Chapter 6 The Old Man Enters the City

Early in the morning, Fumanshan carried a bag of rice and a bag of millet from his home, took the pork ribs, hid the little money the old couple had saved, and went to the city while it was still dark.

As for the small piece of gold, they decided to hide it. After all, they were not out of ammunition and food yet. Besides, if it was discovered, they would be in big trouble.

After entering the city, Fu Manshan didn't dare to walk around randomly. He could only follow his memory and find the location of the black market he had heard others talk about. He squatted in the corner and waited patiently. He had heard young people in the village say before that whether you can buy things in this black market depends on luck.

But it was obvious that Fu Manshan was lucky today. Not long after he waited, a young man in inconspicuous clothes came over mysteriously.

"Uncle, are you buying or selling something?"

"What's this about you?" Fu Manshan asked instead of answering.

Zhang Jianguo knew the other party was on guard, but he didn't mind. "I only have cloth here. I want to exchange it for some food or money. Do you have any?"

Fu Manshan's eyes lit up. Cloth is a good thing, you can't buy it without a ticket. Besides, the family really needs to change their clothes. When Baoer grows up, they will also need to prepare for it. Anyway, they have enough food now, so they might as well take it all.

"How many feet do you have?"

"About thirty feet. If you save some, it will be enough to make three sets of clothes."

Fu Manshan thought for a moment and decided that the thirty feet of cloth would be enough for him, his wife, and Bao'er, with plenty left over. "I'll take it all! Look at all this rice and millet, almost twenty pounds in total. Is that enough? If not, I can get something else to compensate."

Zhang Jianguo knew that he was safe, but he didn't expect that this old man looked insignificant but had a big appetite.

"Uncle, I can only give you fifteen feet of cloth for all this food." Zhang Jianguo thought for a moment and felt that the rice and millet the other party had were of good quality. "For the rest, you can give me another three dollars and fifty cents, okay?"

Fu Manshan knew that things on the black market would definitely not be cheap, but he didn't expect them to be so expensive. He and Jiang Fengxia had worked hard all their lives, and when they moved out, most of their things had been robbed, and now they only had ten dollars in their hands.

"How about you take another look at my meat?" Fu Manshan moved the rice and straw away, revealing the ribs weighing about eight pounds.

Zhang Jianguo was shocked, "Uncle, why didn't you take out this good stuff earlier?"

"This piece of spareribs is worth about seven dollars, right?" Fu Manshan asked tentatively.

Zhang Jianguo wanted to lower the price. Fatty meat is much more valuable than lean meat now. If his wife didn't dislike fatty meat, he would definitely not spend money to buy ribs. But seeing the thin and dark appearance of the old man in front of him, he couldn't bear to cheat him.

"Uncle, how about this? Give me this piece of pork ribs, and I'll give you my thirty feet of cloth. As for the remaining food..." Zhang Jianguo glanced at Fu Manshan's tattered clothes, "If you don't mind, I have some old cotton-padded jackets at home..."

Fu Manshan doesn't despise it, how could he despise it!

Zhang Jianguo brought Fu Manshan back home and told everyone he met that they were relatives from the countryside. In those days, it was normal for poor relatives to come to the door to ask for money, so no one suspected them.

There are five people in the Zhang family, including Zhang's parents, Zhang Jianguo and his wife, and their children.

Zhang Jianguo and his wife took over their parents' shifts. Today is Sunday and the whole family is at home. When they saw someone coming, they all came out.

Fu Manshan took out the meat and rice and asked them to check.

"Oh, brother, this thing is really good," Zhang's father was very satisfied, "It's such a big piece of meat."

Zhang Jianguo brought out all the cloth. Thirty feet of cloth, he tied it into two bundles. "Mom, go get the old clothes you collected some time ago."

When Zhang's mother heard this, she quickly took out two old cotton-padded jackets and a pair of cotton pants. "Don't be disgusted, big brother. Although they are a bit old, they are still quite warm to wear."

Fu Manshan was not very satisfied. His cotton-padded jacket and trousers were not very thick. "These 20 kilograms of food I have are of good quality. Can you give me some more?"

The Zhang family discussed it and took out an old pot and some plates and bowls. Iron pots were rare these days, and if Zhang Jianguo hadn't worked in a pot factory, they really wouldn't have been willing to give it to him.

Fu Manshan was finally satisfied. The shabby iron pot at home could only be used barely. Although Zhang's pot was not big, it was enough.

After the transaction was completed, Fu Manshan went back. The main reason he came out this time was to find a reasonable source for the things in his home, and the rest was just by the way.

.

At this moment in the Fu family, Fu Baoer had just finished drinking milk and was lying in Song Fang's arms, making her laugh.

This was the scene that Fu Baoer's biological mother Li Ying saw when she walked in. She curled her lips, not expecting that this dead girl would be so lucky.

"Song Fang, you would rather starve your own child than raise someone else's." Li Ying was holding her two-year-old son Fu Chengcai, followed by her other two daughters, five-year-old Fu Zhaodi and three-year-old Fu Pandi.

Jiang Fengxia rolled her eyes and ignored him.

"Sister-in-law, you're joking. Daya can eat some soup now. She won't starve." Song Fang didn't like Li Ying either, and replied without raising her head.

Li Ying looked around the room. It was still as shabby as before, except that there was no ventilation. "Mom, let Zhaodi and Pandi stay with you for a few days. I really can't take care of them."

"I don't have anything here. I'm afraid they'll starve. You should take it back."

"We haven't split up yet. Logically, we should all come to your place for dinner. We have already saved you a lot of trouble!" Li Ying said as a matter of course, not feeling that there was anything wrong with what she said.

Song Fang chuckled, but after all, it was someone else's family affair, so she didn't say anything. Fu Baoer in her arms turned around and looked over. She was really surprised that there were such shameless people in the world, and this person was her nominal mother.
