Chapter 17: Happy New Year (2)

Zhaodi returned home in a daze, threw her little body into her grandmother's arms, and burst into tears.

Jiang Fengxia had noodles on her hands and couldn't wipe her granddaughter's tears. "What's wrong? You can't cry on New Year's Day!"

Zhaodi tried hard to hold back her tears, but she still sobbed.

Fubaoer babbled and used her mind to ask Heiwa what had happened. When she learned that it was because of school, she was instantly relieved. How could her grandparents not let her sisters go to school? They were very open-minded.

"Grandma, Fu Chengjie said that my father failed to hunt game, and my uncle refused to pay for my education. Will I never be able to go to school again?"

"Oh, so that's what it is," Jiang Fengxia said, no longer worried, and resumed pressing the dumpling wrappers. "You really took it seriously? With your parents' character, how could they let you go to school? They're just asking your uncle for money under the pretext of sending you to school!"

When Zhaodi heard this, she felt even more upset. It turned out that her grandmother also felt that she could not go to school.

Fu Manshan saw that his granddaughter was about to cry again, so he immediately stepped out and promised, "Don't worry, child. Your grandma has prepared the money. After the fifteenth day of the lunar month, when the school starts, I will send you to school!"

"Really...really, sir?" Zhaodi couldn't believe her ears.

Jiang Fengxia tapped Zhaodi's forehead, leaving a white fingerprint. "When have grandma and grandpa ever lied to you? I've already made your school bag."

"Ah! Grandma, you are so nice! Grandpa, you are so nice!" Zhaodi jumped up excitedly, gave Jiang Fengxia a big kiss, then ran to Fumanshan and kissed her grandfather's wrinkled face.

"Oh, girl," Fu Manshan wiped the saliva off his face, "but you have to promise grandpa and grandma to study hard, strive to get out of this Daqing Mountain, and never come back."

Zhaodi was puzzled. "Grandma and my sisters are here. How can Zhaodi not come back?"

She is still a child, Fu Manshan thought to himself, she will understand in the future.

Fu Baoer was quite surprised by his grandfather's idea. The old man was quite wise.

At lunchtime, Fu Manshan took two large bowls of dumplings, a small bottle of wine, carried Baoer on his back, and went to Chen's house.

Now the two families interact like relatives, and Fu Manshan is not polite to them. While waiting for Baoer to drink milk, he drinks with Chen Zhifang and Chen Youpeng in the outer room.

Thanks to the wild boar meat, the Chen family was able to make dumplings this year. They hadn't had a drink in a long time, and the three of them drank one glass after another, feeling a little tipsy.

After Bao'er had her fill, she fell asleep again in the arms of her godmother Song Fang. When she woke up again, she had returned home.

It was getting dark outside. Bao'er was in the inner room listening to the laughter outside. She felt extremely peaceful in her heart. In her previous life, she was alone every day and never knew that the fireworks of the world could be so intoxicating.

Jiang Fengxia was busy cooking most of the day today.

The New Year’s Eve dinner was very sumptuous. There were only two adults, two children and a baby in the family, but Jiang Fengxia actually cooked a whole table full of dishes.

Steamed grass carp, fried river shrimp, braised eel, stir-fried beef with celery, donkey meat with dipping sauce, cabbage and vermicelli meatballs, stir-fried shredded potatoes, eggplant stew...

Zhaodi looked at the pot of food brought out by her grandparents and her saliva flowed onto her clothes.

This is too much. Can you finish it?

Fu Manshan took Bao'er out and put her on the crib. Seeing her greedy look, he couldn't help but laugh, "My dear, wait a few more months and you'll be able to eat it!"

Fu Manshan loves this little granddaughter very much. She doesn't cry or make a fuss, and she loves to laugh. She will definitely be a smart girl when she grows up.

Fu Baoer felt sad. He looked at Heiwa and then both looked away.

One can't eat, and the other can eat but doesn't dare to rush over to eat. These two people who have made the greatest contribution to the family are really brothers in distress.

Fu Manshan poured a glass of wine for his wife and said, "You should drink some too. This wine is not spicy and very fragrant."

Jiang Guixiang picked up the wine glass and took a sip. "It's delicious! It has a sweet osmanthus fragrance!"

It is indeed a wine brewed by gods. Wouldn’t drinking it make you live a hundred years longer?

If Fu Baoer knew what her grandma was thinking, she would definitely say, Grandma, you are telling the truth!

Zhaodi and Pandi also tasted a sip of osmanthus wine, but they couldn't enjoy the taste, so they decided to eat the food instead!

"Oh, old man, I never dreamed that I could have such a New Year's Eve dinner in my life." Jiang Fengxia suddenly felt a little sad. When they lived in the old house, even during the New Year, it was not their turn to eat meat.

Fu Manshan finally came to terms with it and consoled his wife: "Why think about this? We've suffered for half our lives, and even God can't stand it any longer. You shouldn't complain. We have food, meat, and wine, and we have three granddaughters to keep us company. It's worth it."

"Hey, you're right!" Jiang Fengxia wiped away her tears, stopped thinking about the unhappy things, and concentrated on eating.

The few of them ate slowly, drinking while eating. Zhaodi made her grandparents laugh from time to time. Pandi was also innocent and cute. Fubaoer was babbling beside them, and Heiwa responded with a bark from time to time.

Everyone is having a great time.

However, there are always annoying people who come to cause trouble.

Heiwa was the first to rush out and blocked the gate, preventing Li Ying from coming in.

This time, Li Ying was not arrogant. Instead, she sat at the door holding her little son and crying, glancing inside from time to time.

"Dad, Mom, you can't be so cruel!" Li Ying hugged her son, and she felt really bad when she thought of her husband lying on the bed. "I'm wrong in every way, but Tianming is still your biological son, right? Chengcai is still your biological grandson, right? You can't just ignore them!"

Jiang Fengxia and Fu Manshan came out and looked at the sullen Li Ying with frowns.
