Chapter 26 Zhuang Li: System, you lose.

After getting the experimental equipment, Zhuang Li did nothing else but concentrate on detecting his own brain waves. He also edited a software specifically for storing and analyzing the changing patterns of these brain waves.

Xuan Ming visited Curly every day, hoping he would make a breakthrough. But as time passed, no surprises came, and Curly grew weaker and weaker.

His face became haggard at a speed visible to the naked eye, and the two dark circles under his eyes seemed to have been stained into his skin, revealing a heavy air of desolation.

He even started losing his hair in clumps, which is a precursor to kidney failure. If there is a problem with the kidneys, the entire physiological function will be damaged.

Once in a while, Xuan Ming came out of the elevator and happened to see the cleaner kneeling on the ground, collecting her hair. She gathered the slightly curly hair in her hands and kneaded it into a ball, the size of a palm, which made Xuan Ming feel terrified.

He realized in a panic that Curly didn't have much time left, and every word the system had threatened him with was true. If he couldn't find a solution, he would die!

Xuan Ming controlled the wheelchair and hurried into the laboratory, but saw the little curly-haired boy standing quietly with his hands on the table and his head lowered.

Drops of blood trickled down his nose into the trash can below, dripping, dripping... like raindrops falling. He was hurt by the noise again, this had become a normal thing.

Xuan Ming increased the speed of sliding his wheelchair, his face terribly gloomy.

7480's shouting also came at the same time: "Host, have I touched your limit now? Eh? I felt something hard, like a piece of the ceiling!"

Zhuang Li chose to remain silent.

7480 grinned and said, "Host, I just checked your body. You can't hold on any longer. Your kidneys and heart are failing to varying degrees. You'll die soon."

Zhuang Li casually pulled out a tissue and slowly wiped the tip of his nose. When he looked up, his face showed no fear or cowardice, but instead a calm and composed smile. He never took the system's threats seriously.

Xuan Ming finally came to his side, held his bloody hand tightly, and said in a dry voice: "I have something to tell you." He was determined to persuade Little Curly to agree to the system's request today, even if it would expose the secret that he most wanted the system to know.

But before he could say anything, the computer on the desk suddenly began to beep rapidly, and then the screen turned red. This was a dangerous signal.

Xuan Ming was startled, but Zhuang Li immediately shook off his hand, walked quickly to the computer, and looked at it carefully.

Waveforms appeared on the computer screen, changing shape several times every second, so fast that it looked like a chaotic mass of interlaced shadows. These were the brain waves caused by the noise that Zhuang Li had measured in recent days.

The data was so numerous and complex that he had no idea what it was. Xuan Ming just stared at the screen for a while before his eyes got blurry.

Zhuang Li's hands danced rapidly, typing one command after another into the computer window. As the commands ran, the waveforms shifted slower and slower. The peaks and troughs marked with red dots seemed to form a certain pattern, eventually forming a completely new waveform, fixed on the screen.

Xuan Ming didn't know what this picture represented, but 7480 screamed in panic: "Host, you are analyzing my mental power!"

Zhuang Li curled the corners of his lips slightly, then turned on a machine and slowly debugged various functions and data.

7480 quickly regained his composure and said contemptuously, "I know what you're up to! You're trying to extract my mental fluctuations from these brain waves, and then use these sensors to slowly simulate them in order to gain access to my administrative backend, right?"

Zhuang Li was concentrating on fiddling with the experimental equipment and didn't say a word.

Xuan Ming understood. If the system is compared to a computer, and they are indeed a type of computer, then accessing their management backend requires a password.

This code isn't a string of numbers, but a wave of mental power. The system's ability to forcibly integrate into the host's consciousness relies on this powerful mental suppression.

Then, thinking in reverse, we can come to a conclusion - if the parasitic host masters the same mental fluctuations, can it also dominate the system?

Curly had been busy for so many days just for this. He knew exactly what he wanted and how to achieve it from the very beginning.

He first separated the system's mental power patterns from the hundreds of thousands of noise patterns, then used brainwave sensing equipment and meditation to slowly align his brainwaves with the system's mental power. In this way, he could successfully enter the system's management program.

This brainwave simulation technology is not new. Hawking, who was completely paralyzed, used it to write "A Brief History of Time."

He created a specific brain wave pattern for each letter of the English alphabet and stored it in a computer. When he simulated these patterns in his mind, the computer would immediately recognize the corresponding letters and form words.

This is a rudimentary application of sensory technology to connect to the outside world, yet it can be used to counter such a highly technological system? What's going on with Curly's head?

Xuan Ming let out a long sigh, and when his tense nerves relaxed a little, he realized that he was sweating profusely.

7480 yelled in frustration, "Host, you are so despicable! If you insist on doing this, I will have to kill you immediately!"

It was about to launch a final attack, but suddenly became complacent: "Host, you are so stupid! Have you forgotten that I am still in your mind? I can interfere with your meditation and make it impossible for you to simulate this image in your lifetime!"

Zhuang Li still said nothing.

Xuan Ming, however, was worried. Yes, the system was still in Curly's mind, and it could disrupt his meditation at any time. This was a dead end.

"Host, if we were playing Go, you'd have already lost before you even started, and you'd have lost miserably," 7480 declared triumphantly. So happy was it that it even lowered the decibels of its noise.

Over the past few days, it has gradually become addicted to the feeling of torturing its host and is no longer in a hurry to kill it.

Zhuang Li placed an electromagnetic coil directly above his head and finally broke the silence: "System, you are parasitic on my left brain, right?"

Although 7480 was boasting, it also carefully chose to keep its mouth shut. Having suffered at the hands of its host, it would never casually reveal its secrets.

