Chapter 501: A New Family

Yuanjun stared at the ringing phone in his hand for a while and the ringing stopped by itself. He silenced his phone and placed it to the side and walked up to the balcony in deep thoughts.

That land and that tomb should not be disturbed. But Zhong Yanchen who is ambitious, will not let such a historic find go unnoticed and would try using any means to get a hold of it. He does have the Huang family and the Zhong family by his side and it would be hard to fight them for the rest of their lives. Their Lu family is filthy rich and his eldest brother does hold some power but the most power is with the military family.

And if Yanchen leaks this information, an entire community of historians would urge the government to take action and the Lu family could do nothing then.

Yanchen must be given something to shut him up for life.

By the time he had arrived to a decision about what to do to regarding his friend, he already had three missed calls from Huang Qian and he sighed. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

It took her two weeks to realise her husband is missing?

A couple of minutes after, he saw Li Xueman’s phone vibrating and thinking it must be important he picked up to give it to her but he was surprised to see it was Huang Qian calling her.

She really is desperate!

He walked to the closet and was about to knock when the door opened and Xueman came out. With the white sweater, she looked pure like a lotus.

Kissing her forehead, he handed over the phone to her as it rang again.

After small talk, it seemed like both of them were talking about him as Xueman looked at Yanchen questioningly.

"You sure Lu Yuanjun kidnapped your husband...?"

Xueman was trying to be calm as she couldn’t believe it but seeing his calm expression, she knew it to be true. Also Huang Qian is a cop who must have investigated properly before making such egregious accusation.

Yuanjun held out his hand urging Xueman to hand him her phone and she obliged, rather confused.

Those two are as thick as thieves as long as she remembered. What made him to confine his friend?

"Huang Qian, meet me by the South Park at four in the evening. I’ll take you to your husband. It will go well only if you don’t involve your family," his voice was calm and smooth but it was mixed with the regal authority he used to hold and not that of a soft-spoken professor that made anyone fear for what he might do if his words are disobeyed.

" Brother Yuanjun?" she was glad she could hear it from him, "Okay, I’ll keep it a secret, I swear. It’s just, my parents called us for dinner and... Wait... I called big sister Xueman! If you are with her this early in the morning then... AHHHH!... BROTHER YUANJUN DON’T TELL ME, YOU... AND HER... AHHH!... "

Yuanjun couldn’t hear anymore of her excited shrieks and passed the phone back to Xueman who got the phone and he enjoyed her face blushing red, trying to explain Huang Qian about their relationship.

He didn’t like that she told that he is her boyfriend though. He has already proposed to her and shouldn’t he be her husband? Well, technically he is her fiance... But isn’t there a popular saying that ’fiance is half-spouse’ or something?

’I mean, we already did consummate, right? Eh! Whatever! I’ll make sure the entire country knows she is my wife soon!’

Li Xueman offered to prepare breakfast for the both of them but he brought her to the fence, surprising her more. The exact place where there used to be a hole in the fence, now had a small gate that lead to the home of the Lu Family.

"We can use the gate from now on," he smiled and she bit her lips, cutely making him kiss her once more.

As both of them entered the house, they were welcomed by... Everyone.

"Should have closed the window in that room or your room where the telescope is focused right where you were going to be... ," his third brother smiled like a noble and Yuanjun held back his urge to punch him in the face.

"Someone was talking about decency some days ago..." his second brother joined in.

And so the teasing went on as they were eating breakfast and Yuanjun pretended to be deaf and maintained his cool. From his years of experience, there is now way he could beat his three brothers once they stand united and so he let them be.

And as expected, having no reaction from him destroyed their enthusiasm to tease him and they soon got silent. Also it was pretty fun for him to watch Xueman getting red out of embarrassment. His brothers didn’t tease her mostly but she really couldn’t help but get shy by their words. Yuanjun let his brothers do whatever trey want, since Xueman should know how her future life is going to be, especially the family get-together will always follow this trope. Also he knew his brothers won’t cross the limit and them being their own selves means they had accepted her into the family.

As he was watching, Xueman started to reply back to his brothers and got extremely lively like she used to be in the past. The well-bred lady was gone and the tomboy popped out.

