Chapter 157: Ambiguity Grows in the Haze

When they reached the shore, a small accident happened. The boat in front did not stop properly and accidentally hit Fu Baoer and his group's boat. Zhao Lingrou was already very thin, and after being shaken like this, she fell directly into the water.

Zhao Lingrou couldn't swim, and the lake water in early spring was still a little cold. She was afraid and uncomfortable, and a familiar pain came from her heart. At that moment, Zhao Lingrou thought she was going to die, just like the countless painful nights she had experienced before.

There were screams from the shore. The moment Zhao Lingrou fell into the water, Fu Baoer immediately jumped into the lake and pulled Zhao Lingrou to the surface. Zhao Lingrou hugged Fu Baoer's neck and coughed constantly.

This cough sounded much more real than usual, a thought came to Fu Baoer's mind.

"Stop scratching! How can I save you if you're like this?" Fu Bao'er dodged Zhao Lingrou's flailing arms and said, "Put your hands down. We'll be on the shore soon."

Zhao Lingrou was already panicking and could not hear Fu Baoer's words at all. She clung to Fu Baoer's lifeline with both her hands and feet. "Take me up quickly! My heart aches!"

Fu Baoer saw that her face was indeed a little blue, and thought to herself, "Oh no, I hope she doesn't get sick." But Zhao Lingrou was wrapped too tightly around her, and she was almost strangled to death. Shen Suizhi, who was on the shore, realized that something was wrong and quickly jumped into the water. The two of them worked together to lift Zhao Lingrou to the shore.

"I have medicine in my bag," Zhao Lingrou said, feeling uncomfortable. She didn't care about maintaining her image anymore. "Give it to me quickly!"

Wang Fang was the first to react. She quickly dug out Zhao Lingrou's medicine, which Zhao Lingrou swallowed directly. After a while, she felt much better. "...I'm fine, don't worry."

Han Jintang breathed a sigh of relief. If anything really happened, he, as the class monitor, would be to blame. The other students also wiped their cold sweats. It turned out that Zhao Lingrou was really sick. This was too scary.

Zhao Lingrou only now noticed that she was soaked through, with her shirt sticking to her body, which was really unsightly. Han Jintang quickly took off his coat and said, "Take mine on first, don't catch a cold."

"Where's Bao'er?" Fu Junlan suddenly remembered Fu Bao'er's desperate leap into the water just now, and she stood up in a panic to look around. "Oh my God, Bao'er is not still in the water."

Now everyone was in a panic again, especially Han Jintang. He rushed to the shore and saw Fu Baoer swimming happily in the water.

"Come up quickly, Bao'er! The water is so cold!" Everyone was relieved that Fu Bao'er was fine. Wang Fang waved her hand and said, "Come back quickly!"

Shen Suizhi had already reached the shore, dripping wet, and his tone revealed a bit of helplessness, "It's okay, she is a good swimmer, don't worry about her."

In fact, Fu Baoer could not help but swim a few more times only after seeing that Zhao Lingrou was fine. Now she had no reason to stay any longer, so she climbed up the river bank reluctantly. Shen then took off his coat and covered Fu Baoer with it.

She shouldn't have worn a dress today. It was soaked and stuck to her body, showing off Fu Baoer's graceful figure.

"Everyone, please send classmate Zhao home. It's best to take her to the hospital," Shen Suiyi wrapped Fu Baoer tightly, "Our home is not far from here. Go home and change clothes before going to school."

Seeing Zhao Lingrou like this, everyone lost interest in sightseeing and packed up their things to go home. Han Jintang subconsciously looked back at Fu Baoer. He always felt that he shouldn't let these two go, but what right did he have to stop them?

After Fu Baoer and the others had walked away, she blinked her big eyes and said, "Going to your house? But your house is not close to here!"

With wet eyes and water droplets hanging on the eyelashes, Shen then looked away: "The old house is nearby. It has been cleaned up and I planned to let my aunt go there to rest occasionally. There should be no one there now. Let's go over there to clean up."

The Shen family's old house is a courtyard house. They only regained ownership of it in recent years. The yard is not too big, but it is very quiet. It is a small square world. Every room has been renovated and cleaned, and is very clean.

Fu Baoer looked around and felt that Shen Xiuqi's taste was very much to her liking, elegant and charming, revealing a calm and majestic air everywhere.

"I'll go boil some water, you sit here for a while," Shen Suiyi took out a blanket, "put it on, it's still a little cold now."

Fu Baoer obediently wrapped herself in the blanket, leaving only her furry little head exposed. Shen then untied her braids for her. "There's still some waterweed tangled in it. Did you dive into the lake?"

Shen Sui's voice was very low, and Fu Baoer felt like a feather was sweeping across her heart, making her feel itchy. She began to feel uncomfortable: "Go and boil some water, I want to take a bath."

"Okay." Shen Suizhi wiped Fu Baoer's hair with a towel and went to the kitchen to boil water.

Although the old house was not big, it had a bathroom. Fu Baoer washed herself from head to toe. Although the lake water was refreshing to swim in, it was not very clean after all. After washing, Fu Baoer felt comfortable and changed into the clothes that Shen Sui brought. They looked like the clothes that her aunt had worn before, and they fit her perfectly.

When Fu Baoer came out, Shen Suizhi was lowering his head, not knowing what he was thinking about. The sunlight hit his face, and his facial features were clear and handsome.

"You go wash up," Fu Baoer felt that the atmosphere was a little awkward. She had never been alone with Shen Suizhi like this before. "I'm going to the yard to bask in the sun."

Shen then hummed softly, picked up his clothes and towel and went into the bathroom. Fu Baoer was lying in the rocking chair, drowsy in the sun. The afternoon sun was not strong, but it was bright enough that Fu Baoer could not open his eyes.

In a state of distress, Fu Baoer didn't know how long she had been lying there, and why Chen Suizhi took so long to wash. She rubbed her eyes and shouted towards the inner room, but no one answered. Fu Baoer touched her hair and found it was all dry. Hopefully, nothing would happen to Chen Suizhi, right?

Did he catch a cold from falling into the water? Did he have a fever? Did he faint?! Fu Baoer quickly stood up, the more she thought about it, the more she felt something was wrong. She walked to the bathroom door and found it was ajar, not closed tightly, and there was no sound of water inside.

Fu Baoer called Chen Suizhi's name and gently pushed open the bathroom door. The room was filled with mist and dim, and a figure appeared vaguely.

"Chen Suizhi, why don't you say anything..." Fu Baoer swallowed the rest of the words back into her stomach. Chen Suizhi was shirtless, with his hands on the sink, and he was looking into Fu Baoer's eyes through the foggy mirror.

Shen Suizhi had just finished taking a shower, and water was still dripping from the dark hair on his forehead. When he saw Fu Baoer come in, he straightened up by supporting himself on the table with one hand. A drop of water slid down his neck, flowed across his muscular chest, and dripped into his waist and abdomen before disappearing.

The atmosphere suddenly became ambiguous. Chen Suizhi's eyes were dark and flashing with ambiguous light. Fu Baoer was rarely flustered. She didn't dare to look directly at Chen Suizhi. Her hand was on the door handle, not knowing whether to go in or back out.