Zhuang Li chuckled and said, "You must be in my left brain. Because I'm right-handed, my left brain has the ability to output language. My commands are transmitted from my left brain through the corpus callosum to my right brain, and then executed by my body. My left brain occupies an absolutely dominant position."

7480 snorted coldly, "So what?"

The host is terrifyingly smart, so it has nothing to hide.

Zhuang Li sat beneath the electromagnetic coil, his tone full of interest. "System, the technology of this world has indeed lagged behind yours, so your arrogance has prevented you from even bothering to understand it. You probably don't know what this machine does, do you?"

7480 said nonchalantly, "It's just an old, outdated, and useless brainwave sensor."

Xuan Ming looked at the machine carefully, but he also had no idea what it did.

Zhuang Li beckoned over several assistants to debug the machine. He then sat upright beneath the electromagnetic coil, fastened his seatbelt, and slowly explained, "It's called a transcranial magnetic stimulator, or TMS. In addition to magnetic and electrical therapy, it can also simulate brainwave signals to induce virtual damage to a tiny area of the brain."

"This damage is temporary and can disable a certain area of the brain. Now, I just use it to stimulate my corpus callosum, which can temporarily disconnect my left brain from my right brain."

Zhuang Li closed his eyes and said something in a nonchalant tone that could infuriate the system: "You should know that both the left and right brains of humans are capable of independent thinking, like two different souls housed in one body. However, the right brain of most people is incapable of verbal output, so it is often silent."

"When I abandon my left brain and think completely with my right brain, can you still interfere with me?" Zhuang Li asked with a smile.

7480 didn't say anything for a long time, but the sudden agitated crackling sound completely exposed its frustration and panic.

Xuan Ming was stunned, then couldn't help but raise the corner of his mouth. He had thought that Curly's move was completely wrong, but he hadn't expected that he would have a solution to the situation long ago.

Even if the system guessed his entire plan, what would it do? Besides screaming in his left brain, it could do nothing. This counterattack was truly clean and neat!

During the conversation, several assistants had already debugged the machine and connected the power.

Just as the 7480 was about to reach maximum decibels, poised to strike the host dead, it was suddenly struck by an external electrical current, losing its initiative. With the host's brain function momentarily disrupted, the 7480's operation ground to a halt. In other words, it was disconnected.

After a long time, several assistants turned off the machine, removed the electromagnetic coil for Zhuang Li, and handed him a cup of warm water.

Zhuang Li closed his eyes and drank the water slowly.

7480 made a constant buzzing sound, as if checking the connection between its left and right brains. It didn't roar with triumph, nor did it chuckle eerily. It was clear that Zhuang Li's experiment was a complete success.

Xuan Ming was so nervous that his palms were sweating.

After drinking the water, Zhuang Li rubbed his eyebrows again, and then attached the electrodes to the temples, temples, and sides of his neck on the right side of his brain.

Xuan Ming asked in a hoarse voice, "Mr. Zhuang, are you okay?"

Zhuang Li waved his hands silently.

An assistant explained in a low voice: "Mr. Xuan, Mr. Zhuang's left and right brains have been disconnected, so he can't speak now."

"How long will he last in this state?" Xuan Ming was full of worry.

"I don't know. This is the first time we've done this kind of experiment, so we don't have any specific data yet."

“Will there be any sequelae?”

"Theoretically, it's possible."

"What will happen to Curly?"

The assistant was stunned for a moment before realizing who Curly was referring to. He lowered his voice and said, "If Mr. Zhuang's left and right hemispheres can't reconnect successfully, he will suffer from split-brain syndrome. Split-brain syndrome is somewhat similar to schizophrenia and will definitely have a significant impact on life. Because the left and right hemispheres each have the ability to think independently, they will compete for control of the body, causing people to behave inconsistently. For example, if you ask him to get a water cup, he will hand you a towel; if you ask him to pick a picture of a woman, he will point to a picture of a child. There are two souls waging war in his brain."

"Can this disease be cured?"

"I haven't heard of any cases of cure yet." The assistant sighed and shook his head.

Xuan Ming waved his hand, not asking any more questions. Unbeknownst to him, his hand had clenched tightly around a metal cigarette case. He took out a cigar but didn't dare light it. He simply held it between his teeth, biting it hard.

Compared to Lavoisier who cut off his own head, Curly's madness is no less.

If Xuan Ming had known how dangerous this experiment was, he would never have sat on the sidelines and watched. But the experiment was already completed, and it was too late to say anything now. He could only pray that Curly was safe.

Under Xuan Ming's watchful eye, Zhuang Li connected his right brain to an electroencephalogram (EEG) device. This machine can sense the human brain's willpower, or mental fluctuations, and generate corresponding waveforms on a screen.

What Zhuang Li has to do is to develop a program called biofeedback, using meditation to learn to control his own waveform so that it completely overlaps with the system's mental power.

This wasn't a difficult task for him, who possessed a strong will. After a short while of training, the screen connected to his right brain gradually began to display a stable waveform.

Zhuang Li constantly adjusted the positions of the peaks and troughs so that they corresponded one by one to the system's mental power graphs.

7480 panicked, constantly making noises and screaming in the host's left brain, but it was unable to stop the process. Mental power was its DNA, and it was impossible to change it easily.

Finally, his brainwaves completely overlapped with the system's mental pattern. Zhuang Li chuckled softly and repeated 7480's words: "System, if we were playing chess, you'd have already lost before you even started, and you'd have lost miserably."

7480: “…”

Xuan Ming: My little curly-haired girl is so awesome!