"There she is... Our Dogkey" the third brother laughed and everyone else joined him.

"Stop it!" Xueman was mad. How could they bring up the past now?

"Donkey.. ?" the third Sister-in-law questioned. This is the first time she heard of this!

"No, no... Dog-key! She is a chimera of dog and monkey and so Dog-key," the second brother explained.

"She used to climb on trees better than monkeys and would bite us if she gets mad, like a dog. All of us had got bitten by her and even took a shot at least once..." the first brother continued.

"Come to think of it... Only fourth wasn’t bitten by her..." the third brother had a sly smile.

"Oh, I bet she broke that record last night," the first Sister-in-law pointed at the slight bite mark visible through Yuanjun’s unbuttoned shirt collar and winked.

"Well, I’m not complaining," Yuanjun smirked ambiguously.

Li Xueman really couldn’t handle those brazen people anymore. They all grew up together and she know how those brothers are like but she never would have imagined they’d find wives as brazen as them too.

Can’t they be a bit more respectful since the elders are here?

Lu Xueman really couldn’t say anything back and buried her chin in her chest while her entire face, neck and ears got red.

"Alright, enough! Fourth finally got himself a girlfriend and I don’t want you brats to scare her off," Lu Kong spoke firmly and the brothers shut up immediately. They didn’t want to disobey their father. Its always like this in their home. They can act however they want and only their father will be able to stop them from going overboard.

" I already proposed and she accepted," Yuanjun told his father and held her hand and showed them the ring.

"Really? This soon?" the third Sister-in-law looked a bit shocked and everyone looked at her confused.

" Ah, don’t get me wrong! I’m happy for little fourth. In fact I’m ecstatic! It’s that... I may have the baby anytime soon and it seems like they’ll decide to marry next week by the speed everything is progressing, then... I won’t be able to design little sister’s wedding gown..."

Everyone started to laugh and she now became the target for roasting.

" Come on! I want to design her wedding gown!" the third Sister-in-law pouted.

" Yeah, we know where to shop for jewellery and shoes. We’ll take you with us.... When will you be free...?", the first daughter-in-law continued and was joined by the excited second daughter-in-law and Li Xueman didn’t know how to answer them who were bombarding her with questions, excitedly. She felt like crying seeing the love received by the Lu family. It was the same before when she was of equal status to them and it still haven’t reduced a single notch but has only increased tenfold now that she is going to be their daughter-in-law,even though she does not have much now.

’But how am I going to arrange for the wedding...? I know how much a design by her would cost. Will I be able to afford it? And other stuff... They are the Lu family. How would I be able to manage to arrange my wedding so that they won’t be embarrassed?’

A little fear bloomed in her heart but soon she composed herself so that she won’t look sad. But her moment of sadness was noticed by Yuanjun and his mother Tang Weihua.

"A lot of work should be done to arrange a wedding. It won’t happen in a week. Rest assured. And I will be the one arranging the wedding, since Manman is my daughter and you all can only give suggestions," Tang Weihua assured her third daughter-in-law and the others. She knew her third daughter-in-law worries too much, unnecessarily. This kind of stress is not good especially when she is about to give birth. It is not good for her and also the baby.

She looked at Li Xueman who looked at her perplexed and nodded with an assuring smile. Tang Weihua had already decided to talk with Li Xueman privately. Her other daughters-in-law grew up in luxury and they won’t understand the value of money. Out of excitement, they are not considering the bind Manman must be in. But this is going to be the last wedding for a while in the Lu family and since his son decided to take in a wife she liked too, she decided to make the wedding as grand as it can be. Manman’s father was like a brother to her and she won’t lose anything by spending a little for her wedding.

After their talk with Tang Weihua, Lu Yuanjun offered to drop Lu Xueman in her office and in the car there was a pleasant silence.

"Your mother is amazing," Li Xueman said as she looked at the jade bracelet in her hand that was given by Tang Weihua. She also said a lot of kind words and requested her to allow her to arrange the wedding and assured her that she has no need to spend anything for the wedding since she wanted to arrange a wedding for a daughter since she doesn’t have one.

