that make people happy at first glance.

"Okay." Wen Xingyue didn't know the meaning of politeness and picked up a pomegranate with her hand.

The pomegranate had already split open; she could peel it and eat it.

Huo Tingxiao sat to one side, watching as his young wife won over the hearts of Yan Mingsheng and his wife with just a few words.

Little Peach Blossom Fairy had no idea that her shout had given her two powerful backers.

Yan Mingsheng is a secretary, and although Chen Wanjun is just a painter, her family has a long history of being famous merchants.

They donated all their assets to support the country when it was in trouble, and were not greatly affected even when there was turmoil later.

Looking at his wife now, he felt like he wanted to take her home with him.

Huo Tingxiao silently moved closer to her.

His young wife.

"It's delicious, would you like to try some?"

Sensing his approach, Wen Xingyue held the pomegranate and offered it to him.
