Chapter 28: Picking up a little cub

Because of fear, Ji Nuan's hands were soft and without any strength, and the stick escaped her control the moment she swung it down, hitting the small black dot in a perfect free-fall posture.

The expected molluscs did not emerge.

Instead, a slightly angry but cute "Awooo" sound entered Ji Nuan's ears. She scratched her ears in disbelief. It must be the cry of a little kid!

Oh my God! Which beastman is so careless that he lets the little beastman cub run around in the woods and get taken away by the beast? What should we do?

After confirming that it was not a snake, Ji Nuan’s fear was finally relieved. She bent down, picked up the wooden stick on the ground, and carefully pushed aside the grass in front of her. The scene she saw made Ji Nuan feel relieved, and then she was filled with sympathy.

A chubby little lion cub, his body stained with blood, was using one of his fat paws to cover his nose that was hit by a stick. His dark eyes were filled with tears, and he raised his round little head and looked at her with an aggrieved look on his face.

Ji Nuan quickly squatted down and touched the little lion cub's soft fur that was stained with blood. "Little cub, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. Are you a cub in the tribe? Where are you injured? I'll take you back to see the witch doctor now, okay?"

The little lion cub lowered his head pitifully. Where Ji Nuan couldn't see, a hint of human shame flashed in his dark eyes.

He raised his round head and looked at Ji Nuan for a while before he stretched out his fat paws, which were covering his nose, towards Ji Nuan. He also made two childish "wows" as if urging Ji Nuan to pick him up quickly. There was also a hint of disgust in his little eyes.

Such a proud and cute little cub is simply adorable. Ji Nuan avoided his other fat paw hanging down, put her left hand across his little chest, held up his chubby little butt with her right hand, and held the little fat lion cub into her arms.

However, she found that his chubby little body was shaking constantly, and he made a cry of pain from time to time. His baby voice sounded extremely pitiful. Ji Nuan lowered her head to check, and found that the cub's two hind legs were also hanging down with blood and flesh. She quickly moved her hand that was holding the little butt to under the soft belly.

Seeing the little lion cub looking uncomfortable as she held him in her arms, Ji Nuan lowered her head and kissed the little lion cub’s dirty head, whispering to comfort him: “Be good, little one, bear with it. We’ll be at the tribe soon, and you’ll be fine after the witch doctor Grandma heals you.”

The little lion cub hummed twice, its round little head drooped on her arm, and it closed its dark little eyes with a slightly tired look.

Ji Nuan walked quickly towards the tribe, and arrived at the cave where the witch doctor lived in less than half the time it usually took.

The witch doctor was drying herbs for the cold season outside. When he saw Ji Nuan coming over with a bloody little lion cub in her arms, he stood up quickly and asked, "Whose cub is this? Why is it so badly injured?"

Ji Nuan panted heavily, her voice intermittent: "I... huh~ I don't know either. I found this when I was collecting in the small woods. One of the cub's front paws and both hind legs were broken. The wounds looked like they were bitten by a beast."

The witch doctor looked frightened and carefully took the little lion cub from Ji Nuan's hands: "I will take the cub to clean and treat the wound first, and then boil some bitter water for him. You go to the tribe leader's house and ask him to come over to my place."
