Chapter 160 Mystery: Don't Get Yourself into Trouble

Qiu Shuang'er was sitting in the courtyard drinking tea. She slowly put down her teacup, picked up a round fan, and leisurely fanned herself, exuding languor. Looking up, she couldn't help but yawn, appearing listless.

Beside him was a cradle, and two maids stood on either side of the cradle, gently fanning it with palm-leaf fans.

Shen Yu strode over and bowed to Qiu Shuang'er, "Greetings, Princess Yan. I heard that Kang'er was kidnapped by villains the night before last, so I came to visit."

After saying that, she placed the "little tiger" in Kang'er's cradle, pretending to tease Kang'er, but secretly glancing at Qiu Shuang'er's shoes. The shoes were spotless, as if they hadn't been out.

Looking up, Qiu Shuang'er looked over with listless eyes, yawning and covering her mouth, and slowly said, "Perhaps it's because of the hot weather, I just can't seem to get my spirits up. I've been yawning constantly these past few days."

Shen Yu hurriedly walked up to Qiu Shuang'er and volunteered, "Let me take the pulse of Princess Yan and prescribe some medicine to help you recover."

Qiu Shuang'er nodded slowly and pointed to the stone bench opposite her, saying, "Sit down."

Instead of sitting opposite Qiu Shuang'er, Chen Yu sat beside her and smelled the faint fragrance of jasmine.

As she took Qiu Shuang'er's pulse, she secretly glanced at the ground. Unfortunately, the ground was paved with red bricks, so no footprints would be left.

Today, she visited the Yan Prince's Mansion to obtain Qiu Shuang'er's footprints and hair, in order to verify whether Qiu Shuang'er had wiped out Zhang Manguan's family.

She secretly glanced at Qiu Shuang'er's clothes again, looking for any stray hairs. Unfortunately, Qiu Shuang'er's hair was neatly styled, and not a single strand was missing!

But it wasn't a complete waste of time; at least she got a clear look at Qiu Shuang'er's hair—a dark silver color, slightly thinner than usual. Yesterday, that strand of hair was thicker and jet black.

Shen Yu wondered, could it be that Qiu Shuang'er wasn't the real culprit? No, perhaps that strand of hair was brought to the Zhang residence by the songstress from elsewhere.

At this moment, Qiu Shuang'er shook her hand, "Miss Chenyu, what's wrong with me?"

Shen Yu quickly calmed down and took the pulse. It was a pregnancy pulse! She was shocked and looked at Qiu Shuang'er.

Qiu Shuang'er was alarmed and hurriedly asked, "Where did the problem go wrong?"

Shen Yu said in a deep voice, "It's a pregnancy test."

Qiu Shuang'er opened her mouth in shock, stunned for a moment, then quickly stood up and exclaimed in delight, "I'm pregnant? Ah! I must go tell Prince Yan!" With that, Qiu Shuang'er beamed with joy and hurriedly left.

Chen Yu returned to Kang'er's cradle and held Kang'er in her arms. To be honest, Kang'er had grown quite a bit and gained a few pounds, which suggested that Qiu Shuang'er had treated Kang'er well.

So what? Qiu Shuang'er kidnapped An'er and Ping'er before, trying to blackmail her. Fortunately, Prince Jing intervened and got the children back. After this, there's no guarantee that Qiu Shuang'er won't try to harm her and the children again.

To ensure peace and security, she must prove that Qiu Shuang'er killed Zhang Manguan's family.

She carried Kang'er to the depths of the garden, deliberately finding a place with soft soil before stopping.

Looking up, she saw that the garden was full of balsam flowers. She strolled around with Kang'er in her arms, searching for the peony-red balsam flowers.

The two maids were filled with unease and spoke timidly, "Miss Chenyu, Princess Yan has repeatedly instructed us not to bring the young master to the garden."

“Miss Chenyu, let me take the young master back to his room. If he gets bitten by mosquitoes, Princess Yan will surely punish me.”

Shen Yu frowned, puzzled again. Rumor had it that Qiu Shuang'er was arrogant and vicious, and couldn't tolerate her own sister Qiu Xue'er. How could she be so good to Kang'er?

Just then, Qiu Shuang'er returned and hurriedly walked towards Chen Yu, pointing at the two maids and scolding them, "Don't you two have any memory? If Kang'er gets bitten by mosquitoes, she will cry and make a fuss. Hurry up and take Kang'er back to her room."

"I am humble and know my fault."

"This servant will take the young master back to his room now."

One maidservant quickly picked up Kang'er and carried her away, while another maidservant followed, constantly fanning Kang'er.

Seeing this, Shenyu hurriedly explained to Qiushuang'er, "It's all Shenyu's fault. I originally wanted to take Kang'er for a walk, but I saw balsam flowers in the garden, and they were in various colors, so I walked further and further away. Please don't blame those two maids, Princess Yan. I will send Cuiwei to deliver some anti-itch cream later. If you get bitten by mosquitoes, apply some anti-itch cream to cool and relieve itching and reduce redness and swelling."

"Thank you, Miss Chenyu. It's getting even hotter now. Please come with me to the hall for tea."

Shen Yu nodded, then turned to look at the balsam flowers. Her eyes instantly reddened, and she choked out, "Princess Yan, you flatter me. The Cheng Garden where I used to live had many balsam flowers, but unfortunately, it no longer belongs to me. I wonder if Princess Yan could send me some balsam flowers?"

Qiu Shuang'er nodded, "Okay, let's go to the hall to cool off for a while, and I'll have someone pick some for you."

"No need. Chen Yu wants to pick them herself, but perhaps she will never have the chance to pick balsam flowers herself again. Princess Yan is pregnant, so please go back to your room and rest."

"As you wish."

Watching Qiu Shuang'er leave, Chen Yu squatted down and pretended to pick balsam flowers. She secretly looked around and, seeing that no one was coming, took out a rope and placed it on Qiu Shuang'er's shoe print.

Qiu Shuang'er's shoe print was as long as the rope.

She reached into her sleeve, intending to trace and record the footprints, but just as she was about to pull her hand out, a figure suddenly appeared and encircled her.

Turning her head, she saw King Jing squatting behind her, his arms around her, pressing her hands.

She struggled quickly and whispered, "Let me go! I'm investigating a case."

“Look at me. Yan Wang’s men are watching you from the top of the wall. For An’er and Ping’er’s sake, don’t get yourself into trouble.”

Upon hearing this, Shen Yu was stunned. Yes, if Qiu Shuang'er was the real culprit, Yan Wang would definitely cover for her for the sake of his future, and she would be a thorn in Yan Wang's side.
