Chapter 522: The Jia Family Eating Coarse Food

“Huh…Huh…it’s back!”

Jia Zhang took the last bit of corn flour she had exchanged from Haiyong's house, and the sorghum flour given by Shazhu and threw them all on the ground in one breath.

"We won't be able to eat by lunch time now," said Jia Zhang.

Qin Huairu poured all the corn flour into the jar, and had to clear out the bag and return it to the owner. After all, it was very difficult to get a bag at that time, and the bag was usually replenished again and again.

"That's good!" Qin Huairu finally felt relieved. She had been worried to death about food these past two days.

"Bullshit! If you eat too much of this stuff, you won't be able to poop!" Jia Zhang cursed. She really didn't want to eat this stuff, and no one wanted to eat it. This stuff was not much better than bran, it was just a little more filling than bran.

"It's better to have something to eat than to go hungry."

In fact, Qin Huairu doesn't like to eat this stuff, but there is nothing she can do about it because this is the condition of their family.

At night, they made steamed cornmeal bread. Xiaodang was still young, so Qin Huairu cooked him half a bowl of millet porridge. Even this made Jia Zhang roll her eyes and mutter, "What good food can a money-loser eat!"

Banggeng came back to eat, picked up the cornmeal steamed bun, took a bite and spit it out.

"Bah, bah, what the hell is this! It's so disgusting!" Bang Geng was so angry that he threw the steamed bun directly on the table.

Qin Huairu watched Bang Geng wasting food and angrily yelled at him, "Pick it up and eat it!"

Before Banggeng could say anything, Jia Zhang quit.

"Why are you scolding my grandson? This thing has no nutritional value. How can my eldest grandson grow up if he eats this thing?" said Jia Zhang.

Banggeng felt even more justified when he saw that Jia Zhang was backing him up.

"That's right, that's right, this stuff tastes really bad." Bang Geng said.

"Whether you like it or not, let's just have this!" Qin Huairu said. She also wanted to eat delicious food, but there had to be food at home. It was good enough to have something to eat. When she was in the countryside and had nothing to eat, she had to eat this every day.

"Grandma!" Banggeng could only look to Jia Zhang for help.

Jia Zhangshi was just saying nice things, but this was all she had at home, what else could she eat if not this? Now Jia Zhangshi was silent.

Bang Geng saw that everyone in his family had the same attitude, so he threw his chopsticks in anger and said, "I won't eat anymore!"

Qin Huairu doesn't usually spoil her children, especially when it comes to things like this.

"If you don't eat, you'll be hungry. I'll see if you want to eat or not!" Qin Huairu said and continued to eat her meal.

"I'm not staying at home!" Banggeng said and ran outside.

After leaving home, Banggeng wanted to go play with the two brothers Guangtian and Guangfu, but the two brothers were eating at home.

Banggeng wanted to go play with Wang Er’s children again, but Wang Er’s family was having dinner and didn’t let Banggeng in.

The stick dog just wandered around the yard.

"Banggeng, what are you doing here?" When Shazhu came out of his house after dinner to splash water, he saw Banggeng and greeted him.

"My mother doesn't let me eat!" Banggeng said aggrievedly.

"Have you gotten into trouble again?" Sha Zhu asked with a smile.

"No, I didn't get into any trouble!" Bang Geng retorted.

"How could your mother not let you eat for no reason?" Sha Zhu said.

"Anyway, they just won't let me eat!" Banggeng didn't admit anything and said that he didn't want to eat because he thought the food at home was not tasty.

"Okay, then you go and play!" Shazhu didn't even think of inviting Banggeng to have a meal or anything like that, he was busy washing his own clothes.

But just as Shazhu was about to walk into the house, he saw Banggeng standing there staring at him and blocking his way.

"Come with me! How can you not let the child eat!" Only then did Sha Zhu realize that Bang Geng wanted to come to his house to get a bite of food.

Since Shazhu could sometimes get a bite in the cafeteria, he usually had plenty of food, so treating Banggeng to a meal was no big deal at all.

"Come, there is only one steamed bun left." Sha Zhu picked up a steamed bun from the table and handed it to Bang Geng. Sha Zhu's steamed bun was made of cornmeal, which was much better than the cornmeal that Bang Geng ate.

Then Sha Zhu pushed the pickled vegetable bowl towards Bang Geng and said, "Have a bite with the pickled vegetables!"

Banggeng ate the whole steamed bread in no time.

But how could a young boy like Banggeng be full with just one steamed bun? So after Banggeng finished eating, he looked at Shazhu again.

Sha Zhu searched for a while and said, "It seems that there is nothing left at home. Let's make do with this for now. Don't be angry with your mother when you get home later!"

But Banggeng refused to leave and just sat there straight.

At this time, Sha Zhu slapped his forehead and said, "I remembered, I still have something good here!"

After saying that, Sha Zhu went to the cupboard and rummaged around for a long time. Finally, he found a bag of peanuts at the bottom of the cupboard.

"Come, look, look, I bought this during the Chinese New Year. I couldn't bear to eat it then, so today you get it for free!" Sha Zhu took the paper bag to the table and opened it like he was presenting a treasure.

When Banggeng heard that there were peanuts to eat, his eyes lit up.

Without waiting for Shazhu to open the paper package, Banggeng snatched it away and quickly opened it himself.

When he saw that they were really peanuts, Bang Geng didn't care about anything else and just picked up one, opened it and put it in his mouth.

"Puh, phuh, phuh!" Banggeng threw the peanuts into his mouth, chewed them twice, and then spit them out.

Then he said to Sha Zhu with a sad face: "What kind of crap is this? It's so bitter!"

When Sha Zhu heard this, he also peeled a peanut and threw it into his mouth.

"Pooh, pooh, pooh! It seems like it has gone bad after being left for too long!" Sha Zhu said with great regret. He was reluctant to eat it when he was drinking, but he forgot about it later.

When Bang Geng saw that he couldn't get any advantage from Sha Zhu, he ran away. When he reached the door, he didn't forget to taunt Sha Zhu: "Stupid Sha Zhu, you just lied to me. There's nothing good to eat!"

Shazhu was so angry that he wanted to chase after Banggeng and give him a beating, but Banggeng just ran away.

By the time Shazhu chased him out of the house, Banggeng had already disappeared.

"Zhu Zi, what are you doing?" Yi Zhonghai asked when he saw Sha Zhu chasing Bang Geng.

"This kid Banggeng always makes me angry. I treated him to a steamed bun, but he still said I was a stupid fool. What do you think of this kid?" Shazhu said angrily.

"You too, are a grown-up, why are you arguing with a child?" Yi Zhonghai said.

"This kid always makes me angry!" said Sha Zhu.

Then Sha Zhu told Yi Zhonghai again about Banggeng coming to his house for dinner.

After hearing this, Yi Zhonghai sighed and said, "The Jia family is in such a difficult situation. We must help them if we can!"

"That's right. I gave him five kilograms of noodles today! I have to eat it sparingly." Sha Zhu said.

"Good boy!" Yi Zhonghai patted Sha Zhu on the shoulder and praised him.

Shazhu was very happy to receive the praise, but unfortunately no one could understand his feelings.