It was not out of pity or fear of embarrassment of her family but his mother really asked that if her out of love and Xueman had no way other than to accept her request. She is the lady of one of the biggest aristocratic family and she actually respected her.

It is amazing!

Xueman felt like she had found a new family filled with love and affection like she used to get from her father.

"Yes, she is, isn’t she?" Yuanjun smiled. His mother is the best mother one could ever imagine. She loved them all so much and protected them well and taught them well.

He always was amazed by the love between his parents too. He knew how most of the parents of his friends who had their marriage arranged. Most of them just stayed together just for the sake of their families. But his parents, they truly loved each other,deeply. He now knows the reason. They were separated in their last life and they were given this new chance of a life by their daughter from their previous life and they utilised it to their full extent and lived harmoniously, raising their children well. His mother is really Mingxia’s mother. He remembered how much Mingxia loved her mother and the stories she told about her mother. She really is the same now too.

’I’m lucky to have her as my mother this life!’

As he parked his car in front of her office, he felt like they were being followed and looked around but he couldn’t find anyone suspicious.

"I found their tomb, Manman," he looked at her and she looked at him for a minute before getting what he meant.

"Mingxia’s?"

She was excited. He remembered the past and that’s why he asked about that beachside property? And he found it?

"How? I’ve been trying to locate it for the past five years. I knew it was in that separate cliff but I could never find any clues as to where."

"I just... Found it," he replied as he pondered over it.

So she couldn’t find it? So, In the end, it seems like both of them wanted me to find it.

"There are people trying to buy it, Yuanjun. Even the partners in our company all see it as a wasted opportunity to not develop that land. And..."

"Don’t worry, Manman," he patted her head, "I know a way. Don’t give in to them till then. And I’ll bring you to visit the tomb. You’ll be amazed. If you are free, come with Huang Qian this evening," he added.

"This evening.... I have to check the accounts... I can’t," she pursed her lips dejected.

"By the way, Zhong Yanchen... He is safe, right?" she questioned. It is a questionable behaviour on his part.

"Yeah, he is... He found out about the tomb, so I had to resort to this means... But, I’ve found a way," he smiled explaining her doubts and she nodded understanding him. She trusted him.

" You’ll search for me immediately if I go missing, right?" he asked. He still could not believe it took Yanchen’s wife two weeks to search for her husband.

Xueman could understand what he is asking.

"I will, dear husband" she pinched him slightly in the cheek.

"Husband? I like it," he got super excited and got to kiss her.

"Come on, not here," she pushed him away.

"By the way, Zhong Yanchen thinks Huang Qian is in love with you and that’s their misunderstanding," she said as she unfastened her seat belt and unlocked the door.

"What?" Yuanjun was surprised, "However did he arrive to that conclusion?" he held her hand before she slipped out.

He had known Huang Qian for long and never once he thought that she was in love with him. And after he changed schools, they rarely met.

"Who knows? Probably the same way you concluded that I was in love with your third brother. Guess men really are stupid!" she chuckled and got out and ran, as she crossed the road and got to her office.

"Well, I was stupid," he admitted. Maybe I should clear up that misunderstanding.

What he didn’t know was some paparazzi taking pictures of Li Xueman. This picture along with some other pictures that were taken during the past times when Lu Yuanjun picked her up were uploaded into the Internet. Soon the Internet was filled with rumours that the daughter of Li family resorted to selling herself to be able to save her company and how her dater would be rolling in the grave knowing his daughter’s behaviour. There were even some comments about her mother and how she had followed her mother too.

Not knowing of the way Li Xueman was being chewed up in the Internet, Yuanjun bought himself a map of the city and got himself busy.

As Li Xueman was wondering why the stock prices of her company going down, she received a call from her mother that she had received an invitation to have tea with Mrs. Lu. Xueman could guess that Yuanjun’s mother is going to ask for her hand to her mother since she is the elder in her home but she felt something strange in the bottom of her heart.

So she asked the place they are meeting and immediately went there.

While this was gong on, no one knew of the vile plan hatched by Gao Weiye to destroy Li Xueman.
